“That he sent someone, perhaps another of his sons, to eliminate them. How would he have found out where they were?”

“You did.”

“No. As I told you, I had heard rumors about what had happened. It wasn’t until you called that I decided to confirm them, and found out that they had fled to the States. I put two-and-two together to come up with the fact that they had become the Sullivans.” Conall pressed his fingertips together in thought. “What if we’re totally off-base as to the motive for the killings?”

“Meaning?”

“Perhaps it had nothing to do with who they were, and everything to do with something Finlay knew. You say he was an accountant?”

“Yes, but what the hell could he have found out that would have pushed a client to murder him and his family?” Deke asked. “And then to come after Rory and Molly when they escaped unharmed? Why did his dad warn Rory not to let ‘them’ find him?”

“Good questions,” Conall replied.

“As much as you hate to admit it?” Deke said dryly.
