A stranger's step by step guide to immortality

A great person once said that in the world of humans, it is impossible to achieve eternal life...and I took that personally... . . This is not a fantasy book. It's a scientific book, since science is the closest thing to magic we have in our universe. . . It is a simple depiction of the research made by a person striving for perpetual improvement. Themes such as Oncology, Epigenetics, Robotics and Philosophy will be the main ingredients. . Now, whether such a lofty goal is even possible in the first place...who cares? After all...one must imagine Sisyphus happy...

Step 2.0 - Problem Solving

Problem solving is the act of defining a problem; determining the cause of the problem; identifying, prioritizing, and selecting alternatives for a solution; and implementing a solution.

The implementation part can wait for now, but devising some sort of plan is mandatory. The way I think about ,,problem solving,, is mostly through a divide and conquer perspective. Just break the mountain in one million little peebles and then you can move it easily (if you don't die of old age before you finish)

To give a more real example, If one wants to learn some kind of textbook, them might learn everything on one page...and then another...and then another and so on and so forth. After a few hundred repetitions, the problem (the textbook) will be considered solved (learned) .

The point is that everything, no matter how complicated can be reduced to simple, comprehensible steps.

Want to become a good athlete? Devise a workout program. Change your diet. Train more, sleep more, work on your mindset.

Want to become a programmer? Watch some tutorials, start making some simple programs, learn from your mistakes, make more complex programs.

Want to quit an addictive behavior? Understand it's causes, replace it with something less bad. Repeat, until it disappears.

Of course, each of the steps above can be broken down in many small pieces themselves, but I can only allow myself a short time for this stuff before having to go back to the Grind.

That's what it's called, by the way. Following the small steps you know will bring you a tiny bit closer to your goal, even when you would rather do something more fun. (The Motivation volume is very small right now but it will grow in the future so you can go and read some stuff from there.)

Anyway, it's also important to understand the difference between things you can influence and those you can not. Like making a girl you have a crush like you back. You can improve the way you look, you can research her likes and dislikes, you can practice the art of conversation and whatever else you can think of, but if she is already in a relationship then tough luck buddy.

Like natural disasters can't be predicted, nor can the feelings of our fellow humans be completely understood. (Even so, there are ways to plan for uncertainty but that's for later.)

Fortunately for me, the pursuit of immortality seems to quite a straightforward road, even if it's riddled with holes. Most scientists agree that it's only a matter of time until all the tiny little steps are completed and the goal is reached.

As far as I can see, the main obstacle preventing us from dying only when ourselves decide to is the faulty design of our cells.

Cells are literally tiny Lego blocks that make up our bodies, and they will be discussed in detail in future chapters, but what matters right now is that they die sooner or later.

The sooner they die, the sooner you die as well.

So you only have a few options.

1-prevent them from dying

2-replace them with new cells after they die

3-use robotic parts instead
