CHANCE

The Ghost team returns to the Monk temple to rest for the night. As Mako and James sleep nearby, Jayden finds himself unable to fall asleep. He walks over to the window and gazes at the moonlit scenery. Suddenly, he hears a voice emanating from the Shaman temple. Intrigued, Jayden's attention is drawn to a man who appears to be playing an invisible guitar, dancing his way between the two temples. Jayden continues to observe the man as he turns in Jayden's direction, seemingly sleepwalking. Filled with curiosity, Jayden follows suit and enters the man's Dream. Inside the dream, he finds himself transported to a vibrant concert setting. The man, named Lucas, is on stage, playing the guitar skillfully amidst an enthusiastic crowd. The audience chants Lucas's name repeatedly, and as he strums the guitar, sparks and flames ignite from his fingers and the strings. Lucas's performance becomes increasingly mesmerizing, captivating the crowd's adoration.

As the song reaches its climax, Jayden notices something amiss. Lucas stumbles over his guitar cord, struggling to maintain his balance and prevent himself from falling off the stage. Sensing danger, Jayden swiftly exits the dream, awakening in the real world. He rushes to the window and peers outside, only to see Lucas on the verge of falling over the ledge. Without hesitation, Jayden leaps out of the window, landing gracefully on the second-floor roof. He then runs and jumps onto a nearby pole, sliding down its length. Determined, Jayden sprints to the front of the temple, but to his surprise, there is no sign of Lucas. Fearing the worst, Jayden rushes to the ledge and witnesses Lucas rolling down the hill. Fortunately, Lucas's descent is halted by a tree, preventing him from tumbling further down the slope.

Jayden descends the stairs to where Lucas is located, only to find him still asleep. Concerned, Jayden notices that Lucas is bleeding from his head. Reacting quickly, Jayden removes his shirt and uses it to stem the bleeding. Unexpectedly, Lucas grabs Jayden's wrist and throws him down the hill. Rolling and tumbling, Jayden eventually lands on a brick platform, disoriented. As Jayden tries to comprehend the situation, he sees Lucas also rolling down the hill. Determined to catch Lucas and prevent further harm, Jayden lunges forward, but Lucas bounces off the hill and sails over Jayden's head. Turning around, Jayden witnesses Lucas on the verge of landing headfirst onto the brick floor. Unable to bear witnessing the potential tragedy, Jayden shuts his eyes. Suddenly, he hears a beautiful humming sound and opens his eyes to discover that Lucas has managed to stop his fall using his hands, transitioning into a one handstand and then gracefully flipping back onto his feet, continuing to dance.

Cautiously approaching Lucas, Jayden is wary of the precarious mountain slope. Sneaking up behind Lucas, he attempts to grab him by the waist, but Lucas skillfully backflips out of the grab. Jayden pivots around, and as Lucas seizes Jayden's hands, they start dancing together. Lucas spins Jayden, prompting Jayden to push him away. Adopting a low battle stance, Lucas seems undeterred. Jayden calls out to determine if Lucas is truly asleep, snapping his fingers, but Lucas remains unresponsive, locked in his battle stance. Suddenly, Lucas lunges at Jayden, who skillfully dodges the attack, observing Lucas' incredible fighting skills as he spins and flips with his punches and kicks. However, the intense showcase of skills brings Lucas perilously close to the edge once again. With no other choice, Jayden engages Lucas, attempting a groin kick, but Lucas expertly blocks the strike and counterattacks with a flurry of his own. Jayden defends himself, but Lucas delivers a powerful Buddha palm strike to Jayden's stomach, launching him into the air. Upon impact with the ground, Jayden loses consciousness.

Jayden awakens in the void and quickly flies into Lucas's dream. Inside, he finds Lucas engaged in combat with numerous black figures on the stage. Jayden flies toward Lucas and tackles him through the stage, causing them to bounce off the dream bubble dome repeatedly. Jayden realizes that Lucas is reveling in the moment. Placing his hand on Lucas's head, Jayden emits a faint glow as he utters a single word, "Sleep." Lucas's emotions subsides, and the dream bubbles darken. Calmly releasing Lucas, Jayden allows him to float in the middle of the dream. Suddenly, Jayden is pulled out of Lucas's dream bubble. As Jayden awakens, he finds the Shaman Master pouring ice-cold water on him. Concerned, she inquires about his well-being. Jayden reassures her that he's fine and she asks how he managed to halt Lucas's sleepwalking. Glancing at Lucas, who is now sleeping peacefully on the floor, Jayden, exhausted, explains that he will share the details in the morning before settling back down and quickly falling asleep. The Shaman Master shakes her head and applauds as several human figure dolls descend the stairs carrying a wooden platform. They place Lucas and Jayden on it and carry them back up the stairs.

