Memories That Won't Fade

10 Months Old

It's been a while. The dresses daddy bought me were really pretty, and I tried my absolute hardest not to mess them or rip them. Currently, I am wearing a simple yellow dress with an orange collar. Whenever we go to the village, everyone stares at me since my clothes don't look like that of a plebeian. Daddy also doesn't wear those clothes. He wears a white collar shirt, long black pants, black shoes, and a silver belt with a leather pocket. He also rolls his sleeves half way which makes him so handsome and attractive.

Now I understand why every woman, married or not, in the village stares at daddy whenever he comes by. If he's this good looking, I must be extraordinarily beautiful. At least when I grow up.

"Papa! I love eooo!! (I love you)" I've also gotten better at talking since I practiced a lot with Ribius and Mallo, whenever I get the chance. Now I am pretending to be able to pronounce R's and L's. "Hmm~ Thanks." You could at least say it back. I also got better at walking, which I am doing right now. I walked over to daddy, who was writing something, and hugged his leg. "I love eoooo!!"

He ignored me. I guess he has work. I am so bored~ I want to talk to someone! When will Ribius come by? Ribius's mother said that he didn't have to stay over, since he is an apprentice carpenter, working with Ben and he can stay with Ben in his shop. But Ribius refused and said he wanted to stay with me. I was so touched when he did, but then he told me that it wasn't because he wanted to stay with me but for the books. I smacked him over the head.

"KNOCK KNOCK" Ribius!! I walked over (since I can't run yet) and opened the door. Halvort and Moltis? "Where's your dad?" I pulled both of their hands and led them inside the house. I didn't forget to close the door either.

"Papa!! Moltis awnd Halbort arwe here!!" They sat on the couch and daddy came out of his office. "Yo. Something wrong?" Halvort and Moltis glanced at each other then back at daddy. "Abanders are all over the mountain sides and clogging the river entrance. The water from the river isn't reaching the village." Abanders? God no.

"What? What are we supposed to do?" Daddy sat on the other couch. "We decided to go there and kill all the Abanders and free the river entrance. Ben, Halvort, and Vindra will reopen the river entrance. The others will fight." Am I going to stay all alone? "And Alyth, she should stay with Mallo and Ribius." YES!!! The two people I can talk to!!! But if daddy's also going to fight, then…

What if he gets hurt? "There are very large sized Abanders too, so we'll need your magic." So they can't use magic. Only daddy can. I pulled on Moltis's pants. "What wo eo wight with? (what do you fight with)"

"...We fight with swords, Jin fights with his fist, Vindra fights with a bow, Mallo uses spells and other stuff." Damn.

I walked over into daddy's office and took a piece of paper and an ink pen. I already know that paper and ink are very expensive, but I really need this! Ribius somehow taught me how to read and write without suspecting me. I gripped the ink pen and wrote on the paper.

'Halvort, Angyar, Moltis, and Ben use swords. Vindra uses a bow, Jin uses pure strength, and Mallo uses spells.' That'll help a lot. I should also write everything that I know about this world, and the important knowledge in my past life.

And… Done! I wrote many things. The ink finished, my hand hurts and I am sleepy. It's probably been an hour. I got up (I was sitting on the ground) and walked over to daddy, from his office. They're still talking. "Papaa… Alyth is wleepy…"

"come here." I walked slowly over to him while wiping my eyes. He picked me up and gently placed my head on his shoulder while holding my back.

I feel so big but I am not. I am still 10 months old. Because I am actually an adult, I learned to keep my balance while walking and learned to talk easily because I already know what sounds to make at each letter. SO I AM A GENIUS!

Okay. Enough with the lies. I ain't no genius...

"Is she asleep?" "Yeah. You can talk now." Angyar looked warmly at his daughter. "Are you planning to give her the Vandestry? Be honest with me." Angyar stayed silent. That proved something to Halvort and Moltis. "Are you serious?! What are you going to do if something happens?!! Only you can control it, so what are you thinking, wanting to give it to a child that isn't even a year old!!!"

