Chapter 35: Distraction.

"Come on Meadow you have to come, it's Quidditch" Sirius whined early on Saturday morning. It was a week after the failed prank by the Slytherins and I was glad to say that I was human once more. I had to spend two freaking days as the cat and trust me, you wouldn't want to. Not only did I get weird looks walking down the corridor and not running from anyone (except when they went to stroke me that is) but I couldn't do anything else even when Sirius was scratch me behind the ears. Although I hissed at him multiple times because I didn't like it, he kept doing resulting in me biting him. I didn't want to but I couldn't help it, he should of got the message it was obviously pissing me off. Anyway, I couldn't do the homework I wanted to do early and I couldn't clean myself either - there was no way that I was going to bath like normal cats do. I even struggled sleeping at night because I couldn't find a comfortable position, I had no clue how normal cats did this all night every night but I struggled that's for sure.

My little 'kitty crisis' as James and Sirius like to call it consisted of them making cat related jokes which would only resulting in a glare. I knew that if I was to meow they would just laugh loudly like they always did they were nice enough to protect me from other students giving me weird looks and trying to pet me. The thing is the situation ended up getting really out of control when walking down the corridors so not only did my friends walk with me like my personal bodyguards but Sirius even resorted to carrying me around everywhere like he did the day of the prank when we first went to see Remus. I didn't really mind to be honest, I got really tired as a cat and very quickly so it gave me a chance to recharge. That was one of my major downfalls about being a cat, getting tired out quickly. Naomi said it had something to do with my size and that I will have a lot less energy because I'm smaller but I don't know. I hate muggle science and didn't really understand it, wait no wait scratch that (no pun intended) I didn't understand it at all.

"I've got studying to do, exams are only in a couple of months and I'd rather pass them" I argued back, taking a bite out of my toast. I knew that they really wanted me to come watch them play against Hufflepuff but my homework pile was quickly increasing and I really had to finish some of the assignments.

"It's only a couple of hours, it won't hurt" James tried to persuade me but I only shook my head. It was one game I was missing, what was the big deal?

"You've been cooped up inside all week Mead, your coming out if you like it or not" Remus ordered with a serious look on his face. I tried to argue back using homework as an excuse and tried to bring up our end of year exams but he wasn't hearing it. "I don't care, your coming out. We can study later, besides we still have three months until our exams take place, two hours won't hurt."

I let out a long sigh through my nose and look down at the food on my plate. Remus did have a point we still did have a while until exams but that still didn't decrease my mountain of homework. I did kind of want to go but I really couldn't. But then I've never seen a Quidditch match before (I never went to any in our first year because no one I knew would be playing so what's the point and I had to miss the one against Slytherin in November because I was busy worrying about the full moon and so I decided that Quidditch wouldn't calm my nerves). "You know what fuck it, let's go" I announced getting up from my seat with the others. James, Peter, Naomi and Sirius cheered loudly but Remus had to say language before joining in on the fun. I guess it's time to watch Quidditch.

"Potter takes the Quaffle and passes it too Bennett but ooh Hufflepuff's Beater Walker shoots a bludger at Bennett knocking him off his broom" the commentator announced. The crowds were very loud in this moment of time and the scores wasn't exactly close either. Hufflepuff were somehow ahead with ninety points whereas we were only on forty. It seemed like Hufflepuff had picked up a few of Slytherin's tricks and the only trick I mean is playing dirty. The two beaters always seemed on the bludgers' tail and there was never a moment they wasn't hitting them towards Gryffindor team. Our two beaters Fabian and Gideon were struggling to keep up with the other two and had just resorted to guarding the player with the Quaffle and our seeker. It had mostly worked so far as only one of our chasers had fallen but he quickly got back up and started to play again.

"I don't think we're going to win this" Naomi muttered under her breath, looking through Remus' binoculars to try and get a better view of what was happening out there. It believed her but I had a strange feeling that somehow Gryffindor was going to catch up with the scores and maybe even win.

