Chapter 4

I tried something with this chapter. I hope you like it and today's chapter and I hope to see you another time.

===========================================

???: Nathan wakes up. Mom made food. Come on, silly, you need to get ready," A blurry voice said. I opened my eyes.

Nathan: "What? Where am I, huh, Kate? Is that you? How have you-" 'Wait, she died before I hit high school," I thought, looking around. I saw my old bedroom in my parent's room, and Kate, my older sister, died in drunken driving when she was heading to work.

Kate: "Come on, Mom made breakfast. It is going to get cold, and you need to spend time with me. I am only here for spring break; I have to go back in a few days.

Standing up, I seem smaller; walking to the bathroom, I look at the mirror and see my old self, an ordinary kid with brown hair and brown eyes, as usual as you can get in the States.

Kate: "Come hurry up, we can't eat without you," she screamed from downstairs.

Walking down, I see Mom and Kate sitting down, waiting for me with food in front of them. Looking at the food, it seems blurry. Why? Walking down, I sit next to Mom and across from Kate.

Kate: "Hey, why not sit next to me," she said pouty.

Mom: "Because he loves me more, right," she said, hugging me and kissing my head.

She died of cancer at 68 when I was finishing my Bachelor in welding when I was 30. God, I missed them. Then, the whole world got blurry, and something started to drop from my eyes. Touching it with my hand, I saw a transparent substance.

Kate: "Why are you crying, Nat," she said worriedly.

Mom: "Did I hug you too tight? I'm sorry, please don't cry," she said, backing up, but I laughed at her with so much EMOTION that what it was. I am feeling emotion after so long; I am so foreign. It's been so long.

Nathan: "No, I love you, Mom, and you too, Kate. Whaaa," I wailed as Kate came over and hugged us.

Mom: "It's fine, son. I hope you have fun in your next life, and seeing you grow up was the best thing to happen to me," she said as the whole world was fading black.

Kate: "Why Nat? I love you too, the best little brother I could have had. Had fun. I wish I were there for you, more like when you were there for me," she said as their voices faded, leaving me in a black void.

Waking up, I don't feel anything again. Looking around, I see the sun high in the sky as I lay and think about that dream I have not dreamed of in a long time. I wonder why I got that and how they knew about my new life. There are so many questions but no answers. This is stupid. Standing up, I walk out of my room and to the kitchen. I see a tray of fresh food waiting for me. I sense a Demonic soul in the kitchen, so I walk over to the food and see it taste perfect.

Kouji: "Thank you, it was good. I love your cooking," I said, putting the tray and dirty plates in the kitchen window.

I heard pot rattle. I think that means he likes me. Walking back to my room, I thought about what type of exorcist I wanted to be. There are so many to choose from, I said, looking at the book Yukio gave to use.

Knight: Engages in combat using weapons like swords or staffs. Some Knights even utilize rare, enchanted demon blades or unleash robust and long-range magic attacks through their defensive devices.

Dragoon: Enters the fray with firearms like pistols, machine guns, grenades, and bazookas. Special weapons or ammunition can also be used against specific demons.

Tamer: Relies upon the aid of demonic familiars summoned via a blood contract. A strong will is needed to control a familiar, who will turn on a weak-minded Exorcist quickly.

Aria: Keeps evil in check by reciting verses from sacred texts. Fatal Verses can exorcise specific demons, but being an Aria is dangerous due to the time it takes to recite these verses.

Doctor: Has medical knowledge to treat wounds inflicted by demons and otherwise.

There are so many, but I am leaning more toward Tamer and Knight. Grabbing my pen from my desk, I give it a once over and think of weapons I can make it into, but I wonder if it gets its effects right looking up. I think of Tessaiga from Inuyasha looking back at the pen. It turned into the sword; I was thinking. Looking at it, I see a battered katana with a heavily chipped and rusted blade with the hilt's fabric tearing away from it, but I wonder if it has the effects. The only demon I see here is me, so I open the window and jump up onto the roof. Standing there, I throw the sword up. As it falls, I see it turn into an oversized dog's fang; cross guard turned into a large patch of fur similar to a dog's. Catching it, I used a Kenatsu by swinging the sword, but nothing happened. Is it because I do not have yōki? Well, that sucks.

Turning it back into a pen, I think of another weapon but with no abilities. After a bit, I think of a sword, Elucidator from SAO. It was cool looking down. I see the pen, now a black sword with a pitch-black sword with trims of gray. It has a black hilt connected to a hand guard that drops down on the right side. Attached to this elongated area of the handguard is part of the Elucidator's blade. What an excellent blade, but I need something rugged and unbreakable.

I then think of a more potent, unbreakable weapon that can kill demons: Mugen, that sword from D. Grey-man. Looking down, I see Elucidator change into Mugen, a black katana-like sword. Now, how do I activate it? I wonder, wait, I know.

Kouji: "Unsheathe Mugen," I said as I ran my middle and index finger along the back.

The once black sword is now silver, but I wonder if it works. I try and use it like the anime, but it does not work. I wonder why, maybe because I am not Kanda, but that makes no sense because I activated it. Wait, what if I then hold the blade and break it off, throwing the broken blade on the floor?

Kouji: "Drink up," I said as the blade took some of my life forces and repaired before my eyes.

Well, I will worry about when I really need a weapon. It's already pretty dark, and I am hungry, so I go down to get some food. Going to the dining room, I see a tray of food like the last time I ate it, and then I give my thanks to the chef, head to my room, get ready for class tomorrow, and go to sleep.

To Be Continued. . .