As the sun rises, its rays filter into the room where Mako and James are sound asleep. Mako awakens to find Jayden missing and immediately begins searching for him. He heads to another room and accidentally comes across Grace in the midst of changing, quietly withdrawing from the scene. Filled with worry, Mako rushes outside, calling out Jayden's name. The rest of the Ghost team emerges from their slumber, witnessing Mako's frantic search. Their attention is then drawn to a group of monks engaged in meditation nearby. Grace signals for Mako to be silent, and the team stealthily approaches the Shaman temple. Grace knocks on the door, which is opened by Lucas, holding a lute in his arms. Lucas instructs them to bow down before the Shaman Master, leaving the group bewildered. Playing his lute, Lucas prompts them to bow again, concluding with a high note from the bottom string of his lute. A sudden pressure descends upon their shoulders, compelling them to bow down involuntarily. James, unfortunately, ends up landing face-first on the ground during his bow.

The Shaman Master emerges from the temple, wielding her fan, and questions their purpose for being there. James and Holly struggle to raise their heads, while Mako manages to lift his slightly. Grace slowly rises to her feet. Lucas plays his lute once more, restoring their freedom of movement. Grace expresses her confusion regarding Lucas's ability to make them bow. In response, Mako swiftly jumps up and launches a front kick at Lucas. The Shaman Master skillfully blocks the kick with her fan and apologizes for Lucas's behavior. Mako is astonished by the Shaman Master's impressive speed in deflecting his attack. Holly helps James up, finding him still bowing. Confused, James explains that he believed they were supposed to continue bowing. The Shaman Master confirms that Jayden is still asleep inside the temple.

They all enter the room where Jayden is sleeping. Grace emphatically stomps on the bed, causing Jayden to jolt awake. She angrily questions whether Jayden has any idea what time it is. Jayden splashes water on his face while Mako explains that they are there to collect the wooden crown that the Shaman Master was supposed to make for Wiz. The Shaman Master recognizes Mako as Wiz's son and explains that they will need to wait a little longer, as the crown requires more time to soak in the specially prepared monk-made water. She reveals a box filled with water, inside which lies the wooden crown, surrounded by numerous paper seals. Jayden then poses a question about how the Shamans and Monks can have a paradise after death. Intrigued, the Shaman Master inquires how Jayden came to know such information. Jayden reveals his ability to dream walk, surprising the Shaman Master. She realizes that Jayden used this ability to stop Lucas's sleepwalking and expresses her delight in hearing about Jayden's extraordinary gift.

The Shaman Master proceeds to explain that approximately 800 years ago, a man possessing incredible spiritual powers granted the Monks, Shamans, and Saints a glimpse of the afterlife. However, it was their responsibility to channel enough spiritual power to create their own paradises in the afterlife. Over the course of hundreds of years, each group managed to harness enough spiritual power to fashion their own afterlife realms, only those who belonged to one of the three groups is allowed into these paradise.

Jayden inquires of the Shaman Master why the gifted man from 800 years ago did not bestow paradises upon everyone else in the world. The Shaman Master replies simply, stating that the man passed away after granting the three groups their paradises. Curious, Jayden wonders if there is still a chance of providing everyone with an afterlife paradise. The Shaman Master responds by suggesting that the bloodline of the gifted man may still exist, and perhaps his descendants possess or do not possess the same gift. Intrigued, Jayden asks where these descendants could be. The Shaman Master opens her fan and lets her lips smack together, expressing her lack of knowledge on the matter. Lucas interjects, remarking that the Shaman Master does not resemble a history teacher who keeps track of such things, emphasizing that her role is to focus on their own Shaman history and pass it down to the next generation.

Grace playfully slaps Jayden's head and queries how much longer the crown will take. In response, the Shaman Master takes a bowl of flower petals and pours them into the box of water where the crown rests. The petals float around the crown, creating a serene atmosphere. Lucas speaks up, stating that the Shaman Master will inform them when the crown is ready. He also suggests that in the meantime, they can assist him with a task assigned by the Shaman Master. Mako questions whether they will be paid for their efforts. Lucas affirms, but explains that the payment will be in the form of hugs and kisses. Everyone declines the offer, except for Jayden, who expresses his willingness to accept. Jayden asks for further details about the job, and Lucas explains that he needs to visit a villager's house regularly to calm the mind of a possessed young girl so that she can rest. Jayden wonders why this task needs to be performed continuously.

Lucas clarifies that he lacks the power to put spirits to rest, but he can help ease the girl's mind. He adds that the spirit possessing her is her grandmother, who uses the girl's body to carry out daily chores, which isn't particularly harmful. However, Lucas's role is to calm the girl's mind so that the grandmother's spirit will depart from her body. Nevertheless, the spirit always returns. Jayden inquires about the time of possession, and Lucas explains that it typically occurs in the morning. If he fails to calm the girl's mind, the grandmother's spirit will continue to perform chores throughout the day. Aware of Jayden's abilities, Lucas earnestly implores him for assistance. Jayden accepts the job, surprising everyone else. He declares that he will be the only one receiving all the hugs and kisses. Lucas leads them out of the temple, ready to embark on their new endeavor.

