here we are now | chapter 02

Sorry if this chapter is really short! I rushed and tried to get this in sooner. Today was Thanksgiving, and it bound such a family event to be a mess, so I lost track of time! It is 2:57am, I have gotten no sleep since yesterday morning, this chapter is short, and I want to eat the leftover pumpkin crunch in the fridge. I still hope you guys enjoy the content I provide :)

3rd Person POV:

(Y/n) looked out the window, watching as the raindrops raced down the side of the clear glass, while tapping her fingers against the pane. She sighed to herself, reminiscing of the childhood memories she made with Ushijima. All she could think of was their chance of encounter. She thought of all the times he protected her. All the time he'd watch over her, take care of her. All the times he showed his love for her.

'But things are different now.' (Y/n) thought to herself, glancing out the wet frame of glass once again.

Ushijima and (Y/n)'s relationship were still the same. If not, it progressed further. The thing being different, in this case, was Ushijima's occupation. As kids, the two of them hadn't a care in the world; they had nothing better to do rather than provide an endless amount of love towards one another. But now days, the man had to work all the time. He had 'business' to attend to, and 'important deals' to make, and most of all, 'jobs to take care of.'

He had told (Y/n) he'd worked a dangerous job, she just didn't know how dangerous. When he said 'business,' she thought 'office meetings.' When he said 'important deals,' she interpreted it as 'sales.' And when he said 'jobs to take care of,' she thought Ushijima meant 'other branches of his workspace.'

She did not understand he was part of the mafia.

Now, before anyone has the time to judge him, Ushijima was planning on telling his love. He wanted to tell her the business he was in, the things he was getting himself into. He really did. But, because she was such an angel in his eyes, because he thought she could literally do no wrong, he kept (Y/n) out of it. For her own good.

He didn't want his little angel getting involved in things like murders, and dealings, and bloody business! So, he kept (Y/n) out of that part of his life; away from corruption, danger, and many more destructive features which came with the mafia business.

"Maybe I should call him," the young girl started, pulling her phone out from her back pocket. "He might be happy to see me call!" (Y/n) went to her contact list and dialed her lover with eagerness filling up inside of her heart.

On Ushijima's Side...

"Where. Is. The. M-O-N-E-Y?" Semi asked the leader, Terushima, to which there was no answer.

*BANG BANG BANG*

Semi had pulled out his gun and shot one of Terushima's subordinates over and over multiple times. Blood had splattered all over the place, but the members of Shiratorizawa could not care less. On the flip side, Johzenji's boss (aka Terushima) had a cold sweat drip down his spine. He didn't want to imagine what would come for him next.

"Look, man," Tendou sighed, kneeling down to his hostage's tied-up height. "We don't want to hurt you... too badly. But, if you tell us where the money is, we'll let you go." The red head smiled a crooked grin, eyes closed and all.

Terushima's gaze darted from his dead subordinate, to Tendou, and then to Ushijima. However, his eyes froze as his scan landed on the opposing team's leader; Wakatoshi, the headman of Shiratorizawa.

Ushijima was scowling at the coward beneath him, wanting nothing more but to put a bullet right through the middle of his eyes.

"Tendou-san, if you would." The commander ushered the red head man out of the way, making room for himself to tower over Terushima. His cold eyes locked onto the weakling's tired and beaten figure. Ushijima's gun pointed onto the victim's forehead, and he locked his pointer finger onto the trigger.

"You get one more chance; where is the money? Tell me now, or you die." He was always straightforward with his demands, never wanting to waste any extra time.

"F-F-Fine! The money's in the basement walls, okay. S-So, just let me go!" Terushima exclaimed, desperately moving his wrist to free himself.

Ushijima smirked and was about to pull the trigger, when his phone repeatedly buzzed. His eyebrows knitted together, as if he was trying to figure something out. He pulled the buzzing contraption out of his coat pocket and looked to see who it was calling him.

"Who is it, boss?" Semi asked, eyes still secured on Terushima.

"Oh, it's my angel." He said in a light-hearted voice, smiling at his phone.

Tendou and Semi shared a look. "Who?" They simultaneously asked.

"Ah, that's right. You two know her as (L/n)-san." He reminded them, to which they both nodded in realization. "Remember her? I call her my angel."

"Ooh, (L/n)-san! I remember her! She was the really nice kid from my school, and the only one who didn't see me as a monster! I really liked her~," Tendou fondled, thinking of all the time he spent with (Y/n).

Ushijima sent a glare towards Tendou's way, so the mischievous man thought it wise to just shut up at that point.

"You two finish up. I need to take this." The tall man walked over to the other side of the room, while Tendou and Semi shot Terushima dead.

"Ah, Waka-kun! You answered!"

"Heh, yeah. Is something wrong? Why're you calling me?"

"Nothing's wrong, I just missed you."

Ushijima's heart melted at her words. He couldn't take or understand how she came to be so cute. Or maybe (Y/n) was just born that way.

"I see. Well, what are you doing right now? Are you at home, or shopping, or doing anything in particular?"

"No... I'm just sitting at home. I'm watching the raindrops as they go down the glass windows right now." (Y/n) giggled to herself before continuing. "Hehe. It's kind of funny to watch!"

The sound of her laughter made the man weak. His heart melted all over again, and he fell even harder than he had before. The more he listened, talked, and spent time with (Y/n), the more in love he was with her. She was just so perfect in his eyes.

"That's nice," he started before taking a deep breath in. "But, (Y/n), you can go out and do something if you'd like. It's not as if you need my approval for every little thing." Ushijima stated.

"Oh, I know. It's just, I'd rather go to places with you!" Ushijima could practically hear her smile through the phone; she was so adorable.

"Boss, it's time to go." Tendou whispered, much to Ushijima's disappointment.

"Ah, I'm sorry, my little angel, but I have to get back to work now."

(Y/n) sighed with disappointment in her voice, which made Ushijima's heart go from 'doki doki' to 'titanic' in a minute.

"Okay, I see. Well, have a good day at work. I'll see you when you get home. Bye-bye."

"Bye-" But before he could finish his sentence, (Y/n) hung up.

'Is she angry with me?' He thought, before stuffing his phone back into his pocket, and turning around to get back to Tendou and Semi.

(Y/n) was angry with him. And she was going to make that known.
