Chapter : 28 Spar battle

Clashes of swords can be heard as Dylan was pushing Vali back, who was struggling to block Dylan's attacks.

With one powerful sword swing, Darian threw Vali off balance as he fell back on his bum, but immediately got up and took a stance.

"Shit, am I losing to a small kid?" Vali thought to himself, gritting his teeth. He wanted to become strong as soon as possible to get revenge, but here he is losing to a small kid. These kinds of thoughts were running inside Vali's head.

"Are you not going to use your sacred gear?" Dylan asked. He wanted to see what kind of power a sacred gear holds. Even though Azazel told him a little bit about sacred gear, he has never experienced the power of a sacred gear, a curiosity that he wants to fulfill.

"You want me to use my sacred gear? I am not using it. I want to defeat you this way," Vali replied, thinking Dylan was looking down on him, which actually wasn't the case.

"Come on, show your full power, and then I will also show you mine," Dylan said.

As the thought crossed Vali's mind, "No way is he also not using his full strength and hiding something," Vali, now curious about what more Dylan was hiding, backed off and jumped into the air, activating his Divine Dividing. Bluish pairs of dragonic wings popped out from his back as he hovered in the sky.

Dylan's mouth slightly opened, watching in awe as the wings were really beautiful from his perspective.

"This is Divine Dividing, which houses the spirit of one of the Heavenly Dragons known as the Vanishing Dragon, one of the Thirteen Longinus. Its power is to halve its opponent's power every ten seconds and sustain me with that power instead," Vali explained.

"Cutting power in half," Dylan muttered, his curiosity increasing as he took stance; two of his Fly Cutters appeared beside him, floating.

"Are you sure, Dylan, you want to reveal your powers here?" Liridian appeared beside him.

"Well, it's not like it can be hidden for long. Plus, Azazel isn't here, and there are no cameras, so he will probably not know, and Vali doesn't look like the type to tell others," Dylan said as he scanned the room to see if someone is around or not and if there are any cameras or not.

"What are those small blades floating beside him? Is it his Sacred Gear?" Vali muttered, narrowed his eyes looking at the two small blade-like things floating.

"Vali, I hope you're ready," Dylan said, assuming a stance with his sword held before him. Vali mirrored his readiness, bracing for whatever was about to unfold.

"Thunder Blade, first form," Dylan muttered, sliding his left leg back and gripping his sword with his right hand, as if drawing it from a sheath.

Boom! crackle!..

Lightning sparks erupted from Dylan's legs as he swiftly closed the distance to Vali like a lightning dash, who hovered in the air.

Dylan surrounded by lightning sparks.

Vali, sensing the imminent danger, moved to block with his sword, but a flicker of doubt crossed his mind. Instead, he conjured a Magic Barrier circle to intercept Dylan's attack.

The force behind Dylan's strike proved formidable, causing cracks to spiderweb across the magical barrier and sending Vali hurtling backward until he managed to regain control.

It all transpired in mere moments, too fast for an ordinary observer to comprehend.

"He really blocked it. That means he's definitely powerful than that Devil terrorists," Dylan thought to himself, momentarily surprised by Vali's prowess as he blocked the attack. Initially, Dylan had intended to redirect his strike to avoid harming Vali, but Vali's effective block caught him off guard."

As Dylan landed back on the ground swiftly and Vali still in the air. Both were in an intense gaze at each other, waiting to see who would make the first move. Vali flew towards him with his sword, and Dylan just stood there, controlling his Fly Cutter, which blocked Vali's sword.

Seeing the small blade blocking his attack, Vali was surprised but immediately flicked it away as he dodged and moved towards Dylan. He met the attacks of Dylan's two Fly Cutters from every side as they moved randomly, targeting Vali. Vali's flying skills allowed him to dodge and block, but he finally closed in Dylan who was ready to attack with his sword.

As Vali approached Dylan, Dylan noticed a smile spreading across his face. Vali swiftly moved closer, then, with a sudden leap, he soared above Dylan, lightly touching his shoulder as he passed, before gracefully halting in mid-air.

