Anzo Sarutobi (Future growth possible if introduced to monkey sage mode, making a good recurring character and mentor, someone the MC can trust fully outside of a family figure) Female Itachi (Izuna I think the name was) for no other reason beside it’s a character we know and can care about, there can only be so many characters and personalities in a story. And finally the clinch Yamato as the third. (Another character with strong growth potential if his yang release and mukoton are expanded and explored. If he is given a focus like taijutsu or staffs it would be another interesting character. Especially if he inherits the monkey summon and sage mode. It would make three really strong S-level ninjas and can represent the next generations of Sannins MC - Long Range, Yin Female Itachi- Mid-range - Yamato - Short Range Yang

I think they should train him to control his chakra reserves ... though.... neglecting the yang side of the chakra seems foolish.

As a teammate you need someone who can keep up with the pace of advancement of the MC, izuna is almost obligatory (he is one of the few ninja to have an influence on him) and as another teammate I can see Anko (who was trained by Orochimaru) or a root ninja who was trained the hard way in the Danzo method, I can't think of anyone else who has managed to follow the MC.
