Afterlife of The Fallen

It’s been ten years since Comet was with his parents. He was under the impression that it was all his fault and that he shouldn’t be sad, so, at a young age, he stood up and took care of his twin siblings, Kaleb and Katie. After getting ambushed by his egotistical classmates, he experiences a dream or a nightmare? He wakes up to find he is stranded and suddenly returns to the dream, ending in an untimely demise. Comet is forced to find a way to lose a shadow entity and find his home to feed his siblings. After getting cornered, Comet encounters a strange yet familiar man who goes by the name Sothis. Upon meeting Sothis, Comet is yet again thrusted into the cycle of rebirth and is imprisoned to experience the reality he caused as punishment. "The feeling of being watched is something I often experience. Who could it be, or rather, what could it be? I know what I'm feeling is real; I'm not crazy. If there were an answer, I'd like to find it, but maybe it's better left unknown."

Chapter 14.5: Before The Reunion

Aye ya!

It's getting way too late now…

How will he feed them now? He's bruised up and in pain. I can feel it from here. The resulting shockwaves of fear, dread, and pain are being expelled from him.

He's having a nightmare.

I was atop an apartment building behind the store they dragged Comet to. Those two showed no mercy, dragged him away, and took away his food.

Now we're here. I wonder how he'll react when he wakes up.

I say that because he's wholly stranded now, and this barrier…

This isn't my doing. It must be a mirage belonging to one of them. Because of that, it's gotten quieter.

That face he's making, it's started…

"Comet…" I whispered to myself.

Our reunion is so close. There's no telling what'll happen this time. All we can do is hope that fate will be in our favor.

"Oh, he's waking up."

A void's nearby. For now, I'll let it chase Comet to corner him myself. Then, I'll activate the start of his reawakening through his heart.

"Where the hell is the food!?" Comet shouted, hopping from the large pile of trash.

It's strange; after waking up, Comet would usually feel what he felt in his dream. Maybe that's for the better, though.

"10:30!?" Comet shouted, looking at his phone.

He's furious, panicked, and confused all at the same time. Not that I blame him.

A light blue flame formed from his heart; of course, it wasn't visible to him.

He's lost, panicking, and attempting to find his house. If only I could do more to help, but I'm confined to watching.

The void formed where the lamppost's light didn't reflect off of.

Right there. Now, all we need to do is wait for Comet to get cornered, which will make this process easier. It'd be best if he went into some building.

Comet noticed its presence, and now they're in a cat-and-mouse game.

I followed them throughout the chase, jumping from building to building and fences when needed.

'Comet'

Luna… It's been a while since I heard her voice. Unsurprisingly, she's just as impatient as I am to contact him now.

'Comet'

'I'm sorry'

'Your burden'

'The cycle must continue…'

We're sorry, Comet. The burden that was placed on you…

I could see Luna running beside Comet, following him in the mall and invisible to him.

There wasn't much either of us could do. It was unfortunate, but it's the way it is.

After the chase continued through the mall, the void cornered Comet in this long hallway. The fake door doesn't seem to be this void's doing. Considering the area was in a barrier… It wasn't out of the question that more were involved. That means I have no choice but to step in now!

'Kardia, Hearts Barrier Blast!'

'Activate'

I whispered the last word.

The void leaped at Comet, and his heart reacted, causing an immense explosion.

Holy moly! That was awesome! It just got eviscerated!

"Huh… HUH?!"

"How'd that happen…?"

"Woah! That was a huge energy burst! Didn't think this time would be so awesome!"

"Shit!"

"Listen, I was just heading home. I need to get back to my hungry siblings."

And the conversation went on. It's been so long since I've got the opportunity to talk to Comet face-to-face. It's awesome that the wait is finally over.

After managing to converse with Comet and hand him his constellation container, we were just about to head out when…

"What the!?" Comet shouted in shock, clenching his abdomen.

So that's what happened earlier; before being chased, he returned to that dream only for its effect to occur now.

Not only that, but I was also right about there being multiple voids. Of course, I was.

The effect was already coursing through Comet's body, which was already tremendous. From every angle, invisible appendages came out from the walls, impaling Comet. This was increasing his suffering and pressure exponentially! It just kept going up!

They couldn't take him out before, so their last attempt was this!? In front of me??

IT WON'T END THIS FAST!

There's no telling how it will go this time. All we can do is hope it doesn't end in failure.
