The Lazy Golden Egg

Inside the Chancellor's Main Office:

Karna - "Now I hope you are aware of the rules and regulations associated with our esteemed academy. Just in case you're curious, here's the book you'll need to memorize to be a great student. Because of this rather unique situation, you will surely get offers from countries across the globe, chiefly the world powers. I would request you to stay and help our nation move forward."

Meghnad - "It doesn't really matter to me, nuh-uh. I do have one question. Am I supposed to attend all the classes? Do you know how much of a pain in the butt that is going to be? I won't be able to help my father sort through his job. This is already turning out to be a drag..."

Karna was furious. The devil-may-care attitude disturbed him greatly. "As the only one on Earth who can harness the powers of all 6 elements, you are in a different league from the rest of us. However, you shouldn't take this role lightly. Our people have never shied away from doing their duties for the past 4000 years. In this new era of magic, we need individuals like you to fight on the frontlines and battle the forces of darkness-"

Meghnad - "Has anyone ever told you that your rambling is boring Chancellor? I sure hope you won't be one of my teachers."

Karna - "That's it. Meet me on the ground. It is empty right now since all the students are still inside the hall. I will show you what real magic looks like and how helpless you'll be against an actual expert."

Karna walked towards the field, with Meghnad jogging behind him. The kid could only dream of having his hilsa fish dinner; Amrit would be making his special curry that very night. He couldn't afford to be late, as both father and son had a large appetite. At the center of the deserted ground, Karna Mitra stopped and looked at Meghnad. He smiled and extended his left hand to the top.

Meghnad - "Are you trying to measure how tall you are? Don't bother, I'm still very young. There are no grey hairs on my head yet sir."

Enraged, Karna cast a spell - "Gaia shaker: Level 2". The ground beneath Meghnad's feet broke apart so he decided to jump.

Meghnad (spell): Daedalus Wave Level 3 [It allows the user to fly and adds a speed boost]

Karna was taken aback. He had not hoped that the young foe would be aware of a high-grade magic spell.

As Meghnad faced his opponent, he asked a simple question, "If you lose today, you will grant three of my wishes no matter what I ask for. Is that clear, Chancellor?"

Karna scoffed at him, "You may be remarkable but you aren't a full-fledged warrior just yet. Time to take this up a notch. (Spell) Gaia Hammer Level 4." A gigantic hammer materialized from the soil and quickly swiveled in Kumar's direction. A teacher was watching the battle from the bleachers, with an intense look on her face. She would jump in if the potential student was in any real danger."

For the first time, Meghnad smiled at the Chancellor, "I have to wrap this up fast, so don't blame me for any broken bones. (Spell) Agni Storm Level 5."

Karna and the hammer get blown away but the head is skilled enough to cast a Gaia shield before extensive damage occurs. However, most of his clothes are burnt to a crisp, leaving him with an embarrassing look.

The kids gathered in the hall were watching the whole showdown the entire time. Upon laying eyes on the Chancellor in underwear, they burst into laughter.

Riya was outraged at Kumar's (aka Meghnad) behavior, "How can a nobody be this strong? I have never heard of this buffoon in my entire life and he disgraced the Academy's head in a single match? This is unacceptable. I must inform Father about everything, he'll know what to do with this rotten apple."

Meghnad- "Oops I gotta split Chancy. Time for dinner. If I'm late, only the curry will remain. And there is absolutely no point in consuming a curry without the key ingredient in it. My father had a pretty good catch today morning and I've been looking forward to this meal for a whole week. Take a pause for the cause huh?"

Karna thundered, "How dare you humiliate me by shortening my title? You are nothing but a puny rascal." He sighed and continued, "The next semester begins from next month onwards. Don't be late."

Meghnad- "You're forgetting something, aren't you? You owe me three wishes. We'll talk about that when on the day of enrolment. Now, off I go towards the horizon."

Karna watched the kid fade away into the distance, and let out a hearty laugh, "I haven't been this pumped-up in years. Now the game shall begin."
