oooh, the Baeleryons having a massive family inevitably comes with complications of who should rule and do what, I am gonna guess, the baeleryons are divided and are currently going through a civil cold war, one of these factions, likely the baeleryon head's faction, is likely keeping an eye out on the actions of the Regallyons. But that doesn't explain why they would actively antagonize the regallyons. So I am gonna assume that whatever MC did in that brief time skip, he made himself an opponent or someone to be wary of, to the baeleryon head.
the onlyt thing Baeleryons have going for them is the fact they breed like rabbits, they are not special in any field of knowledge like the rest of the sacred famillies are. If they kill or remove Regallyons, it wouldn't change anything and would only bring suspicison and distrust; after all, the No. 2 most powerful house in Valriya for 5,000 suddenly being removed or falling to obscurity is thing of huge concern. We have to remember, the 5 Great Houses are like Royalty, they aren’t disposable like the other 35 dragonlord houses; each one of them is essential for Valriya’s daily operation, so whatever a sacred house does, it will garner attention. Also, removing the regallyons would be stupid beyond belief, the regallyons are super strong, but lack numbers, they can’t beat the current Baeleryons, but can suppress the rest of the sacred houses, the baeleryons pretty much have a gatekeeper for their continued hegemony. Removing the regallyons would be empowering the third ranked sacred house, which is also a military focused one, that’s a house WAY more dangerous as they don’t have a genetic defect and can also increase their population quickly to match the baeleryons. So, the only logical explanation would be that baeleryons and regallyons are now hostile to each other because of ideology or a material benefit that Baeleryons would gain, the only thing of significance they could get from Regallyons would be magic knowledge and all that. Which is also another possible reason, the baeleryons might be feeling vulnerable having only numbers to maintain their supremacy(numbers which are also dangerous because it causes the house to be less unified). But this would still be a very drastic idea or reason to implement as replacing the people who spent generations studying magic makes them the expert not you, just because you have the access to the knowledge doesn’t mean you understand the value, worth, and proper use of that knowledge. It would literally be the equivalent of handing a 5th grader, knowledge to make nukes, they would have the knowledge but not the wisdom to use the knowledge to it’s best. Valriya would loose A LOT from having what is essentially their scientists be replaced with complete noobs; also as baeleryons are divided, the knowledge of the magic could be compromised in a matter of weeks, leading to every house having that knowledge which the baeleryons had killed to gain. There’s just sooo many ways it could go! I am proud of this author for doing such a good job in just 16 chapters.
