Chapter 5

This is Dr. Ashton Kelley, todays date is July 10, 2055. I was chosen to be the new head of Project Zero. My predecessor Dr. Ruben Forze, has left many achievements since his dismissal until his death last year. According to the many log files, notes, footage and data he has left on Project Zero is very helpful. My staff and I didn't lose too much time resuming old endeavors that Dr. Forze started but was never seen through due to budget cuts. There has been many new viruses and diseases that has developed and we cannot find a way to ease them let alone vaccinate anyone. From what I have been briefed on was that Subject Zero is a fluke of evolution that contains a rare and unique genetic code straight out of a comic book. Like a comic book character, Subject Zero is immune or develops immunity to all types of foreign entities that enter his body that was why Dr. Forze highly emphasized redeveloping, remodeling or completing a new brainwashing serum for Subject Zero.

Before resuming any work on Subject Zero we must make sure we are ready to use him again. Unfortunately we do not have that amount of time. We are pressed to rush the experiments because of a new virus that North Korea developed to attack the United States. Kim Jun Hoo, the new dictator and Kim Jun Un's great great grandson, did not threaten but acted. Unlike his Predecessors, Kim Jun Hoo was not afraid to act upon his words. In 2045 he took over South Korea and started to plan to take the rest of the Asian nations like China and Japan. The United States was asked to put an end to the Kim Jun Hoo and his armies but there were many other nations against the United States joining in despite being allies of the nations that are in danger of being taken over.

August 3, 2055, we are ready to begin experiments again on Subject Zero. We have thawed him out and like the data and footage we reviewed, the miracle that is Subject Zero's body shone through. Subject Zero did not have frostbite and his body did not show any signs of decay. Unfortunately, through the heavy usage of the previous versions of the serum, we realized that the one we had developed was less potent than the one used on Subject Zero and had to be reworked. Through many battles, Subject Zero's skin was damn near impenetrable when he tenses up, but when he is relaxed it's like the softest leather. We drew many vials of blood and introduced the blood samples to Korea's virus, no long North or South since North Korea took over. The blood samples were working wonderfully and the virus was showing signs of being cured through the samples. When the cure was fully developed we told our higher ups but were told to hold on to it instead. Apparently if the other nations don't want our help we did not need to provide aid but we will keep it to ourselves for our own protection.

August 20, 2055, I was given orders to halt the cure process for other virus and diseases to reactivate Subject Zero for battle. When reviewing the old data and footage of Subject Zero in action, there was no doubt in my mind that if anyone can get the job done, it would be Subject Zero. I also kept in mind what Dr. Forze was afraid of and that was the thinning control we had over Subject Zero. We were afraid to awaken him during the drawing blood because we didn't realize that the serum we had was weaker than the one administered to Subject Zero. When we did complete a viable formula, Subject Zero already started to adapt to the serum. We had our super computer calculate how long the serum will hold out until we are able to control him but we were given a time frame to which we had to change the formula. Because computers are much more advanced now than when Subject Zero was initially captured, all the data and footage was also included in the calculations. The A.I. on the computer gave us a time frame where we can continue to use Subject Zero for experiments until our deaths.

My whole staff was surprised, so I asked the A.I. "Why would you give a time frame of 6 months until we die?" "Because of the inputted data and footage of Subject Zero's actions and reactions of the recurring events. Subject Zero was stripped of his former life, experimented on and subjected to torture without so much as an explanation why. According to the data that Dr. Forze has left behind, Subject Zero seems to be aware of what is going on around him. Because of the multitude of brain experiments and massive amounts of serum he has taken, the body of Subject Zero has doubled the amount he can adapt and overcome. Considering that he still holds hatred for his captors, death is an inevitability, Doctor Kelley."

Like my staff, I was mortified to know that we only had 6 months to live if we were to continue using Subject Zero. I told my superiors what the final analysis is if we were to proceed but it came upon deaf ears. I warned my superiors that I will not put my staff in danger for their selfishness. I know it was jokingly but they told me to put the blame on them instead of my staff. I took it with a grain of salt but I did as they asked. Whenever Subject Zero was experimented on we would often talk loudly and indirectly to each other with Subject Zero within ear shot. If what Dr. Forze said was true, that Subject Zero, even while under the serum, was aware of his surroundings then he could listen in while we said the names of our superiors that ordered us to do these experiments. At first I was proud to know that with Subject Zero's help we can cure many or all health problems but it became a harsh realization to find out that he was a person erased from society because of a unique genetic code.

On December 24, 2055, Subject Zero was reactivated for battle with new weaponry and clothes. The clothes was a new metal fiber mesh that, while stopping small caliber bullets, can still last a long time. As for the weaponry, Subject Zero was given blades weapons such as knives and swords. His go-to was always the death scythe so it was upgraded in sharpness and toughness. The scythe can easily cut through rock and metal alike let alone human bodies.

December 25, 2055, Christmas. A few hours before the date changed to the 25th, Subject Zero was let loose upon Korea. Equipped with his weapons and newly developed drone cameras with cloaking were launched. In the span of a day and a few hours Subject Zero put an end to all the low and high ranking officers of the Korean army. Subject Zero moved at a speed unprecedented in previous footage or experiments. The longer we see all death and destruction he caused gave us a bigger fear of him. I know that the A.I. used data to make its calculations and predictions but I doubt that we will last the full 6 months. When everything was done the people of Korea, those who followed in Kim Jun Hoo's ambition, were devastated to find out that their great leader and his entire family tree was wiped out. From male to female, newborn to the super elderly at the age of 150, gone, the Kim Jun family was no more. One has to expect a longer lifespan with the advancements of medical science.

When word of the deaths of all their armies on their homeland reached the deployed military, they retreated back home, but only to lose their lives. As soon as the planes and ships returned, Subject Zero was waiting to take their lives. My god, what did the higher up order him to do? Including the battles of WW3 and now this, Subject Zero's death count was in the millions.
