just suggest. How about make MC having Ice Release, like his mom is from Yuki Clan. Also since the timeline is in war period, you can set his parents to die earlier so you won't really need to create the complicated plot for it.

MC is Yagura SI. Yagura canonically doesn't have Ice Release. As this won't be too much of an AU I don't see Yagura wielding Ice Release Kekkei Genkai unless he uses a combination of his Wind and Water Chakra nature release.
