Regarding the innocence,you don't have to kill them ,just feed on them enough to get by,and then make them forget,or not them out beforehand(if they are someone the MC doesn't trust and hasn't gathered a cult around him).(I assume your going to make this happen eventually,so just giving you a way to make it somewhat comfortable for us readers here who have delicate sensibilities😊) And yeah,regarding the cult of followers thing,its a viable way to get blood,just find some desperate people who are in a bad spot and wouldn't be missed by society(like a prostitute who wants out,or a trafficked person who is praying to be saved,or a dying,homeless,veteran who was cast aside by society or is unable to get a job due to only knowing how to be a soldier.) Seriously,alot of authors don't take advantage of this enough.(or alternatively,find a moderately wealthy individual who is dying and wants,viola MC steps in ,turns them,and he gets a benefactor who is loyal to the MC.)
