Hunter of the Hunters

As I walked with such turbulent emotions floating around my chest, I smelt a scent which made me growl in utter annoyance.

I, with renewed energy, jumped up a tree before jumping from tree to tree, branch to branch, heading toward the scent I'd just picked up. I'd unconsciously let out my claws and fangs, along with what seemed to be a slight increase in muscle mass, height, and width.

Now that I thought about it, I did feel somewhat stronger. Not be much, but definitely a value of increase by around 20%.

It seemed the further along with my phasing, the more of my Wolf Form I could bring out through shifting. I couldn't exactly tell whether I'd be bipedal or quadrupedal but from the lack of change to my posture I'd favor the former in terms to what I would be.

It seems my theory was right. I am a hybrid of some kind.

The strengths of both wolf-like Supernatural creatures flowed through me and I pushed myself further, flashing through the tree canopy. Along the way I'd quickly learned how to silent my footsteps as I flashed from tree to tree - I didn't want my prey to know I was coming after all.

Finally, I found myself above a group of hunters. There were 3 of them, each kitted out with guns and enough ammunition to take on a big bear and still have enough to spare.

Looks like they're sending out hunters to look for me. Or rather the 'animal' that murdered those men.

Taking my eyes away from the hunters, I saw a dark-skinned man with blood-red eyes, though his skin had a weird pale look to it that made him look more olive-skinned. He was around 5'9" and looked quite athletically built, though nothing in comparison to my build.

He had glossy black hair and an easy-going smile and looked incredibly handsome. I'd also guess he has a french accent.

Why? Because I know who and what this person is. A Vampire named Laurent...someone who was in James' Coven.

For those who don't know who James is, he's the main antagonist of the first movie/book in the Twilight Series. He's a sadistic bastard who hunts purely for the fun of it, and after an accidental meeting, he set his sights on Bella. My sister.

I'd already resolved myself to put an end to his plans, and what better way to do that, than to kill one of his Coven Mates*, Laurent?

(A/N - Not an actual mate, but rather a Mate as in a Friend. Weird choice of words for the original author, I know, but from my perspective - someone from England - Mate is what we call friends, so it's not too weird to me.)

I knew what he was here for - to feed - and I knew what the hunters played in this scenario. The food.

But I wouldn't intervene. As heartless as it may seem, I wasn't exactly in the mood to care about such things. All I cared about right now was killing Laurent. The Vampire in question was stalking his prey, so focused on their blood and his promised meal, that he didn't sense me high up in the trees and even if he did, he'd assume I was an animal from the animal-like smell of my blood that Jasper told me about the first time we met.

Anyway, the reason I would allow him to kill is that he'd be at his weakest during the time he was feeding. He'd concentrate on the blood and on sucking it from his victim, so if I attacked during that time - I'd get a sure shot on him.

And I'd make it count.

I heard him whisper something about how he always has to get lunch for Victoria and James but I blocked such things out as I watched him prepare to charge at the hunters.

Why's he even taking this much time? He should be more than fast enough to do it even if they knew he was coming.

Suddenly, he appeared in front of the hunters, obviously, I saw him run, my reflexes finally able to keep up with a Vampire.

He swung his arms outwards and slammed the hunters on the outside of the 'formation' to the side and toward trees which when they hit, incapacitated them. The last hunter was in shock and lifted his gun to shoot at Laurent but the easy-going Vampire just smiled before snatching the gun away and snapping it in half.

His smile showed his pearly whites and must have looked like the smile of death to that Hunter. To me, it just looked like the smile of someone who was about to die. Weird how perspectives can change the scariest things into the most pitiful.

"Well, my friend, you're very lucky," Laurent's french accent was very strong despite the many centuries he'd been alive and traveling the world.

The hunter trembled at the deep, foreign voice in front of him, and fell backward onto his ass, terrified of the figure who could snap a gun so easily in their hands. But he did manage to get some words out in the end.

"W-what...what do y-you mean? Lucky how?!" he yelled as he saw Laurent walking toward him at a painfully slow pace.

It didn't fill me with joy to watch this happen, but I knew it was necessary and wouldn't let this man's death be in vain. Nor would I regret it.

