I really don't understand why are they being that much rough to him. So he let his sister get raped but he is like a canary who was protected across his life. He doesn't know how to fight or something and his body is probably to weak at this point of time. It seems a bit forced to me.

Uhh mate, his sister was getting raped. People are rough not because he let her get raped but because he just lay there, crying and begging the rapists to stop. Also, at the moment, the anger of people close to her is justified. Doesn't matter if you are a protected canary, you stand up for your sis/mom no matter what happens to you.
