A Thousand Worlds

A not so average life ends, and a second one begins. A chance to redeem? Nahhhhhh, a chance to live out dreams would be a more apt description! But as with all, a simple man living out his dreams isn't quite the best of the best, nor the most of entertaining. A chat group (a certainly peculiar one) has been thrown into the mix as well. ==== Find extra chapters at: p@treon.com/stoned_face

Do As You Will

Kingdom of Lugnica,

Roswaal's Mansion,

Samuel POV,

Samuel took a deep breath draining out all unnecessary thoughts as the door to the guest room opened and a rather tall man with a slim, 'delicate' stature walked in. He had long indigo hair that reached to the lower of half of his back, a few bangs were neatly tucked behind his ear. What stood out most though was the strange makeup, similar to a clown's he had on his face and the outfit he wore which was, unironically, also a clown's.

Samuel, instantly recognising the man stood up, slightly bowing his head as was common curtsy, "Lord Mathers." He said respectfully, as weird as he dressed, the man was still a noble. "My, you recognise me?" "Roswaal L. Mathers" asked with a small smile, one of the most well known and powerful people. The Court Mage of the Dragon Kingdom of Lugnica holding the rank of Margrave.

"Ahaha, how wouldn't I?" Samuel scratched the back of his head, it would be strange if someone didn't recognise the man..... unless they lived under a rock that is. "Indeed." Roswaal nodded with a knowing smile as he walked over and sat right across Samuel and only after he sat did Samuel once more take his seat.

"Now then, what brings you to my humble abooode~?" Roswaal asked tilting his head the smile ever present on his face, admittedly there was nothing special about the man sitting in front of him at the moment.

"Directions?" Samuel said somewhat awkwardly, for some reason he felt as if he was a child trying to hide something from an elderly that already knew what he had done.

"I had heard you were interested in leeeearning magic~" Roswaal smiled at Samuel who sweatdropped. To be fairly honest, he wasn't interested in that at all, not one bit. Augmentation types of magic yes but beyond that, no. He would use martial arts even if it got him killed.... maybe he should have used another story with Rem. "I 'was'." Samuel smiled back, he had no choice but to wing it now.

"Well then, I poooossess the perfect teacher for you~, one of the servants will lead you toooo them." Saying that Roswaal stood up and left quickly, not giving Samuel the chance to talk back or protest... "What just.....?" Samuel looked at the closed door in confusion and surprise, how come? What?

This threw him for a loop, he had at least expected a conversation but no, all he had gotten was an opportunity to learn something he didn't wish to? Sighing once, he stood up to follow after Roswaal. It was kind of obvious what happened, the Gospel Roswaal possessed had been rewritten this time with him as the factor and as a result, the man had done exactly what it had asked him to do.

"Just what is she up to?" Samuel muttered out opening the door, this was why this world was a problem. People with foresight and a person that could freely change the past, despite the difficulty of the quests, he wished to complete them as quickly as possible and leave, canon could go fuck itself for all he cared.

"Where are you going?" A sharp voice asked Samuel, making him look around in slight surprise, "The restrooms?" He slightly smiled at the pink haired girl standing beside the door he had exited. "Roswaal-sama has tasked me with guiding you somewhere. Please follow me." It was obvious that she didn't really care about what he wanted but rather only wanted to fulfil the task she had been granted.

".....Alright." Samuel sighed, his shoulders slightly slumping down, 'Ram' even if weakened could rip him apart with her magic and she would definitely do so too... He didn't quite like having no choice though.

??? POV,

In an absolutely massive library with two floors filled to the brim with bookshelves, a small girl stood near a shelf flipping through the pages of a large book, a calm expression on her face. That is, until she felt a disturbance.

Her own Book of Wisdom or Gospel, one of the two books of foresight granted to her by her mother and creator, the Witch of Greed, Echidna which had stopped showing her anything further after she secluded herself in the Forbidden Library, visibly vibrated making her eyes widen in shock and disbelief.

Beatrice, the Great Spirit of the Forbidden Library which housed the knowledge of Echidna, moved, no, she ran forward almost stumbling and falling on her face and grabbed the book clutching it tightly.

Her body trembling, she somewhat fearfully opened the book hoping that finally, her purpose had been reinstated, that 'That Person' had finally arrived to grant her new duties. Beatrice slowly read through the newly formed letters, her mouth trembling as she did... That person had arrived?

Throwing the book aside, Beatrice ran out of the library, a desperate look slowly formed on her face. After centuries, centuries spent in seclusion, her mother's words had finally come true..... A fearful expression on her face, fear of missing the chance, she forgot about magic, running on her own two feet as she searched for 'that person'.

One thing she didn't or rather couldn't notice was that the books inside the library slowly went blank, their pages holding no words. A mechanism set by Echidna for when Beatrice finally let go of her duty, when she found an actual purpose.

Roswaal rubbed his chin in thought as he walked down the hallway, he didn't quite understand what the appearance of this stranger implied but surely it was some great purpose, the Gospel had said so after all. At the same time, it also meant that he had to change some plans to suit this, the other 'guest' at his mansion had to be safeguarded from any and all dangers at any and all costs which was, again, something the book had said.

For now though, as per the book's words he had sent the guest towards the Sanctuary, Rem would lead him there herself. Putting a warm welcoming smile on his face, Roswaal made his way towards the resident of the mansion which had a crush on the Lady he backed, Emilia.

Kingdom of Lugnica,

Roswaal's Mansion,

Near the mansion gates, Samuel could be seen scratching the back of his head in slight confusion, "Eh....what the?" He looked at the horse incredulously, firstly he had been led here and afterwards Ram had gotten atop a horse beckoning him to follow.

"Take it up with Roswaal-sama." She said looking down at him but Samuel sighed and climbed onto the horse she had brought out for him.

Before they set off though,

Beatrice ran out of the mansion, looking for whoever had arrived and soon her gaze fell on a silver haired teen on a horse, he looked fairly young in sharp contrast to those that had tried to take her with them before and the Sun shining on him made him look more attractive than need be.

As she neared him, her running became walking and in moments, it seemed as if the girl was afraid of taking a step further. Her feelings at the moment were complicated, true she had waited for this hundreds of years but.....,. she couldn't describe what she was feeling at the moment in words.

Samuel noticed her and so did Ram, both of them staring at Beatrice in slight confusion before Samuel finally understood what he had to do.

He was a real shit head for this but, Beatrice was a Great Spirit, her origins aside, one of his missions was forming a contract with one and she.... had literally been waiting for someone to just ask her to go with them, they would have her eternal loyalty as a result.

Samuel gave her a close eyed smile, "Wanna come along?" He asked politely, his words holding no real ulterior motives or hidden meanings.

The knowledge of the library? Bah! That was all magic related, he wasn't even interested in obtaining it. The mission included, the only real meaning behind his words was a request for her company.

All he wanted was for her to come along and Beatrice, being a spirit, instantly noticed it. It was exactly what her mother had foretold and promised. The tears that had formed in her eyes flowed freely as she smiled widely at him, "Yes."

Why do you think the books are indirectly or maybe directly, trying to force Samuel to the Sanctuary?
