A Thousand Worlds

A not so average life ends, and a second one begins. A chance to redeem? Nahhhhhh, a chance to live out dreams would be a more apt description! But as with all, a simple man living out his dreams isn't quite the best of the best, nor the most of entertaining. A chat group (a certainly peculiar one) has been thrown into the mix as well. ==== Find extra chapters at: p@treon.com/stoned_face

Tokyo, Japan,

Yotsuya Residence,

Samuel POV,

Samuel's gaze was fixed above them, a hand held out in front of Miko out of pure instinct... With Miko's clear display of fear and Echidna's sudden mention of spiritual existences, he'd deduced that it was probably something like a ghost but.... The sheer terrifying and ugly appearance of the creature was something he didn't expect.

It was rather nauseating.

'Ignore it and it ignores you....though, it will attack if you show clear signs of seeing it.'

Mei was somewhat confused by her son ignoring the smack of hers but also noticed something, "They're gone." She mumbled out, the headaches she'd been experiencing when she looked at Samuel and the grey world were completely gone! In a jovial mood, she hugged her son tightly, she could see him in full colour and was now confused about his pale complexion.

Miko however, was surprised.. and at the same time, hopeful, could..... could he see that thing too? She'd long believed that she was the only one who could.

"....." Touko looked at the people huddled near the door in slight confusion which soon turned to a sense of familiarity and then a sudden realisation hit her, "Samuel.... You're Samuel?" Her eyes widened in surprise and slight happiness, of course they did, he was her nephew! Always a respectful and understanding boy too... Well, she was a bit conflicted about how to greet him after.... 'that' had happened.

"Yeah, morning aunt." Samuel bowed politely, choosing to ignore the creature in order for it to not attack them needlessly. A slightly awkward atmosphere was slowly formed and the ghost hanging from the ceiling didn't help out at all.

"S...So how's it going?" Touko cleared her throat, trying to reduce the awkwardness in the air.

"I would say it's going well." Samuel nodded thoughtfully, he needed to try his best to come off as nonchalant.

"Haha! Look at you two acting like strangers!" Mei laughed and dragged Touko into the living room, urging the two teens to follow behind with her hands. She at least understood that Samuel's relationships would be somewhat strained after the ordeal and as a mother, did her best to help him out in that regard.

The creature hanging from the ceiling tilted it's head slightly before falling to the floor and then following after them slowly, as if it was intrigued by the new arrivals.

"...This is impossible."

The awe in Samuel's voice was barely hidden, how could he?!

"Nii-san...you just lost at a game... Don't be a drama queen." A young boy sitting near Samuel laughed at his misery before trying to console him.

"Kyosuke, don't you know these kinds of things are important to men?" Samuel asked with a sigh, he lost in a videogame to a kid of all things!

"Shouldn't men be good at what's important to them?" Kyosuke slightly smiled, waving around the console as a non-existent arrow pierced through Samuel's heart.

'Or you could just not lose on purpose.' Echidna commented, resting her head in her hand, why act shocked after losing on purpose? It didn't make sense.

"Point taken." Samuel nodded thoughtfully, ruffling the younger boy's hair with a small smile.

Earlier, with Mei there, the awkwardness of the situation went completely out of the window and they were back to talking like the close relatives they were before the unfortunate accident.

Yes, the whole incident could have been covered up as an accident.. which Samuel's father had initially tried if only, Samuel didn't admit to being guilty of the crime regardless.

Thankfully, the admission of guilt was a secret that never left the courtroom.

"Stop...that." Kyosuke pushed away his hand slightly annoyed, why was he treating him like a kid?

Miko smiled at the interaction of the two, sitting to their side while also keeping an eye at the one ghost in the room. In truth, there were two at her house but, the second had remained out of sight till now.

"Kyosuke, you wanna see something cool?" Samuel asked with a small smile, he needed this kid gone for a bit and this was the easiest way to do it.

