The Hunger Takes Over!

Damon was about to face off with this villain, but he knew he had to protect those kids while fighting him, already giving him a major handicap.

"Are you a superhero?" The Slasher asked, his tone packed with killing intent; Damon didn't give him an answer but he was soon restricted.

The villain wasted no time in making his move, but Damon was not worried, Damon was not some inexperienced hero that didn't know how to get out of tight spots and he was about to demonstrate just why he was the leader of Gen Z.

The Slasher thought this would be just another walk in the park but he was wrong, Damon vanished from his sight, and his physical body was absorbed into his environment.

It felt like he never existed, but Damon soon appeared behind the enemy and attempted to land a blow from his blind spot but he couldn't penetrate the telekinetic force field surrounding the villain's body.

"Teleportation? It does not matter how fast you are if you can't touch me," The villain said but Damon found that the moment he made contact with the forcefield, he was repelled and sent crashing into the building, forcing it to collapse in on itself, crushing Damon beneath the rubbles.

"Was that it?" The Slasher questioned, Damon had appeared so majestically, doing the last-minute cliche hero save only to die in their first exchange? Michael and Edward were the next targets.

-

"Michael, listen to me, okay? I had to or you would have hurt people! The hunger you feel is unnatural and the only way to feel it is to acquire as much as you can! I don't just mean knowledge Michael, I mean everything! You even killed your…!" Edward caught himself before the word could come out of his mouth.

"You lied to me. Edward. You promised… You told me you wouldn't and you did. You're the only person I trusted and you showed me you're just like everyone else. I killed who? Do you want to tell me another lie?" Michael said; he was unfeeling but this hurt him.

"Michael, I had to! If I didn't you would probably be in jail or worse…." Edward blurted out, but he had already lost Michael's trust, Michael didn't believe a word coming out of his mouth.

"You're no different from my parents…" Michael said, getting to his feet but Edward knew he couldn't leave things the way they were because if they were going to die, he wanted to get it off his chest.

"Michael! Once you do it, once you cross that line, there is no coming back!" Edward screamed but Michael wasn't listening.

"I wonder how it works…" Michael muttered like he was in a trance as he began walking toward the supervillain.

"You aren't right in the head, are you?" The villain mocked Michael but he kept walking.

The villain stretched forth his hand, and Michael mimicked him saying.

"You have a loophole in your power, you cannot attack and defend simultaneously but I want to know more," Michael said and the enemy was taken aback by this revelation.

"W-What!?" The supervillain exclaimed and he immediately launched an attack at Michael but for some reason, it never hit Michael. Michael had momentarily made him lose his cool and this allowed Edward's power to nullify his superpower.

And out of nowhere came Damon, appearing and landing a punch right into the villain's face, smashing his mask into pieces in the process.

He tumbled to the ground and stopped right in front of Michael, a piece of his broken mask piercing his right eye.

"This man isn't The Slasher…" Damon said the moment he saw his face, he was a man in his mid-twenties and the man who held that moniker was a man in his early to late forties, there was no way a kid could be him. It became evident why he was defeated.

He was just a boy that felt invincible because he had superpowers, Michael picked up a shard of his broken mask. The mask was composed of a strange material that had unusual durability yet it was shattered with a punch.

"You have negation?" Damon muttered, this was a very dangerous power to have but it was highly coveted in this world, Damon couldn't believe his luck that he ran into someone with such a rare power.

"M-Michael? What're you doing?" Edward questioned but Michael was not listening to him.

The villain became frantic the moment his mask was off, he began trying to put the pieces back together and mumbling to himself incessantly. The mind-numbing pain he felt at

Michael saw an opening, and he grabbed him by the neck, every fiber in his body was telling him one thing and that was to slice open his head.

Edward tried to use his powers to suppress Michael's hunger but it didn't work this time.

It was as he feared, he couldn't suppress it anymore!

"What are you doing child?" Damon asked, and Edward heaved a sigh of relief because he knew that this man would step in but part of Damon wanted vengeance for all the people that this imposter killed, he knew as a superhero it was up to him to stop Michael but Damon looked away. Michael dug the piece of shard into the man's skull and the man screamed in agony, how the mighty had fallen and all it took was a shattered mask and a lost eye.

He was in no way a seasoned fighter or villain, Michael cut him open like a surgeon and Edward looked on in horror. Now he had done it, there was no coming back from this.

The villain couldn't stay conscious, one couldn't blame him and before he knew it, the top of his head was missing, and behold, brain.

Michael studied his brain with immaculate detail but it didn't take long for him to snap back to reality, his trance breaking but he couldn't recall committing this act.

"T-This…" Michael blurted out, he stumbled backward but he wasn't scared of this sight.

Michael could feel himself getting excited and at that exact moment, Edward knew he had lost his friend.
