I don't dislike how you handled it. Hachiman views himself as a gentleman, and how you view yourself is important in how you act. He doesn't deny his attraction to Saeko or the others but obviously prefers to do things slower. I don't agree with the people here calling him a "Beta" MC, he does aknowledge his desires, yet restrains himself for the sake of other priorities. If I were in his place I don't think I would have the willpower to resist temptation, and I'd say that speaks best of his character. He's not a "Beta", as he is not afraid, but driven.
