Chapter 26: The Malfoy.

"Come on Meadow, your going to have to get up at some point" Lily whined, trying to pull me out of my four-poster. Considering the fact that I hadn't slept in over forty-eight hours before last night, I believed that I should be granted a lay in and preferably not go to classes for today. Of course no one was going to give me that but I can still wish for it and no one can stop me from doing so.

"No, want sleep" I murmured, cuddling into the blanket. I wasn't cold but I would do anything to let me stay in bed.

"You do realize that your going to miss breakfast at this rate" the voice of Marlene added trying to persuade me to leave my bed. Grumbling into my pillow, I tell her that I didn't care and went back to my much needed nap. I didn't full fully asleep knowing that the girls were all watching me but I did the best I could. With a sigh, the sound of footsteps from the girls left the room leaving me presumably alone unless one of the girls were still grabbing something. I lay there in silence with my eyes closed not hearing any movement in the room so Lily, Marlene and Alice must of all left the room for a while.

The sound of the door opening with a quiet creak woke me up from my short nap and a hand shakes my shoulder gently. I let out a groan as who I thought was Lily tried to get me to leave the dorm for upcoming classes. "Come on Sis your going to have to leave your bed at some point. It's either you get up by yourself or I will get James and Sirius to get you up, your choice" Remus' voice said. I opened my eyes slightly too see that my brother was in fact here somehow.

"How did you get in here? Boys can't enter the girl's dorms" I groan groggily, sitting myself up in bed. Remus laughed gently and handed me my school robes which I had left out upon my trunk the night prior.

"The girls stood on the stairs so it didn't turn into a slide. Now get up, we are going to be late! You really don't want to be late to Transfiguration do you?" With a roll of my eyes, I disappear into the bathroom and change into my robes (I didn't have time to get a shower so I would have to get one later that evening or tomorrow morning). Remus had stayed seated on my bed the entire time, petting Lynx as she had only just gotten up too. He had also sorted out her food and got my books together for the day ahead.

He stood and handed me my books when I left the bathroom, so I quietly thanked him as he led me out of the dorm. The common room was mostly silent as most students were now on their way to their first class of the day which also meant that I didn't have time to get any breakfast which was kind of my fault to be fair I guess. I value sleep more than food though so I didn't really care.

As we ran quickly to Transfiguration on the first floor -six floors below us which was really annoying- we stayed silent not talking about anything as we didn't have the time too. All that could be heard was our loud panting and our heavy footsteps echoing through the corridor. We reached the classroom just on time where James, Sirius and Peter were already waiting for us (surprisingly) in our usual back row. Exhausted from the run, Remus and I collapse into our chairs, Remus in between James and Peter with me in the corner beside the window with Sirius to my left. Pulling out a roll of parchment, quill, ink bottle and my book I place them on the table and fold my arms, resting my head on them like a pillow.

To my left, Sirius nudged me in the ribs as Minnie just started her class causing me to snap my head towards him. Hidden from the entire class, he handed me two pieces of toast on a napkin under the table which I would be forever grateful for. "Thank you" I mouthed, taking a quiet bite out of the first piece which luckily because I was at the back no one could see it and snitch.

As I was halfway through my second and final piece of toast later that lesson, Minnie's eyes land on me and she could clearly see the food as I'd lifted it ready to take another bite. I just freeze in place not knowing what to do before she sent me a curt nod and turned her attention elsewhere as if she'd saw nothing. She didn't say anything either so I presumed she didn't mind but let's just hope that would last unless she was waiting for a good time to humiliate me in front of the class. Minnie wouldn't do that though, would she? Now I think about it, she probably would...

"Hey Nomi" I groaned coming out of History of Magic still half asleep. That lesson was the one lesson Remus allowed me to sleep in knowing I was exhausted and how I was if I didn't get the sleep I required to function.

"Hello Med, how are you feeling?" She asked politely as we followed behind the boys as we took a walk to the charms classroom. I mutter the one word 'tired' making her laugh as the other looked back to check that we hadn't been lost in the crowd. As we were the short ones of our group (James' words not mine) the boys constantly kept an eye on us as if we were toddlers and going to wander off. I guess they did kind of have a point though as I am the second shortest there with Naomi being only a inch or two shorter but I've always grown slowly so it was only a matter of time before Naomi overtakes me leaving me as the shortest there.

