"Soul society, a broader term for the underworld. Here the spirits of the dead came to wander for eternity fighting with those who are corrupted and even between themselves. It was lawless zone where being good meant being weak. Being weak meant true death. Power was worshipped here. The weak had no place and were food for the strong.

Strength could change everything. A person who kills one is a murderer, a person who kills thousand is a villain. A person who kills ten thousand is a hero.

History always remembers the strong and the weak are classified as the villains. Remember if you kill all those who are in the know, what you say shall be the truth."

Looking into the eyes of the twelve people seated close to him, all showing the signs of having fought a calamitous battle, genryusai sigekuni yamamoto, now the captain commander of the newly formed gotei 13, said reminiscing.

He remembered the words told to him by his elder brother and teacher. The world had not be the same after his depature. All he hoped was that, nii-sama had attained the peace he was after.

Looking at the woman to his right, at a slender and youthful looking woman with blue eyes and black hair. He had never seen her age in more than the thousand years that were fighting together.

"unohana, will be my current deputy. All you find good seedling spread throughout the soul society and train them. We will need an expendable fighting force to find the quinces and hollows."

After dismissing them he looked out of the window. His thoughts wandering over the years past and his recently concluded battle with yhwach. He regretted being unable to kill him, but was sure that he wouldn't be able to reach anywhere close to his power. If he appeared again, he would die.

After the split of the underworld into soul society and heuco mundo, it had been rather easy to assert control over it. Now the gotei 13 were the defenders of soul society and held dominion over the dead souls of humans.

The soul society consisted of the rukongai and seireitei. Rukongai was for the common people who arrived after the died in the human world. The did not feel hunger and enjoyed long lifespans. The could though, just like the human world, be killed and have children. A soul that dies in soul society is reincarnated on earth as a new human with no past memories.

The human world was the key to the balance which had to be maintained at all cost. Its existence was necessary for the powers of the soul king to be sustained. If not for that these pitiful existences would not enjoy the protection of shinigamis and the attacks from hollows, the beings of chaos.

Out of nowhere, a huge pressure descended on all the beings of the soul society. a deep rumbling voice was heard from the center of the seireitei.... [STOP!].

'THIS.. THE SOUL KING HAD TO AWAKEN FROM HIS SLUMBER TO STOP THIS REIATSU PRESSURE. FROM WHO.. NO WHAT DID IT COME FROM? AND WHY?'
