The Duo of Priest and Archer

"So, did you choose your classes?"

Both women shook their heads simultaneously.

"No, we didn't. Though we had already taken a look over all the available Classes there. It's quite similar to an early day's game."

Nehar nodded his head affirmatively at Grace's comment.

"Each of them has some strengths and also some weaknesses. They are quite balanced from the start. Do we just need to choose one from them and we will automatically learn the skills of that particular Class?"

 Amelia asked Nehar.

Nehar confirmed her thought, "Yes, just by choosing you can easily learn the basic skills of a particular Class. Then it is up to you how you level up your skills, class, and levels. It is similar to a game."

"So, which Class did you choose?"

"I didn't choose any", Nehar truthfully answered Amelia.

 "Eh…Why? Don't you need a Class too?"

"I do need it, but I will choose it later, at a specific point. I have something in mind regarding that."

After Nehar answered, Amelia didn't ask any more questions about it.

After all, it was personal information and he could have chosen not to answer it at all. Still, he replied and it was more than enough.

"Still, will you be alright without a Class at the beginning? I went through the details and learned that every Class will give free stat points and skill proficiency points for every five level-ups. Don't you need them?"

Grace asked Nehar this time. She was quite worried about his decision not to choose a Class.

"It's okay, Aunt Grace. I know what I'm doing. You don't have to worry about me."

 Grace didn't inquire further.

"So, which Class do you think we should choose? After all, you asked for our help before, so we should choose something that ultimately helps you in the long run, right?"

Grace asked Nehar when he was explaining the basic nature of those Classes to Amelia.

After hearing her question, Nehar nodded his head.

"Although it will be good for me in the long run if you choose according to my preferences, it would be detrimental to you. If you don't have the proper mindset of a particular Class, you'll die horribly in a battle. As I already told you, we have to fight monsters and other creatures and this is not a game. Here you would not be able to change your Class easily."

After Nehar finished speaking, Amelia asked him in a curious tone, "So, we can change our Classes later?"

Nehar stopped himself for a moment before answering her question.

He was continuously providing them with information, which he shouldn't have done in the first place.

Just to clear their basic doubts and to have them as future companions, he had to explain many things to them.

But letting out more wouldn't be beneficial to him.

Moreover, he had no plan of coming under the radar of a Lackey or a Handler just at the beginning.

It could prove to be detrimental to his future growth.

"I can't answer much about that. Just know that you will able to change your respective Classes in the future either by advancing in it or choosing a Special Class or something like that."

Nehar didn't bother to speak in more detail.

The existence of the Special Classes or Hidden Classes were confidential secrets of the Rankers and High-Rankers.

It wouldn't bode well for him if that information gets leaked by any means.

Anyone of the Rankers or High-Rankers would be able to kill him with a flick of their finger despite the System penalty.

Thus, he chose to remain silent about this matter for now.

Grace and Amelia seemed to understand his position as they didn't ask any more about it.

"Will we be under continuous surveillance of the System?"

 Amelia asked him.

This was a topic that specifically made her quite frustrated.

She was a woman not to be controlled by any means. Thus, living under the constant radar of some omnipotent AI God System was completely unacceptable to her.

Nehar understood her thoughts very well and laughed internally.

 What a rebellious child!

"First of all, the System doesn't control us in any way. You can refuse the System's order if you are capable of doing it. So, don't worry, it will not force you to do something which you don't want. And as for the surveillance, I can give you two a little guidance."

Nehar started explaining the basic surveillance system in the Tutorial Phase to them.

"Generally, the System will control the whole world, so it wouldn't have time to look over everyone. So, the general system of surveillance is divided into small groups. Although I don't know about all of them, there are generally four groups for this purpose, at least in the upcoming Tutorial Phase. The First Group is known as the "Lackeys". Though they are the lowest group and handle most of the groundwork, it's better not to look down on them. Their average Level is above 50 and most of them are in the range of Level 50 – 100."

Amelia was going to laugh at the term lackeys, but then she heard their average Level is above 50.

She became petrified.

She took a small glance at her Profile, it was still Level 0.

No wonder he specifically mentioned not to look down upon them.

By any chance, if I had met one in the future and laughed at his/her embarrassing title, it would turn out to be a death sentence for me.

Though she didn't know about the Penalty System, it was still true that she wouldn't be able to withstand a single hit from any of them.

 Nehar continued his explanation.

"The Second Group is called the Handlers. After Lackeys, they control most of the things. As far as I know, their average Level is in the range of 100 – 200."

Nehar saw the flushed expressions of those women when he mentioned the average Level.

Looks like they now understand how vast the world is.

 Hehehe....

"The next two groups are called The Observers and The Enforcers. Sorry to say, I don't know much about them."

 Nehar finished his explanation.

He very much knew about The Observers and The Enforcers, as in his past life he was also one of them.

Still, he didn't give out that knowledge.

There was no need for it.

What he told them, was more than enough to serve its purpose well for now.

Both the women were already quite overwhelmed with that much information, so they didn't ask for more.

When Nehar was going to ask something, Amelia blurted out something odd.

"Hey, my Wisdom stat has increased by 2."

Grace also blurted the same words at that moment.

"Yeah, the same happened for me too."

Then they both looked at Nehar at the same moment.

He was also quite taken aback.

He didn't know such a thing was possible even after living for more than 80 years in his past life.

Both women looked at each other and nodded their heads in mutual understanding.

Their Wisdom stat increased as they learned many things about the new world, the System, and its regulations from him.

They were not that dull to deduce this simple information.

Amelia was inwardly happy, as her choice to follow him had already proved itself correct.

