Lawfully Married Husband

Regardless of her selfish thoughts, Anna knew that Roy was right.

Since she was still the reasonable one in that story with a terrible ending, she needed to officially end things with Sam to avoid having connections or sentiments tying them together.

Even though it was painful to let things go given how far she had come with her boyfriend, Anna still needed to do that in other to move on and find happiness. She had been through a lot.

"Mr. Kim, this marriage is just to get your father off your back, right? We are not making it public, right?" Anna asked, trying to get a confirmation of the main aim of their union.

Roy turned to face her. "If a situation calls for us to go public with it, then we will. For now, it is a private event. Also, do not call me, 'Mr. Kim' in public. You know my name."

As he was not yet sure if there would be a situation that would warrant them making their marriage topic, Roy could not make any comment on it.

Also, about her way of addressing him, he had to remind her about it to avoid her using it at the wrong time.

Although their marriage was a convenient one, Roy could not afford for his father to find out about it as the certificate will no longer be solid enough to get him off his back.

If there was even the slightest doubt, that man he knew like the back of his finger would do anything within and outside his power to separate them.

Someone who was planning to 'help' him register his marriage in his absence and without his knowledge, his father was that kind of person.

A few minutes later, they arrived at the service bureau.

As the car pulled over in front of the building, Roy opened the hidden compartment in front of him and brought out two face masks.

He passed one to Anna wordlessly before wearing the other one. He was a public figure and Anna was an ex-public figure. And since their marriage should be kept under wraps for now, they were going to do just that.

Before Anna and Roy could finish strapping their face masks on, Zane and Mr. Charles came over to open the car door for them.

"Sir, the arrangement has been settled. They are only waiting for your presence," Mr. Charles informed Roy as he held the car door open for him.

Roy acknowledged the piece of information with a nod before walking ahead. Quickly, Mr. Charles moved to lead the way in.

On the other hand, Zane took over both Roy and Anna's documents while walking beside the latter.

Seeing how fast the men were walking, Anna was forced to hasten her steps. It wasn't her fault that they had long legs while she was blessed with a pair of short ones.

Inside the building, instead of taking the main entrance door that led to the general workstation, they all diverted towards a hallway with the 'OUT OF BOUNDS' placard fixed on the wall.

Not even a staff dared to stop them, especially given the majestic aura that exuded from the tall man in front.

Ten seconds later, they arrived at a door with a name card, 'Director' hanging in front of it. Mr. Charles knocked twice before pushing the door open.

The moment the man in a sky-blue shirt sitting behind the work desk lifted his head, a soft chuckle broke out on his face. He quickly rose to his feet and stepped out from behind his desk.

"President Kim, you are really here as scheduled. Welcome… welcome." Then he stretched out his hand for a handshake as he met Roy halfway.

Roy immediately took his hand and shook it lightly before retracting his hand. "Thank you for delaying your flight in other to do this."

"It's nothing." The director waved it off with a big smile before pointing at the two seats in front of his desk. "Please, sit down and let's get started with the registration."

Before coming over, Roy had made a call straight to the director to ask him for this favour. It's not like there was no other staff in the service bureau that could register his marriage with Anna, it was that confidentiality he was looking for.

Anna looked on with a little surprise contouring her face as she took the seat to Roy's left. It was really a surprise to see how much power Roy Kim, her soon-to-be lawfully registered husband held.

With the teaser she had seen today, she was sure that Roy was the one to take her to the corridors of power. Any connection or contact she wanted was in the palm of his hands. She only needed to ask and she would have them.

Also, didn't he say that she could use his name to get doors to open for her? Anna reaffirmed at this juncture that she was not going to let this rare opportunity slip through her fingers.

Never!

Her cheating boyfriend and that 'best friend' of hers who had the guts to betray her can all bask in hell forever.

While Roy was making introductions, the person the director of the service bureau called over to register their marriage in the system, arrived, and it was then that they took off their nose masks.

"Director, this is Anna Carter Lee. She was a national sportswoman who played lawn tennis and represented our country at the international level..."

Although Roy didn't need to make that introduction since the director did not need to know who his partner was before the marriage registration process could begin, he only wanted to prove a point that would come in handy soon.

"Really?" The director directed a curious eyebrow at Anna who was surprised with Roy's action.

She had no idea what he was doing, but feeling the gaze on her, she knew she had to redirect her focus elsewhere.

"Yes, Sir." Anna offered a smile to the director and then began to reintroduce herself. She also talked about the accident that automatically forced her into retirement.

The director was pleased that she had recovered her sight. He even went on to ask about her career plans and when Anna affirmed that she was planning on returning to the national lawn tennis team, he encouraged her with a smile.

"Good! I will start paying attention to our national lawn tennis team from now on."

"Thank you, director." Anna bowed slightly. Soon, her marriage registration with Roy started.

Thankfully, the director did not ask about her dating life with Roy and how long they have known each other.

Even though she and Roy had agreed that the answer to that question would be, 'Not for long' which was a vague response, she didn't think she would be comfortable lying straight to the face of especially, the important figures which included her new father-in-law.
