if i'm honest, i think that the degree of direct violence that valentina applied here felt a bit weak - although i think i really mean is 'distracted'. this was offset by the vivid descriptions of the unfettered rage as well as the confusion of emotion that her worry for dahlia is causing. so, i think you hit a good and reasonable middle ground for this scene.
the violence and brutality didn't bother me at all...I would have done far worse to him specially because he deserved it...the scene in the carriage was certainly disturbing though but that was probably because I like her so much... anyway I loved what you did with the baron...very creative~ would have liked for it to last a bit longer but satisfying nonetheless...and lastly I'm immensely enjoying your work so far and this book is definitely on my top 10...
