Hexses and Suprises

"Ahhhhh" The blood-curdling scream of the shy student was heard throughout the classroom.

This caused the students of the class to be worried.

Some even felt a chill run down their spine.

But why are they so sacred? Well, the shy student was currently lying on the ground and screaming in pain.

He was currently having a cardiac arrest.

"Okay, unlock," Mr. Reverie said as he cast the spell unlock.

The shy student was currently unconscious but he seemed to be fine.

Mr Reverie lifted his finger and the shy student's body floated up.

Mr Reverie led the shy student's body with his finger to his seat.

"Now then, can anyone of you guess what just happened?" Mr Reverie asked.

To which nobody answered.

"Haha, I guess I scared you guys a little.

Fine, I'll do it myself.

Lock like any other basic spell, is underestimated. Yeah, it may take a noticeable amount of mana away each second, but if you use it the right way, then it'll be worth it."

"Like just now, that student's blood circulation stopped because I locked it."

"Anything can be locked with The spell Lock."

The students were simply amazed by Mr Reverie's knowledge.

From what they know, nobody has ever tried that!

Clara was now convinced. She didn't know anything about mana or history.

Clara had studied a tone before she joined Nova Academy.

She comes from a family of geniuses, so it was expected of her family members for her to get the highest grades of her year.

Even though she was the only family member to have joined Nova Academy.

"You all probably wondering how it's possible. It's quite simple actually."

"You all probably know about the spell seal right? The spell that seals someone's magic for a limited time."

"I discovered that seal and lock had the same foundations. You might find what I'm about to say next is a little advanced but you need to know this to understand.

All spells are symbols drawn with mana. You can try to draw them on sand or paper, but it won't have any effect.

The spells will only activate when the symbol is drawn with mana. And of course, it has to be drawn with the correct mana types."

"Something interesting is that you can find these symbols everywhere. For example, the patterns on snowflakes were ignored and thought of as nothing special.

However, I discovered that those patterns are the symbols of a spell. These symbols used to be called magic circles, but I gave them a new name, Hexses."

"How does this relate to seal and lock? Well, seal and locks Hexes are quite similar looking, so I tried combining the two and miserably failed." Mr Reverie gave a small smile as he looked back on the memories of his failure.

"But I learned something from it, you can't combine Hexses to make another new Hex. But we humans have always been able to combine spells to make more powerful ones. That is what I thought until I realized that every single spell that we 'created' already existed."

Mr Reverie paused after that last sentence and gave a seemingly sad smile.

He was sad that every spell had already existed. He was one of those humans who 'created' a new spell. And it happened to be his favorite spell too. Knowing that his favorite spell was not entirely his own made it seem a bit weird to him.

A student raised his hand and Mr Reverie was knocked out of his thoughts.

"Yes?" Mr reverie said

Lucian stood up and asked his question.

"But what about incantations then? We can use them to use magic, and we don't use or draw any Hexses" Lucian asked

"Good question, When we speak the incantations, the mana in our body reacts and forms a hex depending on what incantation you used." Mr Reverie explained.

"But how do you know that? It's not like you can see mana" Lucian asked.

To which Mr Reverie only smirked.

"Wait, can you see mana?" Lucian asked with a sense of worry in his voice.

"Haha, of course, I can see mana. I wouldn't be your mana teacher then" Mr Reverie boasted

Lucian and his classmates were all shocked, their new teacher surprised them many times during just the first minutes of their class.

Some students felt like they would faint out of shock while some were terrified.

Why was it so scary to be able to see mana?

Well, begin able to see mana is a realm only people who have absolute control over mana can do.

And currently, no human can see mana.

Some mana beasts of SSS rank can see mana but they can only see it faintly.

That's why it came as such a huge shock for the students and Lucian.

However, Lucian was only shocked for a second before the same mysterious energy as before ran through his body and calmed him down.

'It's happened again' Lucian thought as he sat back down.

'My emotions have been tampered with' Lucian thought as he clenched his fists and teeth.

He didn't like it when his emotions got tampered with. He feels like a dog and gets reminded of 'that time'.

"Now now, calm down everyone, it's not such a big thing to be able to see mana," Mr. Reverie said with a smug smile and raised hands to 'calm' the class down.

The student's shock quickly turned into irritation as they saw their teachers smug smile

'Does this guy want to get hit in the face?!!' Class 1-A thought Simultaneously

Mr Reverie smiled as if reading their thoughts and proceeded with class.

"Now, you all are going to try to make a simple Hex," Mr Reverie said as he picked up a pen and started to draw on the whiteboard.

"This is the Hex that you all are going to try to draw and use. It's the simplest Hex or spell to draw Fireball.