The Ghost team exits the limo upon reaching the village, and Lucas remains infatuated with Sasha's beauty, still sitting inside the vehicle. Grace pulls him out, and he leads them to the house, as they enter the house it appears noticeably clean. They realize that the girl is not inside the house, prompting Jayden to walk to the back and find her preparing baskets of fruits and fish. The rest of the team joins him, noticing the girl's pale eyes. As the possessed girl spots Lucas, she sits quietly on a bench. Jayden signals Lucas to proceed. Lucas takes out his lute and begins playing a calming song, captivating the girl, who closes her eyes and sways gently to the music. James starts moving side to side as well, but Holly stops him. Lucas concludes the song with a high note on the bottom string, causing the girl to open her eyes, no longer possessed. She looks around, seeing the team and Lucas. Jayden is found sleeping on the ground, and Lucas questions why he chose to sleep in the dirt. Mako explains that he needed to be close for convenience.

Jayden awakens in the limbo world and observes the ghostly figure of the blindfolded grandmother entering a spatial warp. Grabbing his nearby lantern, Jayden follows her, flying and positioning himself in front of her in the void. Jayden reaches into her glowing chest, entering her soul. Inside the house, Jayden witnesses the grandmother carrying out her daily chores and picking food from the garden, while the young girl watches, and the ill grandfather is ignored. Jayden begins to walk all around the house in a fast pace. The girl is left alone with the dying grandfather as the grandmother goes out to sell food. Returning from selling her food, the grandmother discovers the lifeless grandfather in bed, with the little girl crying. After giving him a long stare, she continues her chores and eventually buries the body far away, observed by the girl. The grandmother persists in her daily work. One day, she dies while selling food at the market, and the little girl waits at home, longing for her return. As days pass and the girl begins to starve, she creates her own Ouija board. Using the board, the girl calls out to her grandmother, and the spirit of the grandmother emerges, entering the little girl's body. The girl continues to work tirelessly, saving money to sustain herself. Jayden, tirelessly wandering all over the house, finally calms down, lifts his lantern, and puts the grandmother's soul to rest. Exiting the soul, Jayden witnesses the ghost of the grandmother fading into a soul form and wandering off into the darkness of the void. Jayden awakens and informs the team that the task is complete.

Lucas affectionately pats the girl's head, assuring her that she no longer needs to worry. Jayden then instructs his team to teach her the daily chores, how to sell her food at the market, and to stay at the house until she is ready to be independent. They all agree, and Lucas and Jayden relax near the market. Grace instructs the girl on selling and pricing, while Mako, Holly and James assist with the sales as customers come by to buy the food. Lucas expresses relief that he no longer has to come down to the village. Jayden remarks that if it hadn't been for the grandmother possessing her, the girl would have perished. Lucas questions whether possessing a soul also leads to the death of the body. Jayden explains that the grandmother did not intend to fully take over the girl's body, as she only cared for her well-being. He clarifies that the girl was fortunate that when she called out to her deceased grandmother, it was actually her spirit. Lucas asks if the girl intentionally summoned her grandmother's dead spirit, to which Jayden nods. Lucas comments that the girl chose to become possessed to stay alive. Lucas further mentions that when he sleeps, he needs to place a paper seal on his head to prevent sleepwalking at night. Jayden asks how he ended up forgetting to put the paper seal on last night. Lucas replies that he accidentally fell asleep while reading, causing him to overlook the usual precaution.

As night falls, they all settle down in the girl's house and drift off to sleep, including Lucas who carefully places a paper seal on his head. However, in the middle of the night, the girl quietly rises from her bed and retrieves the self-made Ouija board. She hurries to the back of the house, calling out desperately to her grandma, but there is no response. She pleads and weeps, hoping for her grandma's presence. Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind sweeps through the house, blowing off the paper seal from Lucas's head. Lucas starts sleep walking and dancing energetically, creating a commotion that disturbs Grace and Mako from their sleep. Mako notices the fallen paper seal and picks it up, puzzled by the situation. Grace attempts to restrain Lucas, but he resists, engaging in a playful fight. Grace narrowly avoids a punch as Lucas executes a backflip and dashes outside the house. Holly and James also awaken to the commotion and join the others outside. However, Jayden remains asleep, unaware of the chaos unfolding around him.

In his slumber, Jayden experiences a nightmarish vision, finding himself in his old house, observing a younger version of himself peacefully sleeping in his room. As Jayden ventures further, he witnesses the horrifying sight of his father violently attacking his siblings and mother at the dining table. Overwhelmed with anguish, Jayden screams and lunges at them, but they fade away, leaving him distraught. Jayden crumbles to his knees, overcome with grief, and cries out in his dream, expressing his desire for a chance to save his family. In that moment, Jayden's father's smiling face materializes before him. Filled with rage and desperation, Jayden rushes toward him and wraps his hands around his father's throat, demanding that he leave his family alone. In response, his father whispers hauntingly into Jayden's ear, uttering the words, "No chance."
