Chapter 10: Don't Lie

Beep beeeeeep, he honked at the gate to his house. I don't know whether he forgot his gate was a supposed to be opened with his fingerprint or what. Realizing this, he got out of the car and place his thumb on the capacitive finger print detector close to the gate and opened it. As always Alexa come out with a heart warming smile and gave him a tight hug which instead of relieving him from exhaustion, it rather made him feel more guilty. After giving him that loving and I've missed you hug, they exchange kisses and she took his bag. Alexa was surprised when Nyx didn't come out as well. As he began to move inside, "Murphy" Alexa called. "Yes",he responded in a somehow slightly paniced mood as if he was called from Pluto to planet Earth. After he realized he was truly on Earth, he turned to his wife's direction and watched her closely to pay need to what he was about to hear. " Are you okay?" She asked. This question question really surprised him. "Hey, that was unexpected." He smiled at her innocence. "Anyways I'm fine and not fine for some reasons. "Hmmm" she sighed upon hearing his answer. I hope you're not lying to me Murphy. I just hope so. Where is Nyx? She asked as they got to the door which led to the main hall of the house. " Let's get inside first.". He replied. As they got inside the large hall, an unusually elusive sense of breeze mixed with a sandalwood smell swept over him. As if a smell was cast on him at the moment, he stopped there at once in uncountable corners of the smooth walls embraced with a light yellow paint. Whatever amazed him was the numerous photographs adorning the walls with each conjuring the different emotions of variety of eternal moments. At that moment he saw the fruit of his hardwork and that is the luxury he is enjoying now. He was jolted out from his incomprehensible daze when Alexa entered shutting the bonny door that showed it's true beauty perfectly in all seasons. As he marched towards the glass and classy center table and laguishly dropped his car keys and threw himself on the soft and smooth white sofa which was positioned to face the large flat screen television on the wall and loosed his neck tie. After five solid minutes of breathing and being watched by his beautiful wife without a word, he opened his eyes gently as if he waking up from a deep sleep. " Alexa please come with me." As he said this, he took her hand into his palm and dragged her into their room upstairs. "Murphy" she called again. " "Yes darling." He responded calmly under pressure. You've still not answered my question. Don't worry I'll answer it very soon but under only one condition. "Okay" she said. Alexa, don't panic. Fine, I won't. She answered. Alexa, he called again, Nyx is in the hospital. How? What happened to her? No, why is she there in the first place, because she was fine when I sent her to school this morning. Infact how did she get there? Alexa,please drop the questions because I'm equally confused as you are right now, if not more. Let me just tell you what happened.

I was in a meeting around 1pm when I got a call and I rejected it because I didnt know the number and I couldn't pick the call because of the meeting which was ongoing. It was one of the most important meetings with some share holders, I guess you already know that. The calls kept coming so I place the phone on silence mood. About five more minutes for the meeting to be over, I had another call with the same number calling again. This time I couldn't reject it because of how consistent the number kept calling so i answered it. When I answeredthe call the person was not talking for a short while so I decided to listen to what was going on the the background but suddenly a heard a screeching sound as if the person has dropped the phone and then followed by a family voice calling Nyx. Hearing the emergence in the voice, I realized there was trouble so I went straight to her school. I was about reaching her block when the person called again. " Hello, Mr. Cheng, sensing the panic in his voice, I just asked for his direction and went to pick her up to the hospital. I won't like to tell you what I saw because it's disturbing. The doctor's reaction was not too good but I know she'll be okay. Nyx is a strong girl. But you know something, I'm worried about Seyong because she was there when whatever happened was happening. She didn't talk the whole time we got to the hospital. I know she's not taking it easy at all because even me, hmmm. He sighed heavily. Anyways, I came to take you with me to the hospital. " Is mom there?" He asked. "No" she replied. " Okay that sounds good and bad." " Where is she then? I guess she went out with your dad again. " Oh okay." Can't complain about that one either. I'm not changing my shirt so I'll be waiting for you downstairs.

Alexa, don't keep long. He sang while taking the first step on the stairs and making more emphasis on the " don't keep long".

( Women are so wonderful. Aren't they? They can do certain things very fast but when it comes to dressing to get out of the house it's like they are preparing to take an award for they husband. I don't know whether they want to make their husband's crushes jealous or what. Anyways that's what keeps them on the go. Keep it up Women. When you don't dress well your husband will be stolen.)

If you keep long I'll leave without you. He shouted. "As if I can do that" he murmured to himself. He knew what his wife could do that's why he gave her that warning.

"Seriously, Murphy, it's not as if I'm going for a beauty contest and this is a critical issue, okay. She also shouted back. It was as if they were talking from opposite sides of a noisy river. "Ok then, I'll be waiting for you." It was approximately five minutes when Alexa got down fully dressed up. "Are you done?" He asked with astonishment written boldly on his handsome face. "So women can dress this fast?" He questioned himself. Let's hurry up and go because I'm not convinced about the the security of that hospital. What do you mean? Don't worry you know I don't believe the security of any place aside this place. " Make sure you're not lying to me". Alexa said and sat inside the car.
