Chapter 24
“It’s a really old house a couple of miles out of town that’s supposed to be haunted,” Rory replied. “When I was in middle school we used to dare each other to explore it, especially around Halloween.”
“Did you?”
Rory nodded. “With a couple of friends. It was sort of creepy but we didn’t run into any ghosts.”
“Because ghosts don’t exist,” Molly said disparagingly.
Deke cocked an eyebrow. “Neither do we, at least according to the humans.”
“Yeah, well…”
“It’s worth checking out, when we get there,” Conall said.
“How?” Rory asked.
“How are we traveling? Using Deke’s car. We don’t want to fly because for all we know Ulric’s got someone watching the airport, now that he knows you’re here.”
“And the one where we used to live, I bet,” Rory said.
“Probably.” Conall checked the time. “We should pack up what we’re taking and get moving.”