"They must of got the moves from the Ravenclaw and Slytherin game, only the Slytherins play this dirty and Slytherins won. They must've thought it would work against us to" Remus observed. I watch James pass the ball to Sirius who then passes it back to James and unexpectedly he scores bringing our total up to fifty, only four more goals and we would be level with Hufflepuff. The crowd roared when we scored and lot's of cheering could be heard throughout the stands. I definitely should of expected the game to be this loud but for some reason I hadn't. It would've been nice to be sitting in the library right about now, writing an essay without a headache but I was enjoying myself here none the less.

As even more timed passed we had scored two more times but unfortunately for us, so had Hufflepuff. There was still no sign of the snitch anywhere and we were all starting to get bored. I could tell that we all had considered leaving and just meeting up with James and Sirius later on but we all came to the same conclusion: we couldn't just leave our best friends. "Gryffindor seeker Duffy has seen the snitch!" the commentator shouted into the microphone making a loud screeching noise echo throughout the stands. We all raised our hands to our ears in pain but we were all to interested in what was going to happen in the skies above. As both of the seekers flew higher and higher the crowds fell silent and watched tense. It was all down to this. Below the two racing seekers, Ravenclaw team stopped to watch the action from their brooms below which Gryffindor took as there advantage and scored a goal which woke the Ravenclaw team up.

Whilst the players below continued to score points and avoid bludgers, the two seekers still flew around high up trying to catch the snitch before the other did. Most of the time they were neck and neck and one would only inch forward slightly depending on which way the wind was blowing. Each time one of the two tried reaching out to grab the snitch but missing, the other would take their turn as if it was a game. I mean it was but not that sort of game. When it was our seeker's turn again he reached forward and grabbed the snitch fully making the crowd go wild. "She's got it, Duffy has caught the snitch earning Gryffindor a hundred and fifty points and winning the game" was heard throughout the stands but only barely as everyone was to busy shouting at the top of their voices. Now I had to avoid the after party.

"Get back here Meadow" Sirius shouted after me as he chased me down the halls. I was trying to get away from the after party obviously but unfortunately for me, Sirius had seen me leaving the common room and was trying to get me to go back. As we ran along, our footsteps and laughter echoed down the halls probably confusing anyone in the area, I mean two students running around the castle late at night would be unexpected. Somehow Sirius hadn't caught me yet despite being much taller and more athletic but I had a feeling he was only doing it to drag the chase on, not that I minded except that I was starting to get a bit tired.

Finally he caught me and we toppled to the floor in laughter but a stern voice coughed to the side of us and when we looked up, McGonagall stood hovering over us. "Come to my office Mr. Black, Miss Lupin" was all she said turning on her heel and walking in the direction of her office. After a couple of seconds, we got up and followed her, giggling quietly as we went. It was only mere minutes until we were stood in front of the older woman's desk trying to contain our laughter. "I'm presuming you were the two making a ruckus down the corridors" she said, looking at us expectantly.

"I don't know what your on about Minnie" Sirius lied, trying to hide a smirk. I however just remained quiet, he was the one making most of the noise so he can get us out of this mess.

"Are you lying to me?" She asked.

"Well that depends on how you define lying" Sirius responded.

"Well I define it as not telling the truth. How do you define it?"

"Reclining your body in a horizontal position."

We all stood there in silence trying to not to laugh (or me and Sirius were anyway) but none of us dared break it. It would be a miracle if we got away without a detention after this and Remus would be mad if I got a detention. At least I could blame it all on Sirius and I would probably be spared, not that I wanted Sirius to get blamed but it would be funny. After At least another three minutes she finally spoke. "Get out of my office" was all she said, taking a seat.

"Absolutely" Sirius grinned, grabbing my hand and pulling me out of the door but not before shouting "bye Minnie."

We ran down the hall hand in hand and laughed all the way up the marble staircase. "How the heck did we get away with that?" I laughed.

"I don't know but that was amazing" he said between breaths.

It was indeed.