As Dylan turned around in confusion, he immediately guided both of his Fly Cutters towards Vali, but suddenly...

"DIVIDE... DIVIDE... DIVIDE... DIVIDE.... DIVIDE.."

Words echoed in the chamber as Dylan's flying Cutter fell to the ground.

"What happened?" Dylan muttered bewildered, suddenly losing control over his Fly Cutter, which crashed to the ground.

Liridian's voice chimed in, "It seems his half-power cutting was true, and it seems like there is a condition to activating his power—to touch his opponent. Since he used power, your spiritual power got wavered. The spiritual power passing through your Fly Cutter got cut off in half, weakening your connection with it," he explained.

" So he is like a nemesis to me. If he touches me even once," Dylan muttered, but suddenly his focus turned towards someone coming towards them, sensing them through his Spiritual sensing.

"Vali, let's do this later," Dylan said, calling back his Fly Cutter and hiding his sword along with it.

Vali was confused by the sudden halt in the fight, but soon his attention turned to see Azazel and Baraqiel coming back. He looked back at Dylan, understanding his intentions, and landed back on the ground.

"Yoo, what are you kids doing?" Azazel announced himself as he entered the chamber along with Baraqiel.

"Nothing," Dylan replied.

"Well, seems like you're getting bored here, so how about going back, since I also need to go somewhere to do some work," Azazel said.

As Dylan and Vali stood in front of him ready to leave without any word, Azazel looked at them. "Were they really bored?" Azazel questioned himself as they immediately agreed to leave. He thought they would be like, "Oh please Azazel, let me stay here some more time, it's fun here, please, please."

"Hey, why are you dazing off?" Dylan called out.

As Azazel came back to reality, he activated the magic circle that teleported them to their house.

As Azazel hung low, "Baraqiel, let's make this place more cooler,"he said as he walked like a lost soul.

"What happened to him now?" Baraqiel questioned himself, puzzled by Azazel's behavior.

As Dylan and Vali arrived home, the landline rang, startling them both.

Dylan picked up the phone. "Dylan, I'm not in the house. I'll be back in an hour, and don't go anywhere out of the house" Emma's voice came through the receiver, As Azazel's told her about the children's being sent back home.

Dylan hung up the phone and sank into the sofa, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Hey, can I ask you something?" Vali's voice broke the silence.

Dylan turned to him. "Sure, what is it?" he replied.

"Is Azazel really your father?" Vali's question caught Dylan off guard.

Dylan raised an eyebrow, surprised by the unexpected inquiry. "Why do you ask?" he inquired.

"Well, Azazel told me his love story, how he met Emma and everything, and then got you. But I don't believe it," Vali explained, scanning Dylan from head to toe, noticing the absence of any obvious physical similarities between them.

Dylan couldn't help but smirk at Vali's skepticism. "Wow, I thought I was the only one who thought Azazel's story was a load of Bullshit. Well actually nobody could believe his story if they heard it, Even when we went to enroll in elementary school, the teachers questioned whether I was really their son. Even the neighbors suspected till now they had adopted me," Dylan thought to himself realizing that he wasn't alone in his doubts about his origins.

"Well, let's talk about that later on. I'm feeling hungry, do you want to eat something?" Dylan asked, skillfully dodging the question.

Vali considered for a moment before responding, "There's a place I want to go to eat, but can we go?"

"Emma said she will take an hour to come back. If that place isn't far away, we can go," Dylan replied.

"It's not far, maybe around 30 minutes if we walk, and 10 minutes if we fly. Since I've never been there, I can't use magic circle," Vali explained.

"Alright then, let me first change, and then we can go," Dylan said as he got down from the sofa and hurried upstairs to his room.

Time skip

Vali soared through the sky, harnessing the power of his sacred gear, while Dylan gracefully glided on his hoverboard, clad in loose black attire and sporting stylish shades.
