He did not beat Kenpachi who was only using a small portion of his power as the author says, not even when it is this version of Kenpachi that does not use shikai and bankai. It's quite disappointing, as tired as he is that he can't beat a very limited kenpachi, it's quite pathetic and weak. What hope does Itachi have for the future no matter how hard he trains? I don't understand why they make such weak MCs.
Although I can understand the reason and what you were aiming for. In reality, I don't see why it is a necessity to cover needs or for the sake of the diversity of preferences, that is, if the author writes about weak MC it is simply because he wants to, not because of any need or because he should write about it since he can do it any way. In another way, this to satisfy what he does it for, for that reason he does not have the need. Futhermore, if there were a need it would not have to be reasonable, preferences and emotions sometimes dont make sence.