Whilst walking down the corridors, a trio of Slytherin's shoved Naomi out of the way as they strutted ahead. Because neither of us expected it though, we both ended up falling over drawing the attention of the boys. All four of them had hurried over to our side helping us up and glaring at the Slytherins that were just turning the corner as they went to their next class. "Do you understand why I hate all but one Slytherin now?" Sirius growled, glaring daggers at anyone from that house.

"Siri, cut it out. It's fine don't worry about it okay?" I reassure him. He nods and we let James lead the group to the charms class with Sirius and Remus walking either side of me and Naomi so they could protect us if necessary. I personally thought they were over reacting but whatever helped them sleep at night.

Walking into Charms class, Professor Flitwick told us all to stand at the back of the room so he could seat us where he had planned to. I was hoping that we could sit where we wanted but the small teacher had other plan obviously. As the last of the students walked in, Professor Flitwick began to tell us the seats we would sit at.

"So here we have Black, Fortescue, Potter, Naomi, Lupin (as in Remus) and Evans. Then can we have in the row in front Dolahov, McKinnon-" From then on I tuned completely out of the lesson, It turns out that I would be sitting no where near any of my friends this you and was instead seated on the opposite side of the classroom beside Malfoy. I'd never spoken to him before but then again, I didn't want to start up another argument concerning Slytherin friends. I also don't think our house prefect would be very happy either considering the fact that we were against the Slytherins in the house war event.

While Flitwick begun his class, I zoned out completely and ended up doodling small shapes on the corner of my parchment. It wasn't to be handed in anyway so I really didn't care what the professor says even if he caught me not paying attention. To my right, Malfoy got closer to me before he began to become really annoying.

"Pst, I've hear rumours that you and a certain friend of yours are together. Is it true?" He asked, whispering so he wouldn't get caught. I frown deeply thinking about who the boy is referring to before he let out a low chuckle. "I'm talking about the blood traitor."

"What blood traitor? I don't see one in my group of friends" I replied normally, jotting some notes down onto my piece of parchment.

"Don't play stupid with me, you know I'm talking about Sirius" Malfoy hissed dipping his quill into his ink pot. Millions of thoughts ran through my head but I only asked one of them.

"Why are their rumours going around about Sirius and I? We are only friends" I whispered back. Another quiet laugh came out of Malfoy as he leaned back closer to me.

"The Hufflepuffs did see you in the Astronomy Tower the other day y'know. They saw how you were acting towards him and they just simply passed around the information" Malfoy smirked. I still didn't see why we were having this conversation in the first place or why I didn't just back out of it in the first place but from then on I ignored him. He would probably tell the school that Sirius and I are 'confirmed' dating but I would rather that than miss out on my studies because of him.

Malfoy seemed to of sensed that I wasn't going to reply anytime soon, so he moved away from me and started jotting down more notes as the rest of the class was. I also jotted them down and when I looked back up, I watched Sirius and James fool around and doing the complete opposite of what we were meant to. I let out a breath of laughter and continued to glance over every now and again.

For the next twenty-five minutes, I sat there in silence. Malfoy hadn't turned back to talk at all and just sat there with his head on his hand. Slowly and quietly, I pull my wand from out of my inside pocket and hide it up my robe sleeve. I didn't plan to harm the boy but just show him who he was up against.

Without hesitation, I wave my wand transforming the Malfoy's bleach blond hair into a deep scarlet using a spell I learned over the summer. He didn't seem to realize anything at first and stayed facing away from me and as we were near the back no one realized apart from the boys, Naomi and Marlene who sat their snickering. All of us were trying very hard to not laugh out loud all of while Professor Flitwick droned on. It might of seemed bad but I still wasn't listening. In my defence though, he was only recapping last year which I remembered perfectly (somehow, I have a bad memory after all) which doesn't bother me in the slightest.

A loud girlish scream is let out to my right from none other than the Slytherin boy. His scream drew the whole classes' attention and soon enough the entire class was laughing at him. Even Lily held a smile on her face which was something. Annoyed from the interruption, the Professor calmed down the class and changed Malfoy's hair back into it's usual bleach blond colour (unfortunately).

The boy leaned back over to me as the class quietened down and he whispered to me once more. "I'm honestly surprised your not in Slytherin due to how cunning you are. Feel free to call me Lucius by the way. I was also wondering if you'd like to sit with me and some of my other friends at lunch?"

"I'd love to and you can just call me Meadow if you like." Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Sirius glaring at Lucius and I getting along but I didn't care. Lucius seemed nice so I liked being his friend.
