I don’t know what that jerk is talking about. Subsidiary rights remain with the author all the time unless the author specifically sells them away. Want some examples? Michael Chrichton had to specifically sell the adaptation rights to Jurassic Park. JK Rowling signed separate contracts throughout the release of the Harry Potter film series. The author of Twilight had to approve adaptation. It goes on and on. It’s standard to NOT sell adaptation rights with publication of the novel. Where are you getting this nonsense?
