Eye Opening

Bright lights and the smell of magnolia filled the room. Delya slowly opens her eyes. She finds herself curled up in a woman's arm. A tall man stood beside them.

A gentle voice whispered in her ear "My lovely Delya, welcome to the world.".

Delya stares right into a young woman's dark blue eyes. How can anyone have such beautiful and soulful eyes. A genuine smile and soothing voice put Delya back to sleep.

"That's right, I died..." Delya thought.

She felt lucky, another peaceful life waiting for her.

"Let her sleep a little more" a deep voice whispered.

"He must be my father" Delya thought.

A few days passed and they are finally home. It smells cozy, if cozy can be put into a candle.

"Ubaa" Delya babbled.

No words can form out of her mouth. Frustrated, she let out a cry. As Finn and Narie tried to sooth Delya, she kept weeping nonstop.

Delya wish for time to quickly pass so she can speak properly. The thought of going through everything again drives her insane.

"Puu" Delya mumbled. Nothing is ever easy in life. Once again she felt like god is punishing her for her wrongdoings in her past life.

"This isn't what I wanted..." her brows furrowed.

On that sunny day, Narie took the remote from the coffee table and turned it on. Shocked from what they saw, Narie dropped the remote.

"The ambulance is currently on the way here..." said a female news reporter.

Delya looks up at Narie, who was holding her in her arms. Narie's jaw dropped and her left hand creeped up to cover her mouth.

Apparently there was a bomb at a mall nearby. Tears fell down Narie's eyes as her husband held, and comforted her.

Delya thought to herself "did she know someone who was there? Why are crying? Isn't that just how life works?".

As harsh as it may sound, she couldn't feel an ounce of sympathy. She lived, loved, and lost. Her heart couldn't express emotions anymore.

What Delya didn't know was that there was a corpse shown on the news, covered in a white sheet.

"Those shoes...that watch, it's him" Narie's brokendown voice exclaimed.

Delya's eyes widened. She was right, it was a man Narie was aquainted with. Although it has been a few day, Delya have not heard them mention any of their friends. Even while friends and family visited the hospital, Delya was always asleep. Finn immediately grabs his phone and calls someone.

"No one is picking up the phone!" he yelled in frustration.

While worrying and waiting for an hour, a phone call finally came. Without a second thought, Finn picks up the phone immediately.

"Hello?! Where are you guys? Is he alright?" Finn asked, as he paces himself back and forth.

When he finally stopped pacing, tears fell down his face. his legs gave out and he dropped to the floor, bawling his eyes out.

"Honey? What happened?" Narie asked.

She placed Delya back into her crib right next to her and ran over to Aslen. Delya watched the two cry into each other's arms.
