Not gonna lie, you just gave me the best suggestion ever, your suggestion helped me so much that for the next chapter, I'll give you a surprise. ;)

LocalDrunk:well it doesn't have to be in one chapter. It could be like a long quest. He goes to the general location and is disappointed that now he has to find him. It'll take awhile for him to find Fence. We see the MC go to different parts of the location in different days to get a clue while still salvaging and hoarding. The best part about this is that even in the quest, he can still hear rumors of other traders so it doesn't feel like we're stuck to this one path of only looking for the Fence