As for Grace, no one knew what she was thinking at that moment.

 ---

"Ahem, I think we should go back to the topic where we started", Nehar spoke awkwardly as he had also no idea that something like this would happen.

 He even complained mentally.

Their Wisdom stats increased after listening to my words, as they had obtained new information about this world, the System, and the Tutorial.

Then why the hell my Wisdom stat is still at 0?

I was the one to provide them with all this new information, then why?

The System really is unfair to the good people.

"Yes, we need to choose our Classes."

 "Yes."

Both of them answered at the same time.

Nehar knew they were expecting his opinion, so he thought about telling them a little.

"While my preference is fighting in the front lines, I need people to support me. You can say my role will be quite similar to a Warrior or Swordsman and I will require support from back. Though there are some good Classes present for the support role purpose, I think the best would be three of them; Priest, Healer, and Archer.

I don't know about what Amelia will choose, but for my fighting style, a Priest is needed."

Nehar finished talking and looked at Grace.

 Grace understood his gesture.

So, he wants me to take the role of Priest.

Though, I don't know whether it will be good or bad for me, I think I'll trust him this time too.

And I don't even know why the hell am I trusting him so much…we never shared a bond of trust between us before.

"Fine, I'll take the role of the Priest. But you better explain the roles of it to me."

 Grace questioned Nehar.

 Nehar sighed.

So, she will stand behind me, at least for now.

He couldn't help but praise the woman internally.

He would've never gambled his fighting chance if someone else was there to give him the same idea.

Amelia asked her skeptically, "Mom, are you sure? You can choose a better class, like Caster or Healer too, you know. The Priest Class is not quite good in healing or fighting. Their main purpose is to provide the Team with regular buffs, wards, debuffs, etc."

Amelia was not quite happy with Nehar's choice.

Why is he trying to gamble with someone's life when he said before that they would've to fight tough battles?

Would not a Caster be more powerful in combat than a measly Priest?

She asked herself in her mind.

Grace didn't comment and just looked at Nehar, wanting him to give an explanation.

"What Amelia said is correct. Priests are not good in melee combat or ranged combat. Their main purpose is to give the Team regular buffs and wards and their healing skills are not that good too."

 Nehar answered truthfully.

He also knew at the start, the Priest Class wouldn't be that powerful.

But in the later phases, hehehe....

Amelia didn't know why Grace had so much trust in him as she asked, "But there is something else that we don't know and you will only explain it when the time comes, am I right?"

 Grace asked Nehar while smirking.

 Nehar laughed softly.

This woman understood him quite well despite being with him for a few hours.

He nodded his head in affirmation, "Obviously, there is something that I'll tell you when the time comes. Trust me, you won't regret it later."

"Then I've no problem with that. Not that I was looking for a fight standing on the front lines. It's good enough for me to provide support from the back. So, what about you Amelia? What are planning to do?"

Amelia had already decided what she would do.

"I will pick the Archer Class as I've already learned professional archery to some degree. It would help me understand the Class better, I think."

 Nehar nodded his head.

 Her judgment was quite correct.

It would help her at the beginning.

 "So, choose your Classes first."

After hearing from him, both women picked their respective Classes.

Grace picked the Priest Class while Amelia chose the Archer Class.

When they finished their business, they noticed they had also received some clothes and basic stuff for their classes in their Inventory.

Nehar already noticed the presence of Inventory in his Status Window too, and he had already started throwing the herbs from his bag into it to store them temporarily.

Nehar looked at them and asked, "So, are you done? Have you checked your Inventories?"

Both of them nodded their heads.

"Should we equip those clothes instead of this?"

Nehar nodded his head in disapproval after hearing Amelia.

"Don't. Just equip the basic staff and weapons for now and try to become familiar with them. As for the clothes and other things, use them when your current ones are in bad shape. Keep it in mind that we have to fight long and bloody battles, so try to conserve them as long as you can."

Both women finally understood why this man wanted them to wear those combat gears before.

It was to conserve their strength and fighting force for later.

While they were trying to become familiar with their weapons and other stuffs, Nehar was patiently waiting for some System Notifications.

It was already over thirty minutes since they were teleported here.

The Tutorial Phase will begin very soon.

[System Alert: Please prepare yourselves. The Tutorial Phase will begin in 1 minute.]

Nehar looked at the notification without showing any emotion.

So, I've already stored everything in the Inventory.

 Another System message popped up.

[System: You have stored your items in the Inventory. Your stored items do not go against the Rules of The Tutorial Phase.]

[System: You are eligible to carry and use your items in the Tutorial Phase.]

[System: You Current Inventory (Beginner Level) : 539/1000]

Nehar looked at those notifications with a satisfied smile on his face.

His hard work for the whole day finally paid off at midnight.

While Amelia was still busy with her bows and arrows, Grace looked over him only to see his smiling face.

She didn't know what to think.

I shouldn't think of those memories anymore.

They were nothing but one-time mistakes.

Nehar commanded them, "Let's go. The Tutorial is about to start."

Grace snapped out of her thoughts and started following him from behind with Amelia.

"Mom, are you alright?" Amelia asked her as she saw the woman was behaving absent-mindedly.

 "I am okay. Let's go."

With that said, the duo of Priest and Archer started walking together, towards the Cross section of the road, to begin their journey in this new world.

At that moment, Nehar had no idea that one day, in the distant future, Demi-Gods and Gods would tremble in fear when they would see the Invincible Duo of Priest and Archer coming at them.

Without his knowledge, Nehar had changed Edoria's future significantly just by his presence in this timeline.
