Daisy is playing with fire ๐ฅ. She is playing really well but that part of the game feeds the masochist in him ๐คฃ and he loves a good challenge. Not sure though how long she will hold on to her boundaries ๐ but I am here for it. At the end I think it is a win-win for both but the last statement with him makes me a little sad for him. He will have to face loss and grief once he makes his decision.
Interesting. Rhain's heart doesn't beat, except on rare occasions, and as the years pass, he feels himself becoming less human and more m'nster. It's how he perceives himself, a selfish m' nster. Despite caring, he believes Daisy wouldn't understand his kind of caring because it doesn't erase what he is. Daisy struggled with this, so he isn't entirely wrong. She finds it difficult to reconcile how he can both scare someone and still care for them.I suspect his self-perception is partly influenced by his brother. He thinks that his caring for Daisy also stems from a selfish place. He is often cold and detached which makes him able to actually stop himself from delving into the past and painful memories. That alone says a lot.
I have been thinking about this since I read the chapter this morning: What is Daisy trying to do? What does she think will happen if he ever confesses that he cared, that his good treatment wasn't a scheme to get her to trust him and then use her for his own enjoyment and to feed on her? What will be her next step? What will she gain ? Or is she seeking validation and that is it?
