A Fated Meeting (V)

I called my sword and took a guard pose. Maybe I should analyze his attack patterns. I know he is quite agile although his strikes should take some time to land because of his long extremities. Unlike that feline that I faced before it's movements are much slower and predictable.

With that in mind I decided to took the offensive and went to him with the idea to cut his left arm. He reacted raising the right towards me. Without thinking I raised my glove and the repulse effect stopped the impact. Alright! Now I just need to-

"Grrrrr!"

In a fortuitous action it turned around and with his tail it hit me hard in the stomach sending me flying for a while to a clear area near the lake. I ran out of air for a few seconds. My legs began to tremble, the wound I had before seemed to open a bit and my blood dyed even more the scenery of red.

I did what I could to leave the pain behind and gathered all the will I had to stand up. The beast once again was in front of me at stayed still.

I rather wait until he makes the first move. He then made a quick turn, a tail strike is coming. This time I evade it by jumping and taking advantage of the impulse I tried a thrust with my sword. Sadly this animal kept spinning and he scratched me strongly with his claws at high speed, the impact lead me to slide on the ground a few meters. I stood again.

I can't keep on like this, I need to do something. His attacks are too powerful and savage to take them directly. For now I'll take as much distance as possible.

He started with many movements of his claws one after another. Each one made me back up trying in vain to search for an opening to counterattack. Luckily I'm able to evade them, nevertheless the time goes on and my body feels heavier and it's harder to react. My sight starts to cloud little by little, probably because the lack of blood.

In that instant the creature ceased his attacks. I was waiting for what he was planning. Then he walked away to a nearby tree.

Is impossible that he had given up. What's happening? He got bored? No! It's just a beast like the others who act on instinct alone, it doesn't posses intellect. It's my chance. I mustn't extend this fight any longer for my own safety.

I got close to where he goes, but before I accomplish my objective and without giving me any time to react the lizard with a strike of it's tail destroyed the log, one of those pieces went flying towards me and buried in my right arm. The suffering was unbearable, so much that I dropped my sword.

Multiple strong feelings invaded me, for the first time I experimented what I saw like a simple memory... fear. I was astonished by that situation. Without knowing what to do I tried desperately to pull the stake of wood from my flesh and after doing it I get a glance at my wound bleeding out making my limb go numb. I don't think I can use it... this is really bad.

He didn't gave me any breaks, it approached running towards me. Barely I was able to raise my glove in an intent of repelling his attack, when out of nowhere with a flash movement closed his head on me and gave me a big headbutt.

"Ahhhhh!"

The impact was so strong that it seemed to broke a part of my skull.

My senses clouded, the pain to my body was so much that it was impossible to keep on standing, at the end I fell on my knees and left myself at the mercy of my enemy.

Looks like a moment of calm had finally arrived. I'm still alive, I don't hear any sounds or feel any hostility, with difficulty I tried to stand up and watch what happen.

In that instant a chill went through my spine after looking and understanding what was going on, the creature was watching me with a penetrating look and what seemed the most sadistic and prideful smile possible.

At last I got it, because of my arrogance and lack of criteria I misjudged what I was against. How I didn't notice? When I saw how he killed that other little animal... it must had been obvious! He only kills for fun. It isn't to protect this place, it just happens that he takes fun in watching other people suffering. He could had killed me long ago, but decided not to do it. Probably to enjoy playing with one more victim.

Is like she said, it really is a demon. Dammit... what mess have I gotten myself into? I mustn't give up, If I do then everything is over...