Laurent's smile spread even further, "Well, it's of course because you're going to be my meal. Victoria and James love to play with their food - I'll make it quick and painless," with this, he didn't wait for the confused hunter to speak and jumped on top of him, sinking his teeth into the man.

I positioned myself above Laurent and I felt claws poke from my feet and out of my shoes, gripping the wood just as my clawed hands did. I leaned down before taking a deep, albeit quiet, breathe.

And then I let myself fall.

My weight made my fall quite quick and I reared my hand back, pointed in a knife hand made all the more deadly by the sharp, glinting claws that were at the end of it.

Laurent seemed to notice something but it was all too late when he moved to dodge.

The noise of my claws connecting with his hard, crystal-like skin was incredibly grating, like someone dragging their nails against a blackboard but the grating sound was followed by a cracking sound which was finally followed by a popping sound like something had finally broken after having a monumental amount of pressure applied to it.

Laurent let out a furious but pained yell before throwing himself to the side. I didn't manage to get Laurent's neck as I wanted but I did get something.

Lifting my hand, I waved Laurent's hand at himself, smiling rather manically. I'd taken most of his upper shoulder and all of his arm with my strike and I planned to finish the job.

Laurent looked at me in horror before attempting to flee, but I had already charged at him by this point and tackled him to the floor, my supernatural strength and high body weight making my charge brutally effective.

I and Laurent fell to the ground, with me sending a brutal claw swipe toward his neck with my other arm holding down his only arm.

My swipe connected with his throat and left a deep gash showing the crystal-like appearance of a Vampire's flesh. His arm struggled against me but it proved useless as my position was superior and helped make up for the strength difference, though it was much smaller than I actually realized.

When I went in for my next slash, Laurent used my weight as a counterbalance and pushed himself into the ground, narrowly avoiding the slash which gave way to his counter-attack. Laurent thrust his head forward before sinking his teeth deep into my hand and write, cutting through the flesh until he was stopped by my incredibly dense and tough bones.

But breaking or biting my hand off wasn't his goal, and he flung his head to the side with enough force and strength to fling me off of him and into a tree to the left of us.

I flew through the air but using the information in my head of gymnastics, I positioned myself and rotated in the air until I was perpendicular to the tree I was currently heading toward. I collided with the tree but I pushed off with my feet, canceling my momentum and rocketing myself back at Laurent who'd once again tried to escape.

But when I got just behind him, he spun around and whipped his leg at my head - it seemed his running away was bait.

Though when his kick was about to hit my head, I torqued my body in ways impossible for a human being, and let the kick sail past my head. I stuck out a hand and grabbed his ankle, using it as leverage to swing my clawed foot around in a deadly kick which connected with Laurent's nose causing a sound which sounded similar to rocks being crushed.

As he fell backward from the force and destruction the kick had delivered upon him, following my instincts and my brain which was constantly making me a better fighter, I knew what to do next and I let my momentum carry me over Laurent's falling back while still holding his leg.

Using the fact he only had one leg on the ground and that his balance had been destroyed, I pulled his body up into the air before slamming him down into the ground with a cataclysmal-sounding bang.

A crater about 3 meters wide and about a meter deep was the result of this slam and Laurent let out a moan of absolute pain. But I wasn't done.

I let go of his leg and slammed my foot into his stomach, digging my claws in and piercing his stomach. But that wasn't the end of it as he was sent at blistering speeds into a tree behind him, snapping the Goliath of a tree in two before he fell on his ass at the base of the tree.

Thinking it was done, I walked out to be met with a tree inches from my face.

Reacting purely on instincts, I bent my body back before sending a kick at the tree, sending it off to the side and leaving me with some nasty friction burn.

My blood was pumping as I let myself come back up to face Laurent who was staring at me with fear in his red eyes.

My breath was rapid and hoarse, sounding like the aggressive panting of an animal. Not because I was exhausted but because my excitement had gone through the roof.

Laurent stood there, not turning his back, as you should never do to a wild animal. He just stared at me with fear, before he finally spoke, "W-what are you...?" his voice was shaky and I could tell the pain from having his arm ripped off alongside most his shoulder was proving to be quite painful.

Smirking at his question, I didn't answer, I just got ready to charge.

Instead of trying to run, Laurent seemed to know when to end things and got ready to meet my charge.

