A Reincarnated Tale : Pokémon

A middle aged white collar worker dies from exhaustion in the modern world and meets ROB. ROB judges the man, only to receive a good karmic value, giving the man a chance to reincarnate. ROB also gives the man the choice to choose a few wishes, but the man declines, not wanting any outside help. Seeing his honesty, ROB decided to let the man choose the world he wanted to go to instead, along with a healthy body, and a soon-to-be partner he didn't ask for. Is there romance? Yes! This is very much a slice of life journey through the Pokemon World. Current standing, MC works for the Aether Foundation, but has a high enough rank to enjoy his own freedom. Also decides to take the Professor route while going out on a journey with his friends. Current region: Kanto. Future regions remain unexplored. Three love interests. No more, no less. This is my second fanfic. *Cover art is not mine. I do not own Pokémon besides my own OC.

Chapter 52: Battling Brock! (II)

I wonder if Brock knows that recalling moves like Baton Pass keep stat boosts used by its prior Pokemon? In fact does such a thing work in this world I'm in? After learning this world is a mash up of mechanics and such, I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually a thing.

Time to rest it out. After Venonat was recalled, I grabbed onto my next Pokeball.

"Come on out Jack.", I said.

"Spearow!", Spearow yelled out, starting to flap its wings. It quickly noticed Geodude and realized it was in the battle. Both of us saw a pale energy envelope Spearow's body only for it to quickly vanish. Yet Brock was still able to notice it.

"I see. I haven't come across many recall moves, but they still work like that. Be careful Geodude, Spearow may be faster than it looks."

"Dude.", Geodude responded. Geodude then put up both of its hands in a guarding position.

"Hey Brock, have you ever felt heat rise up?", I asked Brock with a retort.

"Haha, what from the excitement of battle?", Brock asked back with a smile.

"Well yes. But this time I meant it literally. Let's heat the place up. Jack, use Sunny Day!", I yelled out my next move.

"Spear!", Spearow replied. After it did, fire energy began to emit from Spearow's body. Before long, despite being inside the gym, harsh sunlight started to peer into the whole battle field. The couple of trainers under Brock started to shield their eyes.

Not only that, everyone did indeed feel the temperature rise to an uncomfortable degree.

"Oh?"

"Jack, blast Geodude away. Use Heat Wave."

"Spear!", Spearow yelled out. Using the rays of the indoor sunlight, Spearow started to furiously flap its wings . As it sped up, it began to ignite into flames. Heat Wave got blasted at Geodude who took the fire attack head on. Thanks to the blast of the fire, Geodude got knocked up into the air, blasting backward. Its body struck hard into one if the large rocks nearby, and crushed it into pieces.

"Jack, don't give Geodude any time to rest. Finish it off with Steel Wing."

After the heat around Spearow quickly dispersed.

"Dude...", Geodude struggled. Not too long after, flame marks appeared on Geodude. This reaction caused Geodude to flinch. Heat Wave seemed to have burned Geodude. It felt more of its health sapped away.

As that happened, Spearow took aim at Geodude. Its wings began to glow, only to stiffen up next. Silver energy wrapped around its wings, letting them glow.

"That was a pretty effective Heat Wave. Thanks to the sunlight, Itsuki dealt some good damage, despite Geodude being resistant with its typing. And that burn too, it's not looking good...", Brock uttered to himself.

Brock then issued his next move.

"Geodude, prepare for impact. Stand your ground and use Iron Defense.", Brock said.

I looked at Brock, then looked at Geodude. Geodude regained its hold and entered a defensive stance once more.

"Dude!", Geodude said, only to let silver energy cover its rocky body. In the next moment, light reflected off of it, and Geodude appeared more polished. The silver energy dispersed, gathering into Geodude's body. Iron Defense drastically raises one's defense, so Brock is expecting for Geodude to live through this Steel Wing.

"Go.", I said, letting Spearow take flight. Using its speed Spearow rushed at Geodude. In no time at all, Spearow swerved to Geodude's right, and stuck hard with its wings. A loud clash of metal struck all of our ears.

Geodude hung on at first, and I saw Spearow striking it with its wings. Geodude didn't even move from its spot. However, in the next couple of moments, Geodude started dig into the ground, sliding back ever so slowly.

Unfortunately for Geodude, it got struck by its burn again, and that spelled disaster for it. The moment Geodude took burn damage, it left up, letting Spearow complete its impact. Bang!

A figure quickly left the ground, getting blasted all the way into the wall onto the right side of the gym. Another loud bang struck, creating an indent in the wall, spreading cracks behind Geodude.

Geodude then fell down onto the ground. Once it struck the ground, faint circles appeared in its eyes.

Despite the ongoing sunlight, the female trainer overseeing this match was momentarily stunned by this outcome. It took her a good moment before she spoke out.

"G-Geodude is unable to battle. Spearow wins!", the female trainer said, announcing the result.

Seeing this, Brock smiled. He calmly walked over to Geodude.

"You did well, Geodude. Take a good rest.", Brock said, recalling Geodude. It was now the sunlight began to fade, letting the battle field return to normal. A few areas of destroyed rocks could be seen. Brock then walked back to his spot.

"So you know your stuff, despite using a type normally resistant to rock types. But it is as you say, it isn't all about the typing. You've shown good compatibility with your Pokemon this far too, but this next one won't be as easy."

"Bring it on." I said back in anticipation.

And this time, I actually saw Brock do his signature pose, crossing one arm over another over his chest. Seeing this only got me fired up even more. This meant that Brock himself was getting serious!

Returning his arms back, he now had a Pokeball in his hand.

"Let's go Onix!", Brock yelled out, tossing it into the air.

The moment it did, a huge figure appeared over the battle field, and let out a deep roar as any Onix would.

And if one had to describe Onix's appearance, Onix was a huge ass rock snake. I mean, Brock's Onix was huge! It covered moist of the field with its body alone. Onix was said to be one of the larger Pokemon we currently know.

But that won't effect me from continuing.

Spearow also looked at it without backing down. It was now back into the air.

"You did good as well, Spearow, return.", I said, recalling Spearow.

Well I wasn't originally planning on using more than two since I thought this was only going to be a two on two battle, but that wasn't the case. This time I will use the advantage. I then reached out, grabbing another one from my waist.

"I leave it up to you, Raph.", I said, tossing Squirtle's pokeball. I too want Squirtle to gain experience from this, and since we finished training everyone in Viridian Forest, I could tell Squirtle was close to evolving already. Once they are ready to evolve, I will let them, just like I did with my Beedrill.

"Squirtle!", Squirtle yelled out, only to see said huge ass rock snake towering over him with a glare. Yet Squirtle did not back away, causing me to smile.

Now, only one Pokemon stood remaining before the Boulder Badge!
