2. Crimson

The sky was tinged with red as it was the evening. Being a summer night, the air was warm. The roads had started to become desolate as evening turned to night.

An RV was moving steadily. Axel was driving while Maxwell sat in the passenger seat. Inside the RV, annoying music was blaring.

Felix had a rather peculiar taste in music; he constantly listened to different genres. While some of the music he played was nice, most of it was unpleasant to the ears.

Although Axel usually didn't complain about this, Maxwell and Felix argued about it constantly. As they were vampires, even the slightest noise in the house was audible.

Axel tried to concentrate on the road, but it was hard to endure the irritating music. Maxwell was at the end of his tether, and it was clear he would soon be arguing with Felix.

Axel yelled back, "If you don't turn off that damned music in five seconds, I'll throw you out!" Hearing Axel's threat, Felix turned off the music within a second and went silent.

Maxwell was quite happy to finally have some peace. Compared to Axel and Maxwell, Felix was much more lively and fun. Despite being annoying, his presence was beneficial for the group, helping them momentarily escape from their stressful lives.

Maxwell was the logical one. When Axel acted impulsively, Maxwell would calm him down. Although Axel was generally calm, when he got angry, he saw nothing else. He could cause great destruction, and stopping him would be impossible because his abilities as a vampire made him nearly invincible.

Axel had the ability to control vectors, easily changing the direction of any energy or force. In other words, there was no known way to harm Axel. Since other vampires' abilities were also energy-based, he could easily reflect their powers back at them. Despite being so powerful, Axel had never abused his power.

Axel didn't have grand ambitions; he just wanted a quiet life. He often held himself back because he feared he would become uncontrollable if he got used to killing. Although Maxwell and Felix found this fear irrational, they never stopped supporting Axel. There was a reason for Axel's fear.

Axel's story of becoming a vampire was tragic. A female vampire, attracted by Axel's handsomeness, had turned him into a vampire. In the beginning, Axel refused to drink blood, and as a result, he was mocked and bullied by the female vampire's group. Though Axel initially didn't care about what he went through, he lost control after the group's final act. The female vampire and her friends had kidnapped Axel's family and drained their blood.

Having not drunk blood for a long time, Axel couldn't control himself when the group gave him his family's blood, and he drank it all uncontrollably.

When he later learned that the blood he drank was his family's, he was stunned. He stood motionless for a few minutes, and when he began to laugh, everyone thought he had gone mad.

Even the female vampire laughed. She had no emotional feelings for Axel; she had only found him attractive and wanted to make him her plaything. She had turned him into a vampire to prevent the other vampires in her group from killing him. The female vampire didn't even feel sorry for Axel upon learning he drank his family's blood.

After laughing, Axel lowered his head. Clenching his fists, he punched the first vampire he saw. The vampires grew serious when they saw Axel punch. His punch had an unexpected effect; the vampire he hit was flattened against the ground, unable to move. After neutralizing one, there were still five more vampires. Realizing Axel's strength, the vampires took him seriously.

Seeing the power in Axel's punch, the vampires understood he had a special ability. The female vampire was surprised by her plaything's action.

After Axel's attack, the angered group members attacked him together. When one vampire punched Axel, he didn't move. The vampire's hand broke. Since Axel was new to using his power, he couldn't fully control it; if he could, the vampire's condition wouldn't have been limited to just a broken hand.

The other vampires were terrified by what they saw. They had seen powerful vampires with abilities before, but nothing as frightening as this. They couldn't harm him physically. The only vampire among them with a useful ability was the female vampire. The other vampires expected her to defeat Axel. Meanwhile, Axel beheaded two vampires within seconds.

Although the female vampire was strong, she couldn't do what Axel had done, but she was confident she could stop him. She raised her hand and aimed at Axel. The fire from her hand moved towards Axel. However, contrary to expectations, the fire bounced back at the female vampire upon hitting Axel. The female vampire was too late to protect herself from the flames. She started screaming in the middle of the flames. Axel was pleased with her suffering; it made him feel relieved.

While the female vampire was in pain, the remaining two vampires tried to attack Axel from behind. Instead of hitting him, they tried to hold his arms to immobilize him. Axel reflected the kinetic energy back on the two vampires holding his arms. Their bodies were riddled with fractures. Of the six vampires, five were incapacitated. After giving each a painful death, Axel burned them. He stayed by their side every second they burned. He enjoyed killing them. Avenging his family made Axel feel genuinely good.

Even though one vampire escaped, the remaining five were dead. Axel vowed to give that one vampire a painful death if he ever found them.

As Axel continued driving the RV, night had fully fallen. The roads were now completely desolate. Felix brought Axel a blood bag from the cooler in the RV, as they hadn't fed in a while due to being on the road for so long. Axel drank the blood bag like it was fruit juice, watching the surroundings as he did. There were no other vehicles on the road now that it was dark.

Axel handed over the driver's seat to Maxwell and moved to the passenger seat, continuing to watch the road. They were traveling through a forested area. They weren't in a hurry, so they were taking their time to enjoy the journey. As Axel looked into the forest, he locked eyes with a creature.
