tftc honestly Harry should have never gotten involved with Riddle especially after he hid himself from his arcane hearing or after he met him in Lockharts room he’s drawing trouble to himself for basically no reason especially since Riddle doesn’t want anyone dead the worst case would be that someone is abducted but even then he knows where the entrance is
I understand that you want to stage a confrontation between Harry and Tom and don't want to make it too easy for Harry. But honestly there are so many things he could have done but it feels like Harry is looking at all his options........From the first day he knew the Map was very useful but he didn't even try looking for it. While the Map should be with the twina he should have at least tried searching for it in Fich's office and maybe tried "borrowing" it from thrle twins. The twins also tend to explore the castle, he could have followed them and knocked them out taken the map from them. They'd definitely have it with them when exploring......Moreover he is only relying on magical means completely forgetting about clever muggle things. Like he could use things like, tear gas, the ink that banks use to mark Robbers, wire trips, explosives, flashbangs. When it comes to life and death he should not have any stone unturned. But all summer all he did was procrastinate. Then when he came to Hogwarts he could have rigged the bathroom with dung bombs or inks to mark Tom, but instead he only used magical means that could easily be detected by Tom. He could have done so many things, more so because he is portrayed as being more intelligent than his previous life.
