Chapter 20: A chance for the man with a hopeless dream

Kiritsugu Emiya was worried, slightly glad, and pissed off beyond belief. Three conflicting emotions swirled within his gut as he carried the blood-filled grail away in his large black duffle bag.

This grail war was not going to be easy, he knew that much at least.

But what happened at the docks was not something he could have ever prepared for in his entire life as a magus. A lot of things went wrong. A lot of unwanted variables appeared. And everything went to shit at the end.

First, The King of knights and of Britain Arthur Pendragon was in reality not a man but a young woman posing as a man. This came as a huge shock to Emiya, though it didn't really hinder his plans her negative outlook on his path to achieve his goal might have posed a problem later on down the line.

Second, His summoning that was supposed to summon the most powerful of saber servants was actually a success but ended with a tiny irritating little extra that came in the form of a newborn Russian bear dog.

Third, the supposed dog was a complete mystery to him, his wife, and his servant saber meaning it was a wild card. Something he definitely didn't like. And something he wanted gone for good.

Fouth, when he tried to get rid of the mutt--dog. His wife instead told him that it would be a great playmate for Illya which he heavily disagreed with, but in the end, gave up after a single glare from Iri.

He knew the relationship with his daughter was...Iffy to say the least.

Fifth, that dumb dog was acting like it owned the place and if his vision wasn't failing him, smirked when Iri allowed the dirty dog on their bed and when Illya instantly became transfixed with it.

Sixth, he had his familiar shadow the dog as it didn't seem to be adept at magic in the slightest, but it somehow managed to track down and kill caster and his master, cause 3 earthquakes within 1 hour, kill a stray dog by having it choke on a large ball of mush that looked suspiciously like the red meat he gave it earlier before, and finally gained the ability to teleport via portals showing up at the docks later that night.

And even after all that, it had managed to blow away Lancer, Lancer's master, and half the wharf in the process, instigate 3 different heroic spirits into unleashing their noble phantasms completely destroying the docks and killing themselves in the process and finally partially activating the grail, killing Maiya and eliminating all servants aside from assassin.

At this point, the war was over.

The grail had been summoned.

And Assassin was the winner.

But despite that fact, the war didn't end.

This meant one of two things.

Either one of the servants aside from assassin was still alive.

Or the grail needed all 7 servants to be complete.

Either way, Kiritsugu still had a chance to make his dream come true.

And he would accomplish his goal at any cost.

Luckily, he still had one card left in play.