"Halvort, you'll wake her up." Moltis's calm attitude triggered Halvort. "How are you so calm?! Do you not realize how dangerous this is?!?!" Halvort was standing up and yelling at this point. It's truly a wonder how Alyth is not awake right now.

"I know… I already know, but what am I supposed to do?! She's the only family I have left in this world, and I am her only family! I have to protect her at all costs!" Angyar had tears in his eyes. He really needed to protect her. "I agree with Angyar, Halvort. He needs to protect Alyth, especially since things are getting bad these days."

Mentioning the sudden outburst of the Abanders and other monsters around the area made Halvort flinch. Since Alyth and Angyar's house is close to a bunch of forests and mountains, monsters are usually around. The only reason Alyth isn't seeing any monsters is because Angyar would wake up in the middle of the night, when monsters appear, and he'd kill all of them.

The ones that endangered his daughter's life. Not only are monsters appearing more often, but Angyar had spotted a few demons when he participated in an Eveldelsa (any fight with any monster). That means that if someone who doesn't have any form of self defense were to go outside at night, they would die for sure.

Halvort sighed and sat back on the couch. "...sorry. But it's just really dangerous. How about you give it to her when she's a bit older? Remember that Alyth is only 10 months old, no matter how smart or mature she can appear to be."

"I think so too. You should train her before giving it to her. That way she can actually use it." Angyar looked up at his two friends. "Train her? How?" It never crossed Angyar's mind that he would teach someone. "Teach her how to use magic. She most likely has it, since she's your daughter." Angyar nodded.

"You should also give her some sort of weapon. That way she can really defend herself." Angyar thought about it. Giving her not one, not two, but three defenses. The Vandestry, magic, and a weapon. That's good.

"So if you do teach her to use magic, she'll not only get strong, but she'll have enough willpower to summon the Vandestry ITSELF." It was honestly surprising that Halvort, yes Halvort, thought of that. That was however, true, no matter how mythical it sounded.

"But I can't... I can't teach her. I'll... figure it out."

---The Next Morning----

Ah… I had a good sleep. Daddy was so comfortable. Anyway, today I'll ask daddy to go see Ribius. But where is daddy? I was put down in my crib, but I can easily crawl out. I started climbing it and fell out and landed on my butt. I tottered over to daddy's office.

It's open. He's there, sleeping in his chair. I feel so bad. Whatever he works as, it keeps him awake all night. "Daddy, wape uop." He's not waking.

I took a little blanket and threw it over him, then closed the office door. What should I do? I am really hungry… I walked over to the shelf where daddy keeps the fruits. It's too high up. I can't reach. UGH. What to do??? I am suffocating in here. It's too hot! Let's open the door a little bit.

Oh… it's safe. There is no sign of monsters and the weather is very nice. The village isn't too far either. Maybe I could walk there…

Okay, let's go to the village. I feel bad for daddy and I am hungry. I could go ask Vindra to make me some food. I went to the box in my and daddy's room and took out a dress. A baby pink dress with ruffles at the end. I took off the top I was wearing and put on the dress. I can tell it's backward, but whatever. I put on my red shoes, the ones that daddy bought me.

Now I can go. I know the way to the village from the times daddy and I go.

I closed the door and started walking. I can't help but feel scared. What if a monster jumps on me and kills me? But I am hungry and I might die of hunger before a monster can kill me.

I walked a bit faster, but that resulted in me falling face first into the grassy ground. Ugh, there's dirt in my mouth. I tried to get back up, but… I can't.

I don't know why.... But... I am trembling with fear. Sweat is dripping off my face and I can't breathe. Why is it that I feel like I am about to die…?

I...I can't… move. I c-can't breathe… Daddy… daddy, help me…

"Daddy…!" I jolted when I felt something sharp go into my back. It hurts… stop… please… dad, help… "HAH!" D-daddy? I turned my head over, to see daddy pushing his sword into someone's stomach. "Daddy… WAHHH!!!!" It's really dad. He came to help…

"Alyth. Let's go home." He picked me up as I continued to cry. That was so scary. What was that? A black, humanoid figure with horns coming out of its head. But that wasn't what scared me. The white eyes… Wait. That sounds… pretty familiar.

