A Thousand Worlds

A not so average life ends, and a second one begins. A chance to redeem? Nahhhhhh, a chance to live out dreams would be a more apt description! But as with all, a simple man living out his dreams isn't quite the best of the best, nor the most of entertaining. A chat group (a certainly peculiar one) has been thrown into the mix as well. ==== Find extra chapters at: p@treon.com/stoned_face

Ah.....Well....

Kingdom of Lugnica,

Kremaldy Forest,

Samuel POV,

In a lush green forest, two people could be seen looking at each other, one male and the other female. Samuel smiled at the blue haired girl in a maid dress, having realised what this new place was for the most part. True he was no otaku, but he did have a fair bit of interest in the fantasy genre, this just happened to be among the ones he had read to pass the time. As such, he prayed inwardly that he was wrong about it.

"What is your business here?" The girl asked again, not having retracted her weapon yet, why would she? She was patrolling the area around the mansion as was her duty and suddenly felt a presence pop out of nowhere, naturally she was wary of the suspicious stranger... she admitted though, among the humans he might be one of, if not the most, attractive people she had seen in her life.

Samuel thought for a bit before sighing, there was no way the traveller story would work. A bit of thinking later, ignoring the girl who was getting more and more wary as time passed. "Hmmm, I won't bore you with details..." Samuel said rubbing his chin as he looked up in thought, yeah he wasn't good at this at all.

The girl narrowed her eyes further...... to be fairly honest, he had absolutely no stench on him at all so he definitely wasn't from the Witch's Cult, his presence too was of a human's, too human in fact, it was apparent that he wasn't using any form of magic either. Though... he was fishy.....

"So uhm, long story short, magic." Samuel smiled as if what he said was the obvious thing in the world and would clear him of any and all doubt.

".....Magic? Magic landed you in a forest filled with Mabeasts...?" She tilted her head in slight confusion, what kind of magic did he even use to achieve that?

Samuel put a hand on his chest, "Yes I wish my teacher could hear those words! The old man just threw me out here once he saw I had no aptitude..." He sighed at the end, making a betrayed expression which looked almost too natural, as for shame? What use was that in this kind of world? His life was way more dear to him thank you very much.

"You had quite the careless teacher didn't you?" She asked in an empty tone,.... things like this happened more than most would like. "Indeed, Indeed." Samuel nodded, lying straight through his teeth, having long lost the ability to feel shame.

"So if you could, please show me to the nearest place where I could..... you know." Samuel said flashing the trademark relaxed smile, despite the danger this place held, it wasn't enough to make him lose his bearings.

"I will....take you to my master." The girl relented, this kind of case was something she hadn't encountered before and nor were there any instructions for such an encounter, taking him to her master was the logical thing to do.... It wasn't like he was dangerous, with no magic, there was no way a human could pose a serious threat to an Oni.

"I would be in your debt."

The girl simply nodded in affirmation before turning to walk, expecting the strange person to follow her. One thing she forgot to question though, was that he seemed to be wearing only a simple t-shirt and jeans, but perhaps that was because they already had one similar person freeloading where she was employed.

"Samuel Hayes." Samuel named himself with a close eyed smile, exchanging names was common courtesy and the first step to building a healthy relationship.

"Rem." 'Rem' answered with her own making Samuel click his tongue in displeasure, he wasn't wrong after all. Rem ignored his actions and continued leading him through the forest, at a normal pace.

As they walked, Samuel looked around in curiosity, Earth was beautiful yes, but this place seemed to be on an entirely different level when it came to natural beauty. Lush green plants, grass nearly as tall as his knees and tall trees which formed a sort of canopy, letting little to no sunlight through.

About fifteen minutes later, the end of the treeline was in sight making Samuel sigh in relief, he didn't dare to pull out his phone to check the mission that he had been given lest he make Rem wary of him or at worst, straight up attack him.

He appeared to be in Re Zero though, this was pretty much confirmed when they exited the forest and a majestic yet familiar mansion came into view. It was tall, tall enough that it's majesty could be seen even with a good part of it hidden by the walls that most likely completely surrounded it.

Yes, he recognised it completely. A series which seemed to be dead set on putting it's protagonist through hell, a power which changed the future without one even noticing, demonic beasts of epic proportions that seemed to kill and maul out of instinct, a cult obsessed with someone dead, twisted witches that were oddly enticing due to their unique natures and much much more.

Well that or there was another world with a blue haired chain mace wielding maid that served a master in a mansion surrounded by trees.

Samuel sighed in slight defeat, hopefully whatever mission he had been assigned wouldn't see him eaten alive seeing as that was a definite possibility. Rem observed Samuel's odd behaviour out of the corner of eye, yeah he was definitely suspicious but strangely

....... She wanted to pet him?

"We've arrived." She announced coughing slightly, well he'd be gone soon enough so her strange thoughts didn't really bother her much.

Samuel whistled in appreciation though that was it, there was no exaggerated reaction like the one Rem saw last time. Why? Well..... Samuel had seen way way more luxurious places as a child, especially when visiting their family home.... Naturally, while appreciative of it, he wasn't shocked or anything.

Soon enough, Samuel had been led through the mansion and directly to one of the guest rooms. Seeing him appreciate the tidiness of the place after mentioning that he didn't really see any servants certainly made the young oni have a better impression of the young man. Everyone likes to be praised for their work after all.

Rem opened the furnished wooden door, ushering Samuel in, "Roswaal sama should be with you soon." She said before bowing and closing the door behind her, for now, Samuel was a guest here and as such, deserved the treatment a guest should be given. Doing otherwise would be a stain on the reputation and image of the mansion's lord..... Well, Rem was pretty sure the man himself wouldn't really care about that..... he was strange like that.

The room itself had three green sofas, a fireplace which had a painting hanging above it and the walls had rectangular windows with green curtains. Samuel took a seat on one of the sofas, placing his head on the table directly in front of it, "..."

Nothing was really coming to mind, so far it had worked out better than he expected seeing as he pretty much winged it. Now though, he had to talk to the sly Roswaal and going in without thinking much of it would be sheer stupidity.

Samuel rubbed his chin in thought, his head still on the table. Technically...... he was someone outside the workings of fate so long as this world was concerned, he was an anomaly in the normal course of this world. He wasn't supposed to be here ever, period.

Now this might be a little too daring of him but, that book on Roswaal's person had been built by a resident of this world, namely the Witch of Greed Echidna, accounting for the future that was to come and told him of it. Roswaal would definitely consult it...... either, Samuel wouldn't be on that book (Considering he wasn't supposed to exist here) or the book would have changed to suit his presence in which case it didn't really matter what he did regarding Roswaal. The clown would already know either way........ know how the conversation would go at least.

Coughing to himself, Samuel sat up straight running a hand over his face before shifting to a more relaxed position, putting the smile from before on once more he nodded, "All set."

Now one might wonder, why not check what mission he'd been issued? Well how would he explain the completely otherworldly item and what it showed if someone walked in on him going through it?

...

.....

...

....

.....

Samuel pulled out the phone quickly, going through whatever was written on it before putting it back in his pockets. He looked around to check if someone saw him and, noticing that it was safe, he sighed in relief before facepalming........ He was done with his bullshit.
