A New Target?

Jay was done with Astro, he killed him without remorse as Astro was a loose end he had to take out.

He had orders from James to find out what he knew but Jay knew it was pointless trying to interrogate him as he had the eyes of someone that doesn't waver.

Jay instead used this opportunity to let out some pent-up frustration on the unfortunate man.

However, his phone soon buzzed and a new target was assigned to this ruthless killer.

Jay didn't look particularly bothered by this as he had a blunt between his lips so he was quite stoned at the moment.

He had no intention of carrying out this mission right now even though James couldn't stress enough that it was urgent.

Jay rummaged through his pocket and felt something cold in them, he removed it to see it was skin.

Jay had skinned Astro and began consuming his flesh as some sort of snack to help him combat the cravings that came from being high.

This was rather sickening but this was a ritual of Jay, he consumed the flesh of all his killings as he believed it made him stronger, an obvious superstition.

"Damn! I forgot I had dem!" Jay said as he removed the skin from his pocket and took a huge bite out of it but he didn't look impressed by how it tasted.

"Dis be some nasty shit!" Jay coughed as he couldn't seem to digest it for some reason despite having no problems doing so previously.

He tossed it on the ground, Jay didn't care if someone found out he was the killer or not as covering up his trail wasn't exactly his speciality but luckily, he had James to handle that for him.

This meant that he was sobering up despite still actively smoking his blunt.

Jay couldn't believe that he managed to buy some low-grade weed as it wasn't giving him the feeling he craved. He tossed the blunt in his mouth with it lit, chewed it and swallowed it before giving his phone another look to reevaluate just what James had sent.

Jay checked it, squinting his bloodshot eyes as he saw the instruction was to kill a certain person.

"Hospital?" Jay muttered to himself.

Edward was in danger, the man that everyone wanted dead was right there yet he couldn't do anything.

The man was far too calm considering Damon could pop up at any time or anyone else for that matter.

But Edward wasn't feeling like himself and that was because he had unknowingly inhaled part of the drugs that were so common in the slums, it was in the air and due to his overall lack of exposure to it, he had a very low resistance despite peddling it before.

Edward was getting a glimpse into the life he wanted but the thing was he was also connected to reality so this made the effect far more damaging to him.

The key component was balance, taking too much or tomorrow or too little is just as bad.

It has to be taken in the right quantity.

"W-What's happening to me?" Edward thought to himself, he wasn't even sure if the man in the room was real or if he was imagining him.

"The Deadman drug…" A voice echoed.

"It is such an interesting drug, isn't it?" The voice asked but Edward could not speak.

All that escaped his lips were desperate noises that were incorrigible to anyone.

"I have a proposal for you, Edward. You see, I have been watching you…" The man continued as Edward heard rustling noises at the side of his bed.

But before he could even react, liquid streamed down his throat but the taste was not only bitter but it contained iron. Edward quickly wiped his lips.

"I can move?" Edward muttered as he turned to see the man with a tube.

"Everything has an antidote…" The man said and Edward was confused as to what he wanted with him.

Edward realized that this man needed him alive or he wouldn't have gone to such lengths to prevent the side effects of the drugs.

"What do you want!?" Edward barked at him.

"It's not what I want but rather, who I want…" The man said with a bloodcurdling grin.

"I want you, Edward. I want you to come and work for me…" The man said and Edward couldn't believe the audacity he had.

There had to be a reason he was so confident, there had to be a reason he came all the way here just to recruit him. There was no way that this was it.

"And if I refuse?" Edward responded coldly.

"Fred, was it?" And it was just as Edward predicted, he had leverage but was he seriously trying to blackmail him into working for him?

Edward hated to admit it but Fred wasn't a friend that he would compromise his morals for because he understood, not everyone can be saved.

"Killing Fred will only turn him into a martyr! You must be desperate if you are relying on blackmailing!" Edward barked but the man tapped his chin like he was in thought.

"No, I don't think that's the name…" He said prompting Edward to raise a brow but he was brought back to them by the man raising that same finger as he had recalled the name he was looking for.

"I think I got it mixed up, I meant to say, Michael…" The man said and Edward's eyes widened in disbelief.

"You are fucking lying!" Edward lost his cool.

"Lying? I have no reason to lie… Michael is alive and someone is doing everything in their power to make sure you don't reunite with your old friend," The man said calmly

"What do you mean by that!? Who could possibly want me dead?" Edward barked, basically shouting at the man but the Razor Riddler remained calm, he had him exactly where he wanted him.

"James Moore…" The Razor Riddler responded but how did he get this piece of information? Would this be enough to convince Edward or would Edward remain true to his path? This will soon be known.