"Umm...sure." Kyosuke nodded at his cousin, one he hadn't ever met before... A bit of suspicion would be par for the course but Kyosuke was a child, the fact that Samuel was a relative combined with his amiable personality and way of talking quickly made the younger boy have a good impression of the silver haired teenager.

"Peer outside that window near the front, something really cool, you'll see." Samuel rubbed his chin nodding wisely, bikes were always cool, even those with no clear interest in such things. It would be enough of a distraction.

"Huh...sure.." While somewhat suspicious, Kyosuke nodded and walked to the window with curious eyes.

During this time, Samuel folded his legs and relaxed back into the sofa he'd been sitting on, "Now then, Miko, let's go for a walk to the convenience store." His demeanour was somewhat serious, discussing this was somewhat important to him, he needed to know just how much her sight let her see... and if it was a threat to himself.

"...Why?" Miko asked in a confused voice, not that she minded but that it just came out of nowhere.

"Ug- Your invited guest over there." Samuel motioned towards the creature looming behind him with his eyes, it was obvious that she could see it too with the way she would sneak glances from time to time.

Miko yelped at his nonchalance before freezing up,

"What's wrong, sis?" Kyosuke, who had just returned, asked in slight confusion.

"N-Nothing.." Her voice cracked as she reassured her younger brother that nothing was wrong...but, something was wrong, very wrong. S-Samuel could see those things?! How was he so nonchalant about it then? It wasn't an understatement to call them the most terrifying things one could ever see, how was he able to just ignore them?!

"Y-You can-.."

Samuel nodded, cutting her off completely, maybe she was a little too surprised but if she completed that question. That 'thing' would know they saw it too and it would attack instantly.

'....' Echidna observed in silence, it was slightly risky in her opinion but, to see how Samuel dealt with stuff was the greatest reason she was obs-*ehem* intrigued by him.

Samuel simply stood up, "Mom, I'll be back in a bit." He slightly waved his hand, it was better to take this outside than discuss here... in the presence of the thing they were discussing.

"Kyosuke, I'll bring you some ice cream on the way back." Miko followed behind, pleading to her brother with a silent gesture, she needed to go along.. definitely.

"Sure." Kyosuke nodded, slightly confused, did she fall for their cousin's looks or something?

"Be safe alright?" Mei waved him goodbye and Touko only smiled at the two teenagers leaving the living room. Youthfulness was good indeed.

"How's his education going to be solved?" Touko inquired with a hand on her cheek, true education was continued in juvenile prison but, it wasn't enough for those high end schools and the likes.

"Oh that? Would you believe it? He already got graduation papers after giving some tests!" Mei excitedly told her sister all about how her son was so intelligent that he had passed a test not a week after getting discharged.

"Oh? Where?" Touko was slightly taken aback, awed by how he had managed something like that. She didn't quite expect someone so jovial and easygoing to be good at studies.

"Umm...Umm.."

At that moment, just out of pure coincidence, Kyosuke turned on the T.V.

"The criminal activity is reaching new heights with the removal of the Yakuza by the Hayes. In a bold show of barbarism and rebellion, the prestigious Aichi Academy which doubled back as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre was bombed last night. It remains unknown as to who was the perpetrator of this incident but sources suggest that it was one of the gangs operating in the area."

The announcer repeated seriously, a series of images of the destroyed school building flashing behind her, "Thankfully, no one was injured in this attack."

It made sense, perhaps the gangs were trying to make a point by attacking a rehabilitation centre, the point was certainly made too.. They would not be overtaken or 'corrected'.

None were aware of the true perpetrators or rather 'perpetrator' of the incident.

"That's the one!"

"....." Touko was speechless, he gave a test there and it got bombed afterwards.... Why did weird incidents follow their families everywhere.., "Aren't you annoyed or afraid or something?" Her sister was really something else..

"I mean, it's not like it happened the same day. He was long free anyway." Mei slightly shrugged, reacting with something like, what if he was there? Would just be stupid, it was better to be happy that he was not, in fact, there.
