Well, I work in medical field too. Yes, thin arteries need only small pushes but it is stated in book that main character has no problem wth standing up, walking and rotating his head which would burst much thicker arteries. Brain anaurysms also dont kill people immediately.
The_Sweet_Sparrow:Not impossible. I work in the medical field. If the wall of the artery is thin enough, it would only take a small jostle to kill.
Data that will be used: Average apple weight:140 grams/ 0.33 pounds World record (guiness)(apple weight): 1.849 kg/ 1 lb 4 ounce Average apple volume: 187 cm3/ approximately 6.4 fl oz World record( guiness) (apple weight) s volume:(estimated with guess and some calculations- you can retort or change the information) 2500 cm3/ 0.66 gallons Average human brain is 1.10 kg/2.425 lbs Assumptions: Apple will be perfectly spherical for the sake of simplicity Grav. force will be equal to 9.8m/s2 for all earth surface for the sake of simplicity Drag coefficent: 0.47 Density of air: 0,0012 g/cm3 Duration of impact will be set to 2 seconds Apple is unbreakable and will not bounce Evolutinary benefits of cushion effects of CSF and skull will be neglected Abbreviations: World record apple -WRA Average apple - AA Calculation: Radius of AA = 3.55 cm Cross section area of AA = 39.59 cm2 (approx. to 40) Terminal velocity of AA= 34.816 m/s Radius of WRA= 8.42cm Cross section area of WRA= 223 cm2 Terminal velocity of WRA= 62.34 m/s Momentum of AA= 4,9 kg.m/s2 Momentum of WRA= 155 kg.m/s2 Force AA= 2,45 N Force WRA= 77,75 N Acceleration caused by AA: 2.22 m/sn2 0,25g Acceleration caused by WRA: 70,68 m/sn2 7,21g Which is both less than acceleration caused by jumping (9,8g peak) AA acceleration is less than running(average 1,25g) Conclusion: A human being cannot function while being able to die by an apple.
