I don't get why everyone is complaining. This is a pretty solid foundation for a story and his personality really comes to the front in a lot of his decisions. He is giving off a "I've been betrayed too many times" vibe that has him be cold to everyone because nobody probably cared enough for him in his past. I'm all for slow if the plot is solid.

Chill it's only the first 20 chapters. Literally all your cookie cutter xianxia has this sort of "evil relative/clan infighting" **** at the beginning to justify the rise of mc, this isn't much different.

feels like some ppl reading different novel. In this novel MC got back right before test, wich is after his previous self was wearing mask of arrogance for whole childhood. After all those years of complexes, his bro would not listen to any words of older bro. Going all out is even worse, since his strenght is low. So basicly theres not much he could do

Why are people saying he could of converted the brother?? The plan to cause the rift between the brothers was already in motion so doing anything now would be absolutely useless as there was already jealousy in the brothers heart. Changing the way you treat someone so suddenly would of only been seen as suspicious and full of underlying motives.

yo whoever was thinkin' that Fang Zheng was wronged, there you have it as**oles! this is his true inner nature that couldn't be brought out due to him being suppressed and tbh Fang Zheng has always been deemed beyond redemption throughout the series REMEMBER THIS. Renegade Immortal is one of the best novels and its story is slow and so so in the first 250 chapters. I have many friends that already read around 2000 chapters from Reverend Insanity and everyone recommended it with sparks in the eyes. Thanks fellow daoists and keep going. =)