'an Abander is a humanoid looking monster. They have white eyes and they're completely black' That thing was… an Abander. I see. Ugh, I am getting goosebumps!

I instantly relaxed when we got inside the house. Thank god daddy saved me. I owe him one.

"Alyth. Why'd you go out?" Huh? Why's he asking me that? "Haven't I told you so many times to not go outside when I am not there?!!" Why… Why is he yelling at me? What am I supposed to know? "DO YOU KNOW HOW SCARED I WAS WHEN I COULDN'T FIND YOU?!!" Oh no. Tears are forming… I… don't want to cry…

"Wahhh!!!" "Stop crying!! I know you understand me!!" My crying got softer but I still cried. "I know you're not a normal baby, Alyth. Answer me."

How do you expect me to answer you while crying? Yet his voice is so demanding, I had to answer. "Alyth… HIC thoeght it wath thafe (Alyth thought it was safe).... HIC." That's all I could say. I knew I was wrong.

"Safe? How could you think that? Do you know where we live?" I know. I know we live next to forests and mountains, where monsters usually are, but that didn't come to mind when I went out.

"...I am leaving. I am leaving for 2 years." What? 2 years? Was it because of what I had done...? "No daddy! Plwease don'th goooo!!! Plwease!!! Alyth is thorry (please don't go. Alyth is sorry)!! Won'th do ith agwain (won't do it again)!! WAHH!!!" No. Please. Don't leave me. "It's not because of what you did. I have to participate in a long Eveldelsa."

Why does he have to? I hugged his leg. "No! Don'th Lweave Alyth!" He crouched over and hugged me back. "I am sorry. I am so sorry. I have to leave in 3 more days." NO!! "WAHH!!!!" and so I spent half the day crying. Then he fed me. And we went to the village. I was still sad and my eyes were swollen. And I stuck to dad like glue. I usually go and talk to Ribius when dad comes to Masilta, but now I stayed with him. Ribius didn't come over yesterday. I am guessing he was busy.

Daddy was holding me and talking with Ben and Jin while Ribius sat on the table reading a book. The others were working somewhere. We were currently in the library. Vindra keeps checking on us if we need anything.

"Angyar, don't you think it's time for you to get married again? It's clearly hard for you to take care of Alyth alone, and Vindra is waiting." Get married? No thanks. I like it when daddy is single. "I don't want to. I already told Vindra that I won't get married again." So Vindra proposed to dad? "But she can take care of you and Alyth. You're really busy these days and Vindra can take care of Alyth for you. Besides, Vindra is a kind and beautiful woman. It'll take days for you to fall for her."

This topic makes me so uncomfortable. I really dislike Vindra for some reason, so knowing that she loves dad doesn't make it better. "I've known Vindra ever since we were kids, and I've never thought of her as more than a friend. So don't bring up this topic again." GOOD! Daddy doesn't like Vindra!! YAY! ...Why am I so mean to her?

But he doesn't want to get married. Good. "Alyth, what do you think?" Me? "Alyth don'th wanth papa to mawrry (Alyth doesn't want papa to marry)."

"Why? Is it because you want to marry him?" Haha. Every kid does this. I nod. "Alyth will mawrry papa." Everyone stayed quiet for a moment. Even Ribius looked at me. "HAHAHAHA!!!!"

Ben burst out laughing, Jin started coughing from trying to suppress his laughter, daddy chuckled slightly, and Ribius sweatdropped. "See? I won't get married, because Alyth wants to marry me."

Ben laughs a little more and Jin nods. Ribius went back to his book. "Huh? What're you guys laughing at?" Vindra comes by and asks with a very confused look.

Ben laughs some more to the point where he fell on the ground, and daddy started laughing too, but not as intense as Ben. Jin turned his head away again and I could hear Ribius sigh.

I wish this moment could stay forever.
