Grown From Gold

When Erstan woke up, the first thing he tried to find is his laptop.

'Ho! I thought you are gone.' Erstan in his happy thoughts.

This seems hilarious but he forgot to ask himself if he is really just dreaming here in another world. Maybe he just loves his career a lot in Computer Science.

He looks upon Sky's bed and finds it odd. Everything is kept neatly. He doesn't know how Sky keeps his bed. The blanket is folded in a perfect uniform size of the pillows which are stack on it. The bed is also free from creases.

'He must be thought a lot not just with hunting but also with house chores. The sun is already bright but no one woke me up.'

In truth, Erstan was a lazy guy back on Earth. He was always in front of either his phone or his laptop. His mother always scolded him because he was always late for their meal. Maybe the same will happen to him in this new world if I utilize the capability of the necklace.

'I miss them.'

He sorrowfully murmured and remembered what the system told him.

'...you are already dead there.'

Even though he still doesn't know what is really happening to him, one is for sure, his experience right now is real.

He starts to keep his blanket and pillows he used to sleep on while remembering their conversation last night with San's family.

"So, Erstan, what's your plan?" Asked San.

"To tell you the truth, I don't know. I am not used to living here." He answered honestly.

"What do you mean?" Asked again by San. It is like that there is a rule here that San is the only one who has the power to interrogate someone while the other members listen only.

"I came from another place different from here." Erstan just made it sound that he was from somewhere here in this world.

"Then are you lost? You need to be prepared if you travel far away from your home. Did you got robbed?"

"Let's put it that way." Erstan answered.

'Someone just robbed the Earth and I was the victim.' He joked to himself.

"Did you send a letter to your family?"

"Ahmm.... I don't have a family anymore. I am now alone." Erstan bowed his head, ready to cry.

"S-Sorry to ask. But no, you aren't alone." Mon assured.

He saw the other nodding.

After a few minutes of keeping his bed, he puts it in a corner. Behind is his laptop.

"I think it is already neat. I shall go outside now."

"Erstan! You're awake! I thought you will sleep until the evening. How is your wound?"

"Good morning, Ert." He greets while looking at his wounds. He literally forgot that he have wounds because he thought of something else when he woke up.

Ert is only the one in the living room doing something with the seeds. It is of vegetable seeds.

"Weird greeting. But anyway, I wish you having a good morning, too. We already ate breakfast. Eat now. Everything is on the table. Sorry, but our food is not that much."

"No. I am the one who tries to live in your family. I will be the one who's in shame."

Erstan goes to the table and begins eating. The food consists of the cooked rabbit left last night and a half-boiled egg.

'I am not used to eat this kind of food. The egg is also bigger than chicken's.'

"You don't like the food? I can cook another food for you." She asked with a caring voice.

"N-No! You don't need to do that. I was just curious why you don't have rice nor bread."

Huh! Ert was shocked.

"What? Did I say something bad?" My heart is now beating fast guilty of saying something bad and greedy.

'I really hate my mouth. What am I even saying.' Erstan's thoughts.

"No. I was just shocked in you saying rice like nothing." She waves her right hand while holding a small seed.

"Why? It is evil or something?" It made me curious.

"You can say so. Only 'nobles' can have it. Though we have bread in the cabinet. Do you want some? Wait... you just told us that you are not a noble. How come you are looking for rice?" She answered me emphasizing nobles with disgust.

'Only nobles?'

"I am not really one of them. Maybe we just have rice in abundance where I came from. But wait, are your rice here grown from gold?"

I tried to lighten the mood. But I got a shocking reply.

"Yes."

My eyes got large after hearing this.
