Michael's Apology

Michael explored the room and it was a lot smaller than the one in whatever simulation he was trapped in.

Michael was partly curious as to where the others were, he didn't know if the Tee he experienced in the world was even real, to begin with.

Michael walked after Elizabeth, he wanted to apologize to her as he knew he needed to earn her forgiveness.

Elizabeth was standing outside, she was only alive because of Tee otherwise she would have been one of the many that never woke up.

Michael exited the building to find Elizabeth standing outside, the weather was kind to them but this was the least of Michael's problems.

Michael was glad that he could feel the wind on his skin once again, the thought of not being confined in a building gave him an overwhelming sense of belief.

"Lizzy…" Michael called out, walking towards her but Elizabeth was non-responsive.

Micheal knew he would need to put in a lot more effort and funny enough, he had no problem with this as Elizabeth had a lot more money than he had.

She was filthy rich and he intended to benefit from this as money was the single superpower that everyone has access to and craved, he was no different.

"I'm so sorry, Lizzy. It is just I can't…" Michael stopped short of completing his sentence as he turned away but this drew Elizabeth in because it sounded like Michael was about to open up to her.

She knew something was wrong with him, Michael has always been weird so this might be an opportunity to understand him.

"You can't what?" Elizabeth asked and the moment she did, Michael grinned abruptly before returning his gaze to Elizabeth.

"I can't control my anger, Lizzy. It overcomes me and I can't differentiate friend from foe but this is the first time I have felt remorse for hurting a friend… For hurting you," Michael said and he noticed the hostile body language of Elizabeth softened.

"I understand if you don't forgive me but I just wanted to let you know that I'm truly sorry and regret my actions. I would never intentionally hurt you…" Michael said as he began walking away but this was once again a bait that Elizabeth gobbled up.

"Wait…" She said and Michael thought to himself.

"Checkmate…" This was the only thought on his mind.

"Don't ever try to manipulate me like you just did now. Was this meant to make me feel special?" Elizabeth countered and Michael's face showed his visible shock, there was no way that Elizabeth saw through it.

"I'm not stupid! I know what you have been doing from the very beginning, Michael but I was willing to overlook everything as long as you were willing to be my friend…" Elizabeth said. Michael was surprised to hear this and didn't even know how to process it.

His smart mouth had been clamped shut because he wanted to hear what else Elizabeth picked up on.

"I was a fool for thinking that, thinking I would be an exception to how you treat everyone else but I do not hate you, Michael…" Elizabeth paused, as she walked towards Michael, placing a hand on his right cheek.

"I just needed time to think…" Elizabeth said.

Michael kept quiet, he knew she would leave him after the long speech and that was what he was waiting for.

"You have all the qualities you would need as a true villain…" Elizabeth said with a smile, her aura was completely different from the upbeat girl he had met.

She looked a lot more tired and that couldn't be helped considering the traumatic experience she just went through.

"If you cannot accept me as a friend, accept me as your support… I want to help you realize your dreams because as absurd as it may be, I believe in you," Elizabeth said. Michael broke away from her and he looked rather scared, Michael has never experienced such a thing from a person before, not even his parents.

"What's wrong with you!? I just tried to kill you and you're asking to be my support? Is this some sort of trap to get back at me!?" Michael looked fazed for the first time but this only showed that he lacked any form of ability to trust another.

"We all die, Michael. I'm choosing to be a part of your story until that day comes…" Elizabeth said calmly.

The table had turned, it now felt like it was Michael on the verge of losing the mind game he had initiated ever since meeting Elizabeth.

Elizabeth began to walk towards him once again but Michael took a step back and he wondered why.

He wasn't scared of Elizabeth yet he somehow feared her touching him.

Michael stretched forth his hand and his powers came to light, Elizabeth froze in place but what was this?

Michael found that she was somewhat resisting his powers as she kept coming forth.

Elizabeth was only just then relishing her powers as her resolve at that moment in time superseded Michael's intent to kill her.

"Stay back!" Michael barked but Elizabeth didn't listen.

Michael looked around and found a sharpened object just laying around, he launched it right at Elizabeth's head.

Elizabeth saw it and Michael expected her to dodge or block it but all she did was spread her arms out.

Welcoming it but the killing blow never stopped, stopping mere inches from her face.

Michael had halted the attack because at that moment, for a brief second, he could swear saw Edward.

Michael slowly lowered his hand as the object fell to the floor, Elizabeth walked towards him and embraced him. Michael could feel his heart settle, it wasn't in a chaotic state anymore, this was peace.

Michael held her tightly, but Elizabeth had a horrified look on her face.

This was a huge gamble and she wasn't sure it was going to pay off, she was certain that Michael would kill her after she admitted to seeing through his trickery but somehow, she truly broke through.

Elizabeth in actuality, wasn't angry that Michael tried to kill her but rather used the outcome of that incident to her favor to trigger this very outcome.