Growling with manic savagery, I pushed off with all my strength, only to be met with surprise when Laurent charged as well and met me halfway. I thought he'd wait for me to get to him but apparently, the guy's suicidal.

It turns out he really was as he didn't even attempt to dodge my charge, instead, when my body collided with his, he opened up his bloody maw and bit down on my neck. He bit down deep.

Letting out a roar of pain as I felt some unknown liquid put into my bloodstream, I slammed fist after fist into Laurent's stomach, not minding my own claws digging into my skin and causing my blood to drip from my clenched fists.

But no matter how hard I hit him, he wouldn't let go. So I lifted my hands to hold his neck before pushing him away with all my strength. I knew this would rip out the side of my neck but I knew my inhuman vitality could take it and that I'd heal back to be as good as new after a few minutes or so.

"Arghhh!" roaring, I felt my flesh being pulled along with Laurent as I pushed the leech from my neck. The flesh on the side of my neck came off with one last push and I felt the anger flood me, and numb the pain.

Rage is a hell of an anesthetic, after all.

Stamping down my foot on top of his, I slammed a solid hit on his chest, cracking sounds flooding the air around us as I slammed a brutal flurry of strikes to his chest before moving up to his face and sending merciless hooks which knocked his head from side to side with such speed, I was surprised his head didn't just come straight off.

I was dismantling him with ruthless efficiency, and I kept him in front of me with my foot on top of his, pushing his foot into the ground and not allowing him to escape.

Knowing I'd weakened him enough, I pulled my fist to my side before sending an uppercut at his head with so much speed, the air surrounding us whirled.

*CRACK!*

His body lurched up as his red eyes went foggy from the hit. Looking at him, I saw that cracks had spread all across his face and neck from my assault and now that he was so pitiful, I knew I could finish this.

Quickly maneuvering myself to be behind him, I leaned down a little before grabbing his head and leaning it back onto my shoulder, with one hand on his neck and the other on his chin.

And then I started to pull his head off.

From the structural damage on his neck and head, it didn't take long before his head came off with a weird rocky-sounding snap.

Dropping his head to the floor, I went and picked up his arm before coming back to his body and seeing a small stream of clear liquid coming out of his neck - Venom.

Putting his arm next to his head, I brought two claws next to one another before flicking them, "Au revoir, Laurent!"

As soon as the sparks from my claws hit the liquid, Laurent's body went up in flames like someone had doused him in gasoline beforehand. This is the major weakness of a Vampire; their Venom is incredibly flammable and just so happens to be everywhere in their body. But mainly their head and neck. So if you can cut open their skin and get the venom to flow out, before setting it on fire...well, goodbye, Mr/Mrs. Vampire.

Looking at the fire, I suddenly felt woozy and realized something:

The bite marks from Laurent were healing but they weren't healing as quickly as they should be. I could also feel the subtle burning of the acidic Venom in my veins which was being rejected by my entire body.

I needed to get this removed--

The thought of where I'd have to go made my chest tighten and my stomach lurch but...it was the only place.

I had to go to the Cullens house. Or rather, I had to get to Carlisle.

(Important Author Note: So, from the overall negative response to the last chapter, I take it you guys didn't like it? Well tough.

A lot of you were annoyed about how he handled it, about how he should have told Edy and Leah about his feelings, and while I agree with you, sometimes things go wrong before you can even think about stopping them from going wrong. Life never goes along with what you would like to happen or what you think should happen. Life's a bitch, and you guys need to realize bad stuff is gonna happen in this book because the MC isn't some perfect, godly being who can do everything right. None of the characters are like that.

For those of you who keep saying he's an idiot for trying to get with two girls, well here's my answer - I agree, he's an idiot! He's a 16-year-old going through two different types of puberty, so of course he's gonna be an idiot at times! But you guys need to understand that you can't control your feelings or who you have feelings for. You can suppress them but that's never healthy. You need to embrace them, and if it doesn't work out, then that's that.

At the end of the day, if you don't like the way the story is going, you can just drop it, okay? I'm writing this for the people who want to stick around and read my story, not for the people who complain and second-guess every decision I make. Unless it's constructive criticism, don't complain, and when you do give constructive criticism, please at least be polite about it.

Haah~ Rant over. Hope you enjoyed the chapter~!
