V1-CH10: Survive Ratsel!!!!

"We have to be careful the shooter is right there on the third floor."

John: "Leave it to me, I'll get rid of him."

I watched as John proceeded to remove the rifle from his back and take aim towards the science building. It was obvious to see that John was very agitated, what occurred to Ratsel was bothering him quite a bit. I hope he doesn't do anything reckless.

He steadied his arms and looked through the scope aiming towards the third floor. It wasn't too difficult to spot the enemy.

Bang!!

I watched through my binoculars as the rifle went off, unfortunately, the shot missed but the opportunity was enough. The shot landed close enough that it startled the attacker.

"Let's hurry up and get inside while the shooter is away from the window."

Taking advantage of this opportunity while the shooter is away from the window we quickly cross the street and enter the side of the building.

(POV changes to Ratsel)

Meanwhile, on the roof of the science building, Ratsel slowly opens her eyes.

She looks around and sees tries to see if anything is there. She hears loud noises off in the distance, looking over she saw the silhouettes of two giant birds fighting. She recognized one of them, it was the golden eagle.

Ratsel: "I have to leave the roof it's too dangerous here."

I approach the side of the building but I do not manage to find a way down. The building is five stories high with no emergency exit on the side. I look around and manage to find a hatch in the middle of the roof. I quickly approached it and opened it, an extendable ladder fell and I quickly climbed down into the fourth floor.

The room I descended into was quite small, looking around I noticed that I was in a storage room. I looked around for something I could use to defend myself, my eyes eventually landed on a broom. Taking out the machete that was strapped to my belt I cut off the brush that was at the end. With this, I had a weapon with a slightly longer reach.

I then proceeded to calm herself and close her eyes. I tried to concentrate on the image in my mind and manifest it similar to Sulien's and John's weapons. I kept trying for a minute, but no luck. My current goal was to meet back up with the group and go to the parking lot where my car is.

Slowly opening the door, I exited the storage room. I looked around the corridor, it was empty and hard to see due to the darkness.

The stairs were at the end of the corridor, as long as I reached there I could quickly decent to the ground floor.

I cautiously began traversing the corridor, as I walked I heard creaking noises from one of the rooms. I peeked into the room and found a person standing there by the window.

I felt my back become cold, I looked at my hands; it was shaking. I had to somehow go past the door without alerting the man. At this moment I am alone and by myself with no one to rely on.

I braced myself and began to go past the door. Holding my breath I tried to be as quiet as I can. As I was halfway across the man turned around.

I was able to see his features, he was about two meters tall and his eyes were bloodshot. However, what scared me the most was the markings all over his face and arms, they looked like vines crawling through his skin. At first, I thought they were tattoos, but I was wrong, the markings were slightly glowing letting out a soft red light.

???: "Hmmm I thought I killed all the gifted in the building, how did you get up here."

Hearing his voice and what he said, I froze up. The way he talked about killing others caused me to freeze up.

???: "I left three of my kin downstairs to prevent anyone from getting up here, but somehow you managed to be here."

Ratsel: "Who are you!!!"

???: "You sound afraid, don't worry you don't have to be afraid of me. As a gift of managing to get up here ill kill you quickly without any pain."

Hearing what he said I grabbed the door shut it, I turned towards the stairs and attempted to run towards it.

Boom!!!!

It was too late the strange man burst through the wall. He was standing between her and the stairs, he cut off her escape.

???: "How rude to shut the door on me. Why are you trying to leave didn't I tell you, ill kill you painlessly."

I begin to run the other way, but the corridor is a dead end. I have no way of going down, my only option is the roof. I enter the storage room and begin to climb back into the roof.

???: "You can't run from me, ill catch you soon enough."

Once on the roof, I brace myself to attack him with my makeshift spear. In not too long I hear the sound of a door break, the strange man began to climb up the ladder.

Taking this opportunity while he is venerable she tried to stab him with the wooden spear hoping to have him fall from the ladder. She struck down but he managed to grab the spear. In one pull she managed to wretch the wooden spear from her hand.

???: "You are starting to make me angry, you can't run away from me you know."

I quickly put some distance between the hatch and myself. I reach for the machete stepped to my waist and quickly unsheathe it. He now exited the hatch, he looked at me amused and then proceeded to snap the wooden spear in half and toss it to the side.

???: "These weak weapons won't do anything to me, you might as well give up."

He then began to walk towards me. Dammit, I won't die, I won't let him kill me. I have to meet back up with John, Sulien, and my dad. I began to dash towards him and proceeded to hack at him with the machete.

My attack was useless, he managed to grab the blade with his hands. He then proceeded to kick me in the stomach, I lost my grip on the machete.

I began coughing and throwing up due to the force of the kick. He did not do anything and watched as I recovered my breath.

Ratsel: "How were you able to grab the blade with your bare hands without bleeding."

I watched as he smiled at my request, I saw him drop the machete and show me his palm. There were black makings on his palm and soon I saw his hands harden like a rock and take the shape of a claw.

Ratsel: "Just what are you!!!!"

This time he did not answer my question, he approached me and grabbed my neck and began choking me. I couldn't breathe, I started flailing my legs in pain. As the light faded from my eyes I saw his eyes, they were completely black including the sclera.

???: "You asked me what I am, I am a monster."

After answering my question he proceeded to toss me off the roof and walk away.

As I fell I closed my eyes and passed out.

As Ratsel fell from the roof, white light began to manifest beside her. Eventually, it managed to take the form of a giant lizard. It was green in color and had red stripes, there were sharp stripes going down its back.

The lizards grabbed onto the building, it stuck to the side of the building perfectly with its legs. It then proceeded to open its mouth from which a long whip-like tongue shot out and wrapped around Ratsel grabbing her. It then proceeded to slowly climb down the building with Ratsel hanging on the side.

Meanwhile, on the roof, the man with the tattoo watched as the Ratsel was saved from the fall.

???: "Hmm so she managed to manifest her gift right when she was about to die, she got lucky. Oh well, I'll go take care of her after I get rid of the intruders that just entered the building.
