Kenshin certainly needs combat skills, without them I can't imagine him alive for long, he doesn't need to fight if it can be avoided, but he should be able to defend himself. Plus if he's going to have a harem of girls with supernatural powers, he's going to need to stay in shape or gain power somehow.
I just hope that Kenshin will create a good artificial body with which he can live much longer. Well, or he will achieve this in some other way. I don't understand why he can resist such a thing. After all, if you have the opportunity not to die, then why not?
