My dream. Part two.

"Do you know how to read?" 

"Yes. While you were sleeping, I learned to read." 

"And what was the first thing you read?" 

It pointed me to a little book, or rather a guide to how to drive a flying machine. 

"Not the best book to start reading." 

"I'd like to read your book," Moonlight suddenly said, and as if specifically, to give its words some meaning, it took a few steps in my direction. But there was no point. It just wanted to take one of the books on my desk. 

"My book? Do you want to be my first reader?" 

In front of me, forth, was the most sincere, kind and pure creature, whose thoughts were just as beautiful as the Moon itself. 

"Yes. I wonder what you're writing about." 

"You can easily read my mind," I said. 

As always, the surprised look made me nervous, but I tried to look indifferent. 

"I can. But I don't want to read your mind without your permission."

I was surprised by that answer. 

"If a person could read minds, he or she would use this skill without any doubt." 

"Tell me about people." 

"You better see it with your own eyes." 

Noticing that it wanted to read the book that was still in my hands, I said, "This is a collection of poems. Of course, now, no one writes poetry. And it's very sad." 

"Poems," it whispered, as if it were some kind a of mystery. 

When I turned away, I felt the presence of this creature in the room and saw a reflection on the mirrored wall opposite. 

And what I noticed made my heart ache. 

These eyes expressed no longer surprise, they expressed, sadness. 

Sensing my gaze, Moonlight asked, "Why are mirrors everywhere?"

"My mother came up with this style. I don't know why, but she likes mirrors." 

"I like that style, too." 

"Why?" 

"I can see your reflection wherever you are," Moonlight replied. 

Silence again created an awkwardness. 

"Are you afraid?" it suddenly asked. 

"Why do you think so?" 

"I don't know. I just want to understand you." 

It was hard for me to continue this conversation. And to my happiness, hearing some strange noise, somewhere outside the house, I ran to the window and saw Yundoran. 

And immediately the thought came to me that he should not see Moonlight. 

"Moonlight, you need to sit here and wait for me. Don't go anywhere without me." 

"I'll be waiting for you here." 

I quickly grabbed my jacket, and I ran out of the room and closed the door. 

And when I left the room, Yundoran ran out to meet me. The expression on his face was slightly frightened. 

"What happened?" 

"You need to listen to something," he said, grabbing my hand, running toward the door. 

Still frightened, Yundoran quickly got into the car and ordered me to close the door, which I did. Then, looking around, he muttered something, but I didn't understand anything. It's the first time I've seen him so concerned. 

"What happened? Tell me." 

Silently pressing the little button above his head, Yundoran applied his index finger to his lips as a sign that I had to remain silent too. 

A quiet, barely perceptible voice filled a tense silence. 

"These creatures are a real treasure. They are even more important than what humanity has achieved. With them, with their ability to read minds, we will be able to follow everyone, understand everyone and most importantly know what everyone is thinking. Don't you think that this will allow us to understand the desires of every inhabitant of this planet, so that we know what to do to improve the lives of everyone. I think it will be necessary for us." 

When the voice stopped speaking, I heard Sennhandd's quiet voice. But his words remained promiscuous. 

"Where did you hear this conversation?" 

"I went to visit an old friend. A friend of mine works in one of the branches of SCIBMAG. And so, as I was passing by the office of the chief of this place, I accidentally heard this conversation. And there was Sennhandd. You know what's the worst part? He didn't mind, he just listened and agreed with everything Lain said to him." 

"Lain? Who is she? I've never heard of her." 

"Sometimes I think you're really living in a different time." 

"So, who is she?"

"Lain, she's the main character of the whole SCIBMAG. Everyone thinks it's Sennhandd. But really, it's her. Without her, no one will do anything. And even Sennhandd does everything what she says. If she doesn't like something, she says so. Every invention, every idea goes through her approval. I'm just surprised you don't know such an important and mysterious person." 

"This is the first time I've heard of her. And what do you think of what she said? Do you think that's going to be true? Does she really think she can read everyone's mind? It's impossible. How much effort it will take? And yet, why would she read mind when, now, everyone just doesn't have any thoughts," I said and laughed. Although, I realized that there was nothing funny about it. 

"If Lain has something to do, nothing will stop her. She will go to the end, but will reach her goal. Did you hear what she said, didn't you? These creatures, I knew they could read minds for a reason. One predictor was right to say that in the future, even in thought, a person will not be free. And now, this day has come." 

Noticing the obvious worry on his face, I put my arms around his shoulders and said, "But we have nothing to worry about or hide. Our thoughts are clear." 

"Aren't you scared? Just imagine, your every thought will be known to those who can at any moment use your own thoughts against you. I'm scared. I don't want them to know my thoughts." 

"So, my beautiful friend has something he wants to hide? What secrets do you have? I think I know. You're afraid they'll find out that your thoughts are always just about me." 

"I'm not joking right now. Oki, look, we shouldn't let these Wizards read our minds," he whispered.

"What are you suggesting I do? Or what do you want to do? How are you going to stop them? You're just a human being. You're not even part of SCIBMAG." 

"I'll do anything to stop them," he said, and for the first time, became so serious that I for a moment didn't recognize my friend.
