ALTERNIVERSE (Original Short Story)

In the year 2078 technology has advanced tremendously, making strides in several scientific and medical discoveries. The greatest feat was when the american and britain intelligent centers combined their efforts to create a suborbital station for cutting edge tech. The experiment that held the top priority was furthering their advancements with dark matter. Needless to say an accident happened that blew a hole in the side of the space station and dark matter particles spread throughout the atmosphere. The resulting spread of dark matter created the first generation of meta-humans changing the world forever. Ten years have passed since and the government did what they could to cover up most of the incident, completely hiding the fact that unpredictable dark matter has covered the world. The space station has since been fully restored and resumed their business but now has even tighter protocols to prevent another disaster

ALTERNIVERSE: Chapter 1

It's a new dawn in the realm of the gods as the brilliant light from their sun begins softly shining down over Eclidza. Sunlight peaks through the window onto Phineas' face prompting his awakening in the guest bed in Jins home. The young man stretches outwards in order to wake his body when he starts hearing grunting coming from the hallway. Curious as to what that sound could be so early in the morning, Phineas leaves the comfort of his bed and heads downstairs to find Jin hard at work exercising in the middle of the floor doing push-ups.

Jin notices Phineas coming down the stairs and gets up from the floor. "Good morning, Phineas. I hope you slept well."

"I slept like a rock. I never felt a bed as comfortable as that one. So do you always train so early in the morning?" Phineas asks his sweaty friend.

Jin walks over to a small table in the corner and picks up a cloth. "Indeed, though, I'll need to increase my training regimen now." He starts wiping the sweat from his body.

Phineas snickers at him. "Is that because you got your butt kicked by Kerish?" Jin freezes in an instant. "I knew it."

"You are wrong. It was a hard-fought battle on both sides. Nothing to be ashamed about. I could not be any more proud of Kerishs accomplishment." Jin says as his hand holding the cloth begins to smoke.

"Mhm, keep telling yourself that. You might wanna put that out." Phineas points to the cloth that caught fire. Jin quickly pats it out but due to his elemental heritage ends up making it bigger by mistake. "Just smother so the fire dies."

"Right! Right!" Jin quickly folds what's left of the cloth in on itself to snuff out the flame before it gets too big. "Thank you… so are you going to work on trying to tap into your godly powers today?"

Phineas walks over to the kitchen area to where a bowl of fruit sits on the counter. "Yeah, I am. Lumina says she'll come by in a bit to take me to the training grounds where we can practice without worry. What are you going to do?"

"I'm quite curious to see how the daughter of Borean and Torrentia is doing… wait a moment, Lumina is taking you?" Jin gives Phineas a suspicious glance hearing this information.

"Would you look at the time, I'll just head out now and meet her halfway." Phineas quickly runs past Jin and out the front door. He runs down the paved dirt trail until Phineas spots Lumina further down, walking in his direction. The Goddess appears to be looking down as she walks, silently mouthing something while doing so. "Hey!"

Lumina glances up, greeting Phineas with a bright smile. "Well good morning, Phineas. This is a surprise. I thought I was to pick you up from my brothers' house?"

"Oh, well, you know. I was just so eager to start training that I decided to meet you halfway." Phineas says as he nervously peers over his shoulder up the trail he came.

"That's great, glad to hear it because your training won't be an easy one." Her statement makes Phineas turn his attention back on to her quickly. "If what we learned about you and the God of Chaos is true. Now that you reincarnated into this body it's safe to say that Korthax did as well. You're the only one who could stop him and you don't even know how to use your powers."

Phineas rubs the back of his neck coming to terms of his disadvantage against an overwhelming threat. "Yeah… you got a point. I need to catch up big time."

"Luckily for us, we have a place you can go to help close that gap. Come with me." Lumina takes his hand firmly as she leads him into Eclidza. They walk for a short time until they reach the coliseum that Jin and Kerish previously fought in.

"Why are we back here? I thought this place was only for entertainment?" Phineas asks curiously while following behind her.

"It is. Well the arena part that is." Lumina leads him down underneath the arena to a door with a symbol of two swords crossed on it. "Here we are."

Phineas looks at the door then back at Lumina with her gesturing for him to open it. He shrugs his shoulders then reaches for the handle of the door. Upon opening the door they both are met with a bright light that teleports them to a circular, smooth stone platform, the size of a football field, that is floating in the epicenter of a massive oasis in the middle of a jungle. A mystifying waterfall looms in the background that feeds the water surrounding them. On the platform are several other demigods training with each other whether it be with their weapons or elemental connections.

Lumina walks up to the left of Phineas with a proud expression on her face. "Welcome to the Oasis."

"Whoa." Phineas does a three-sixty as he takes in the view. He stops immediately when he sees Mikayla, now in a customed made white and blue gi that perfectly fits her body, training with other water and ice demigods. "Mikayla? She's been here this whole time? That explains why we haven't seen her since the citadel."

"Looks like she has been progressing with her siblings. We came just in time to see her spar."

The two of them stand to the side at a safe distance as to not interrupt the training deities but still see everything clearly. Mikayla stands off against two female demigods; the left is a long, blacked haired, tan beauty wearing a blue gi and the right a short, brown haired Goddess wearing a white gi.

"Is she about to face off against two other demigods? Isn't that kind of unfair for her?" Phineas asks Lumina who just smiles.

"It would be but you forgot, Mikayla is a demigod born from Borean and Torrentia. They're just giving her a proper match."

Mikayla closes her eyes and begins to take in long, deep breaths. Every breath she takes pulls and pushes the water surrounding them. At the same time the moisture in the air around her body starts to freeze, creating snowflakes that orbits her. When she opens her eyes the demigods see that her left eye is a bright shade of silver and her right eye is a shade of blue similar to a lapis.

"Ok let us begin."

(sorry for the long hiatus. I've been so busy and my head hasn't been in the mindset of making stories. I'm trying to get back into now and will have chapters out bi-weekly.)
