Comments of chapter undefined of A Marvelous Loop (Discontinued)

I don't understand, is this a closed or open loop? basically whenever he dies he goes back to the moment he arrived, so the loop only works when he dies? or for a while too? like, if in one day he didn't break the loop does he reset? or can he just ignore the quest and run away and live life normally until he dies of old age (which resets the loop)? i would run away, spend a few months/years learning lots of new things like magic, martial arts, and science when i feel confident i would kill myself and end the loop, although martial arts doesn't work very well as the loop would probably wipe out all muscle memory .
